I think it was 2014 I was at the Experience Hendrix Tour (Eric was in the line up) at the Holiday Star theater in Merrillville Indiana (which sadly has been torn down). I can't remember who is playing at the time but a friend and I thought it was a good time to go grab a beer. Going to the beer stand outside the theater there was absolutely nobody around, except for one guy leaning up against the wall enjoying a beer of his own. My friend says THAT'S ERIC GALES! Sure enough he was right. We got our beer and stood there and talked to him for 5 minutes or so. Not only is he a killer player, he's also a real nice down to earth guy. \m/
Eric Gales is a player and a half! This guitar looks superb, too. I tried a Magneto guitar very similar to this one on Denmark Street when I was there last year. Felt and played as well as, if not better than, the American Strats I've played!
The ‘ice picky’ brightness is at least in part due to the fact that ships with 500k pots rather than the more conventional 250k you’d associate with single coils. As you demonstrate in your demo, this is why tone knobs. 😊
This is a BRILLIANT review GG! It’s hard to find top quality information about the Magneto RD3 and the pull apart was compelling. It sounds spectacular! I AM BUYING ONE. CANNOT WAIT! ❤
Outstanding review!!! All of my instincts were telling that this guitar was special and super high quality. The Geek validates! I’ll be buying one ASAP. I first became aware of it after listening to Eric play live on RUclips - it caught my ear from the room next door. In that clip, even Eric stops playing and says “woooow, that’s a beautiful tone!” And then indulges the audience with a mini tone demonstration in the middle of a song. Bloody brilliant and completely spontaneous as we’ve come to expect from the dawg. We can see how this guitars feel and its tone inspire Eric to create music that has never been conceived before. Incredibly beautiful spontaneous improvisation fusion blues jazz rock classical stuff and a lot of it comes from his relationship with this particular guitar. And the best thing????!!!!! It is NOT MASS PRODUCED like the usual brands. Cannot wait to strum my own. Thanks Guitar Geek for an outstanding review. MARTY FROM DOWN UNDER
When Andy commented on the solid-feeling jack socket, I wondered if it might be a Pure Tone one, and at 13:40, this was confirmed. I've fitted Pure Tone jack sockets to all my electric guitars. They connect with the jack plug very securely, and have my personal recommendation.
Never heard of him before (I'm a metal head). Saw how beautiful the guitar looked, and how delicious you made it sound. Searched him up on RUclips and boy can he play! And you too Andy!

Gales played a "99-cent" show at a small venue I was working at back in 1990 or '91, not very known and a small crowd so I got to actually enjoy the show. The people who actually did show up got their minds blown, he was amazing from soundcheck to finale.

Sometimes you just want to play that super gritty/somehow also weirdly polished Eric Gales upbeat modern blues (is that enough adjectives for a gear comment?) and this kind of seems perfect for that. Very happy they went with a 12" radius too.
I use golden pickguards on all of my Strats, Mexican, USA, even on the 400 - 500 euro Squiers. Even my 2006 Gibson SG has a golden etched batwing pickguard, I like this one a lot but the headstock shape is the only con for me personally since I'm used to the Fender shape, but it's just cosmetical stuff nonetheless. As long it plays good, no sharp fret ends, and a nice neck (I prefer satin) I'm cool with it.
The late and amazingly talented Karl Wallinger from World Party played the guitar the same way. Remember seeing him live when I was learning guitar and just being utterly confused.
