If you ever see him live you will be amazed.
Eric Gales is just an outstanding performer.
I would love to
I saw him a couple of years ago at a small club in York, he was mesmerising, and as for Smoke Face..... sheesh
Eric Gales is a monster of a player. Learned of him through Joe Bonamassa. Absolutely incredible.
The ‘ice picky’ brightness is at least in part due to the fact that ships with 500k pots rather than the more conventional 250k you’d associate with single coils.
As you demonstrate in your demo, this is why tone knobs. 😊
French guitar-brand involved !🇫🇷 (i love this brand and i’m really happy you enjoy their intruments has much as i do !)
I think it was 2014 I was at the Experience Hendrix Tour (Eric was in the line up) at the Holiday Star theater in Merrillville Indiana (which sadly has been torn down). I can't remember who is playing at the time but a friend and I thought it was a good time to go grab a beer. Going to the beer stand outside the theater there was absolutely nobody around, except for one guy leaning up against the wall enjoying a beer of his own. My friend says THAT'S ERIC GALES! Sure enough he was right. We got our beer and stood there and talked to him for 5 minutes or so. Not only is he a killer player, he's also a real nice down to earth guy. \m/
Eric Gales is a player and a half! This guitar looks superb, too. I tried a Magneto guitar very similar to this one on Denmark Street when I was there last year. Felt and played as well as, if not better than, the American Strats I've played!
I’d love to see him live. This is easily up above the player plus fenders. Fender don’t seem to offer roasted maple enough
Much better than Hawk Tuah Girl videos.
Never heard of him before (I'm a metal head). Saw how beautiful the guitar looked, and how delicious you made it sound. Searched him up on RUclips and boy can he play! And you too Andy!
Thanks for checking it out. Yeah Eric is a master!
Eric Gales has a song with Zak Wylde call Steep Climb, they trade solos. It's pretty awesome
@@chrissangster3040 brother, thanks that was sexxxy
dude, search up Gales playing with Joe Bonamassa, think it’s from one of his cruses. They are riffing off each other and inadvertently discover early metal riffs! lol It’s brilliant 🤘
Gales played a "99-cent" show at a small venue I was working at back in 1990 or '91, not very known and a small crowd so I got to actually enjoy the show. The people who actually did show up got their minds blown, he was amazing from soundcheck to finale.
Where is the guitar manufactured ❓
Eric Gayles can definitely get a 🎸 on 🔥 ‼️
I love seeing someone genuinely gush over an instrument. The finish isn't my cup of tea but, if I owned it, it would grow on me.
Glad it made you happy! It looks GREAT onstage and it has something that is lacking in some other similar guitars
@@TheGuitarGeek Yeah that's a good point. I don't have a big collection (yet), so the more unusual finishes/guitars don't draw me in quite so readily (yet)... thanks for the vid
When Andy commented on the solid-feeling jack socket, I wondered if it might be a Pure Tone one, and at 13:40, this was confirmed. I've fitted Pure Tone jack sockets to all my electric guitars. They connect with the jack plug very securely, and have my personal recommendation.
You've become my favorite guitar channel by far. It's your impish demeanor and you always look like you're in on the joke and you MIGHT tell us, but probably not. Also, you know a thing or 2 about guitars. Keep rocking!
hahahaha oh no, I have been rumbled!
@@TheGuitarGeek Rumbled? That's a new one for me. I thought I knew Brit slang. 😂
Great show!! The guitar is killer plus I really like Eric Gale.Yes,keep playing, we like it! Thanks!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
That is an amazing price for a guitar of this quality! And Eric Gales is an amazing player!
I've been looking at these guitars for ages now and this EG sig model has me by the balls! Check out Too Close To The Fire to hear how Eric really plays it. Oooh, look, and it can be financed............ Great review by the way Andy.
Damn Andy you're kickin the jams!
Dick Dale played the strings upside down like that as well. The up strum sound you hear in surf music was his down strum.
I had a Magneto US-1200, which I sold to purchase a Fender Stratocaster.
And I still regret my Magneto. I'm looking to buy a new one, and the Eric Gales signature. Magneto is a great underrated brand.
It sounds absolutely delicious! I will definitely be checking out the other instruments that they make, too.
It really does, I get a lot of joy from this guitar.
That guitar sounds fantastic.
Nice playing Andy.
Tasty licks!!
Cheers!
Sounds great
Another fine video from this fine gentleman. Keep up the good work, Father Dougal! :)
Go on….
@@TheGuitarGeekAndy! Your song while demoing the clean sound, what song is that? Please sir it’s driving me crazy.
What a stunning sounding guitar.
Not too shabby looking neither.
Lovely colour and neck.
You got some cool tones, Sir ❤❤❤❤
Thanks!
Great playing my dude!
Thanks a lot!
That guitar is a beauty!!
nice lil Eric Gales riff in the beginning man!
Really great playing!
