The left hand warm up exercise is the best exercise I tried so far for building left hand strength and what is so amazing is that you only need a few minutes everyday. You have made Guitar practice so much more fun. Thank you Ben! Keep up making them videos and teaching people how to shred \m/
That's great to hear, Filip - well done for doing the work!
Really like your idea how you break down small things and raise the subtle issue for each piece that everybody would ignore. This is a very simple but powerful learning method that everybody tends to ignore over underestimate it. And it actually applies to everything in your day to day life for not only guitar but anything. Kudos to your great work and will definitely checkout your lessons in your website.
Thanks Stan
You're an amazing player ben..
Thank you my friend!
@@BenHigginsOfficial Where are you nowadays,I mean I don't get your contents frequently like before...You did some amazing content before for example.. that yngwie, jason becker style shredding and all...You should start it again man...I love watching you shred..
@@cenaakashakash Cheers man
great content keep up the good work
Thanks man, there's more coming!
Excellent advice!
Thanks man!
Im very interested in legato..but my finger is not strong enough to press the fret of the guitar especially my pinky finger. 😭😭😭..
Oh man you need 'The Warm Up!!' It has a great finger exercise which will help build strength in your fingers. It does take time and dedication.. we all had to go through that painful fingertip stage! You can find it here.. it's free www.benhigginsofficial.com/courses.php
You can never play too many notes.
Ask Yngwie
Yngwie disagrees with me on everything, just because he has to! :D
Hi Ben, I am desperate to speed up my playing so have been watching this series with great interest. I already have some of your lessons, (hand synchronisation, alternate picking, inside picking, legato gym, warm up) and worked on your hand synchronisation course for several weeks but eventually became disillusioned and stopped. So I am wondering if your up coming Speed Accelerator Workshop would help? What exactly is the format for this? Is it us watching you teach, or is it a live, 2 way thing, eg you teach us then watch and comment on our playing, meaning we need a webcam set up? Also, as it's during the week, my work will probably get in the way if it's a live lesson. TIA.
Hi Steve, it's not live so you can catch up when you have time. I encourage people to record themselves doing the tasks and upload the videos in the group. So it's not live / no pressure. I can then give feedback on their playing. You can still just watch the entire thing and not get involved but you'll get the most out of it if I can see your playing. Will be good to have you come along and be part of it!
@@BenHigginsOfficial great, thanks for the reply Ben. I'll sign up then 👍
I need to learn hard synchronization for fast alternate picking. Should I start by playing it slowly?
Playing it slowly is one part of the process but it also depends on many other things like whether your fretting hand is fit enough for the job or whether your picking technique is working for you or not. Are you going to come along to the Free Guitar Workshop that I'm doing next week? We'll be going through loads of performance boosters that will you help you with all this - I put this together to help solve these exact problems! www.benhigginsofficial.com/free-workshop.php
Totally unrelated to the topic, do you ever find it a problem with your thumb being double jointed on your fretting hand?
Does it cause your grip to collapse?
@@HeathenwoodOfficial If I'm correctly interpreting you, yes, it is. I find myself using the middle joint of my thumb. So, instead of the pad of my thumb to rest gently on the back of the neck, I end up pressing into it with my joint, which causes me all sorts of problems with grip and finger positioning.
@@DaveClayification Holy sh*t, now that you describe it, I think I used to kinda do that a bit; I'm not double jointed but I guess it's harder not to position it on the joint if you are.
I'm not a doctor, but all I can suggest is maybe use the lightest strings possible, if pressing too hard might be causing the grip to fall. Maybe it would help
ie - you can't climb Everest in one step... but taking the first step will get you there ...
Exactly!
@@BenHigginsOfficial Each step is a journey in and of itself
Reminds me of this saying I really love : "The expert in anything was once a beginner"
This should be pinned
Nice smooth and fluid run. However, you need to explain that lick more in depth even though you can kinda see what's going on. Such as what notes you are hammering off to etc and the up and down strokes. Also it looks like your barring across the E and the B strings at the begining of the run with your index finger. Are you doing that?
