- Me and some friends made a homemade jet boat out of a 55 Crestliner haul and a 99 Yamaha waveraider motor and jet drive.
We dive it on the upper Mississippi River by Winona MN and any other body of water we can find.
It bashes over logs and runs in shallow water at high speeds. It the most fun thing we have ever built.

I noticed a lot of sliding in the test driving if y’all still have the old jet ski hull you should take the sponsons off of it and put it on the boat it would make your cornering tighter and smoother

Why didnt you guys weld aluminium seats and bulkheads to the boat? all the wood and heavy square tube would have added a heap of uneccessary weight. Cool project though

Pretty sick little boat... not sure if you guys put a grate on there so you can clear debri... normally it's like a little handle that you push and half of the grates push away.

Any problems with legality of the boat with a build like that, thinking of doing one, but I want to be able to take it anywhere.... And be legal.
We had a friend at the License Bureau help us with that. So it is licensed and legal. Haven't been stopped yet, a lot of confused looks though.

Im up by Fargo but used to run the Miss south of St. Cloud.
And putting a new impeller on to compensate for the added weight just some suggestions but other than that it’s amazing and a really good idea and execution

Anyone can build one. $ really depends on how thrifty you are. As well as how good you are at working on motors and welding.

I have know idea. The jet ski was very heavy though. The boat goes 40mph with 2 people.
The average 2 seat jet ski weighs about 600 pounds. The average 12 foot aluminum boat bare hull weighs less than 200 pounds, swap the motor, tank, drive unit, seats wood floor, It's probly around 800 pounds, with much larger water contact area for stability and more Universal than a jet ski. There's a scoop they can install on the water pickup plate that forces water through the jet like a Supercharger, they'll gain almost 10mph.
Great choice for wrecked Jet skis!!!