I use golden pickguards on all of my Strats, Mexican, USA, even on the 400 - 500 euro Squiers. Even my 2006 Gibson SG has a golden etched batwing pickguard, I like this one a lot but the headstock shape is the only con for me personally since I'm used to the Fender shape, but it's just cosmetical stuff nonetheless. As long it plays good, no sharp fret ends, and a nice neck (I prefer satin) I'm cool with it.
It plays like a dream
And I keep the original parts intact, the value of guitars with original parts is worth more!
Sometimes you just want to play that super gritty/somehow also weirdly polished Eric Gales upbeat modern blues (is that enough adjectives for a gear comment?) and this kind of seems perfect for that. Very happy they went with a 12" radius too.
Hahaha, I’m storing those adjectives in my pocket for another day!
It's true I do love listening to him play. It's one of the reasons why I subscribed lol.
Gold!!!!
Tis very Nice. ❤
Very cool. Not my style particularly, but it looks like you get a lot of guitar for the money. It sounds great. I find myself not fast forwarding through your playing demos because you don’t end up playing the same ol’ “signature licks” in every video. Thank you for that.👍
Believe me, if I could remember any signature licks, I’d be playing them all the time 😂😂😂
You’re just too cool to be worried about showing off your chops.😉😜
Cool Guitar, Sounds good. Cool Video.🙂
I have to say Andy, the guitar isn´t really my thing, but this review is the BEST sig review I have ever heard for sounding like the sig! I listened whilst doing something else, and I really sounded like Eric Gale! Seriously! Great job!
I’m honoured. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
I like it. I customize all my guitar's. Tone bleed will clean maot if not all of that up. Also. Gain can influence tone. 😊
I just got a '22 MIM classic vibe with the sticker still on the input jack and a case at a pawn shop for the equivalent of $250USD by trading 2 cheap guitars for a PRS (guy didn't know what it was) that had a chip on the headstock, then the PRS for the Strat
Your playing was really good here.
Thank you
I remember being really intrigued by this guitar when it came out. My interest has been piqued again. I need to give one a try. Great playing in the video by the way.
The late and amazingly talented Karl Wallinger from World Party played the guitar the same way. Remember seeing him live when I was learning guitar and just being utterly confused.
"Very weird" doyle brahamhall ii, jimi hendrix, eric gales.... all play this way. Mono neon does so with bass i believe. So its unique for sure!
Hendrix played a right handed strat as a lefty , but he strung it the normal way!
@@justice100forwin2 my dude, he didn't always. He actually could play righty, lefty and strung upside down. He got more reactions live with the flipped guitar sooo It's what he went with. There's interviews of musicians talking about it who saw him backstage. There's also photographs of him back stage playing right handed guitars. He was just a freak.
@@JDubzDrumz WOW....I think Jimi might have been an alien from another planet. Even when I listen to him now , he sounds way ahead of his time , still now!
I cannot remember the name of the Lucite guitar. But there's a photo of jimi sitting backstage with one holding it righty strumming it talking to another famous musician. If I find it I will tell you what to search.
@@JDubzDrumz Yeah , let me know if you find it mate
I feel like the guy from The Hives used to play a Magneto. Cool interpretation of a classic.
I’d consider buying one if it didn’t have that giant signature on the headstock. What a shame!
SNOT needed in the control cavity but it IS needed in the pickup cavities, where it is missing on this guitar. Why can't people get this right?
I usually do the whole cavity. It was weird to see half a cavity done
nice vid
Thank you
Is the scratchplate a standard Strat size? It would be the first thing i'd change. Not keen on the mirror finish, too reflective especially for the audience.
I'm buying a Player Strat.
Much cheaper than a USA one. ❤
@@willistaylor4077 take a look at the Sire S7.
The t style is oretty good too
Thanks for the deep dive into the internals.... Now the price kind of makes sense considering its MIC. They try and hide that from everyone from what I've seen.
I was surprised as well to not know where this guitar is made. Is it confirmed that these are made in China?
That signature on the fretboard absolutely ruins it. Otherwise it would be my type of guitar.
Bigtime there’s no way I’d ever buy a guitar with someone else’s name on the fretboard. I don’t like anyone’s name on a guitar period more less the damn fretboard.
@@KenSpears313 I think I spotted three signatures on that puppy. That's one heck of an ego!
Hi! I love your channel, and I watched the cheap Amazon videos. Can you explain how to get this in America? I don't know if I would have to change currencies, or if there is a different way to do it?
They’re selling for between $450 and $1000 online used. Sad to see such good instruments under appreciated
Young man what do you think about putting 10 gauge electric strings on acoustic guitar? Thank you
Andy, What's the story with the Knobs? You didn't mention them. Are they nice? They look soft and grippy.
That should of been rejected at the factory due to the knot in the neck pocket.
Yeah cos it sounds and plays terrible….
