    Hello! I purchased your spreadsheet, I really appreciate the thought and work that went into this. I do seem to be having an issue. It seems that when I input an annual expense, it will change the total expenses on the Expense sheet, but it does NOT change the total amount of the Monthly Surplus on the Summary sheet.
    My current workaround is taking that annual expense and performing a "divide by 12" function in the monthly column.
    I'm using it in Apple Numbers. Thank you!

      Hey thanks for the support and glad to hear you're liking the template. Not changing the monthly surplus with annual expenses is intentional. My thought is that the monthly surplus should show what your "normal" monthly surplus is.
      But I totally get/understand why you may not want it to work that way. Your current work around is a good solution.
      A simpler solution would be to change the function for calculating monthly surplus to include the annual expenses.
      Change the function in Monthly Surplus cell to this:
      SUM((Yearly Net $Total÷12)−Monthly $Total)
      If you need more help, you can find my email on my site. I'm happy to help.

    Hey Shawn! I bought this spreadsheet and I'm loving it! Quick question, how can I make I use the expenses tab on a monthly basis for example groceries vary every month

    • @shawn.hickman
      @shawn.hickman  9 месяцев назад +2

      Glad you're liking it! Hmm...one way you could do it is it make a copy of that Expenses tab for each month of the year. That could get pretty tedious though. I'll have to give it more thought to come up with something better for you.

      Glad you like it! If you're working with non-taxable pay, you could simply put the same values in the Bi-Weekly Net and Bi-Weekly Gross cells for the Income tab.

    Income can change month to month. Also, expenses change month to month. You said we can copy the expenses tab for each month. But that would be very tedious. Likewise, what about the income tab? Do we need a separate income tab for each month or can we copy the income block of cells and paste them in the same tab allowing us to have one tab with 12 income sections - one for each month.

    • @shawn.hickman
      @shawn.hickman  3 месяца назад +1

      This spreadsheet doesn't quite work with a month-to-month tracking of expenses and spending. It's a higher-level overview of your personal finances. To do a proper month-to-month budget tracker, you'd need to have separate tabs for each month to track expenses and income. Maybe I'll make one of these in the future.

    Hi Shawn,
    I am wanting to get this possibly- but one thing I was trying to do with the Numbers app was get a budgeted versus actual difference in the expense columns. Is that something that’s included in this spreadsheet? Or something that could be added?
    I’m not sure if you do custom spreadsheets in that way.
    Thank you!

    • @shawn.hickman
      @shawn.hickman  7 месяцев назад

      The current design of the spreadsheet wouldn't really work with a budgeted vs actual on a month-to-month basis. I can def be added, so I'll make a note to look into a good way to do it.

    I purchased your template and it’s honestly incredible. However, I have expenses that I pay every other month, or even quarterly… or every other year even… how can I show this on your Personal Finance Template?

    • @shawn.hickman
      @shawn.hickman  7 месяцев назад

      Glad you like it! The first thing you could do is add some additional options under the Frequency column in the Expenses tab. Right now it only has Yearly or Monthly, but you could add Quarterly, Bi-Weekly, or anything else that makes sense for you.
      Second, you'd need to update the formulas in the Summary tab to match or filter based on the new options. Not sure what your knowledge level is with spreadsheets, but that's how I'd start to tweaks things.

    What does it mean Bi-Weekly? If someone earns 3000 monthly, how much should he then fill in bi-weekly?

    • @shawn.hickman
      @shawn.hickman  4 месяца назад

      Every two weeks. So if you earn $3000 monthly, your bi-weekly would be $1500. This is 26 “paychecks” per year if you get paid every two weeks