Toan knots
@@TheGuitarGeek your snarky replies to comments with legit qc and quality concerns ain't a good look my guy. Shill shit. Also, a knot in the neck pocket has nothing to do with sound quality. It's about durability and longevity.
@@TheGuitarGeek LOL
@@hmmmmm6034 Andy is a good guy.
WOW ... gold standard 3 PU axe
Alright, fine. I’ll move to the UK so I can demo the left handed models for you. Should be easy enough seeing as how my step father is from Lancaster.
Easy mistake to make. Mr Geek resides in Austria. A bit of a long commute for you.
@@PaulCooksStuff I mean, I live in California, so it’s already a bit of a drive.
Not a bad deal. Pretty reasonable price for what it is.
pls look some old Albert King Videos spez. the one with Mick Taylor and tell me what King does .. i believe he learned as a left hand player on a normal Guitar, than later he used Lefthand Guitars with Right Hand config. of the Strings :)
Can you please review the glarry GTL telecaster
Unfortunately they are not available in Europe
@@TheGuitarGeek how about the Leo jaymz DIY kit??
Perhaps I missed it, but where are these models manufactured?
Coming Soon from Gibson. The Slash S Style guitar. It looks like a Strat, it sounds like a Strat, it Plays like a Strat...but its a Les Paul we Swear.......
Oh John Mayer...what hell have you wrought!!
Gibson made cheap Strats with Hendrix badging in 2009. They were pulled from the market almost immediately.
Does it come with the optional spinners?
The what?
What is he playing at 4:40. I know it but i cant for the life of me think of what song it is
Too Fenderish😊 Nice❤
Good review of an excellent guitar. Strats are not my thing to be honest.
Raw wood on the neck & pocket makes more sustain Eric Johnson claims.
I literally wouldn't want to own that. I just couldn't do it justice. Like im happy with my playing. But id play it and it would sprout legs and run back to Eric
Oh man that made me panic and then chuckle 😂😂😂
I’m sure you would do just fine
But I can see the frets' ends are not rounded, they are squared
Did it sound like there was an issue? I didn’t hear one. It certainly didn’t feel like there was an issue..
@@TheGuitarGeek man, the squared frets ends have nothing to do with the sound, it's just how they feel in your hand while moving it around the neck. Those frets' ends are not well refined. You know that, bro!
The frets felt absolutely fine, it’s one of the most playable guitars I have. They may not be pretty fret ends (I do enjoy the look of a nice rounded end) but they had zero effect on the feel.
@@TheGuitarGeek if you say so, I believe you.
I’m surprised you’re so trusting!
2.33 Hold that thought, Andy. You could do a real review of a teaching system that tries to get your hands moving properly.
Wow, man thats some sexy guitar, looks like Rick james should be playing it.
Sounds great, but I personally can't stand gold accents. The hardware and pickguard are just plain gaudy!
Strap knobs: Eric is a lefty .. so thats why 3 Strap knobbies
For the price of that guitar, it should have higher quality 5-way switch and volume and tone controls
There’s nothing wrong with any of the electrics here. Maybe you’ve been reading too many gear posts. I played this live a lot and never had any issues and don’t foresee any either
@@TheGuitarGeek you missed my point. I didn't say that you couldn't get a lot of usage from cheaper components.
I have one electric guitar, by choice. If the switch or the pots went down during a paying gig, the club owner would be pissed if I couldn't finish the show.
It sounds like that guitar company is giving you the product or paying you to do the video and you don't want to point out the economy electronics. I did set up and guitar repair work when I was 15 years old. I did that for 30 years. Now I just work on my electric and acoustic guitar as needed. Know your gear
100% they put the money into the signature. Thumbnail says "look out fender" lol anybody who knows a damn thing about guitars would take a squier over this piece of crap in a heartbeat.
@@hmmmmm6034 - Right on!
Do I need to watch if I'm never dropping £2k on anything anytime?! Jk, will watch later with good cans on.
It’s 2k???? Yeah going to stop watching then.
Good job it's only 850 then.
@@dcullenfi Where the hell did I see 2k?!
I might be losing it.
And they do lefties, which is rather ironic
Is this a promotion video, an add or a commerciel or is it your honest review of a guitar, you paid for yourself? I ask, 'cause you've stopped telling us,if you have been giving the gear by the company or they've been lending it to you or if it's something you paid yourself.
so if i paid for it myself and then sent the guitar back (having spent no money) and then earned money from youtube by making the video... that would be honest?
It’s another strat copy
So... the lowest string is actually the lowest when Eric plays it... yet all of us normies are the weird ones :)
In all seriousness, and content aside (which is fine)...
That's some egregious "thumbnail-face" you're sporting there. Was the debasement worth the extra clicks?
First!
Yes, yes you are!
38th!
Too much bling , not liking the gold.
It’s not for everyone
guitar looks gaudy and from top to the bottom middle of the line not worth the money
Far too gaudy
