I'm so glad that when you told you Dad about the glitch, he didn't tell you you were an idiot. Sincerely.
That warmed my heart because it reminded me so much of my dad. He was always supportive of my interests and encouraged me to write into video game magazines on more than one occasion.

I bought a pedal from an unreliable site once. I was 50/50 on it being trash but I did it anyway. When I plugged it in it made a sound like blowing too hard into a clarinet if you had infinite breath. Instead of returning it like a normal person, I tried processing the squeal through more pedals. Anyway I still have the pedal.
excellent work
What pedal is that? It sounds exquisite, I must have one!
When life gives you lemons, just try to make it even worse and learn to enjoy it.
Sounds like a fuzz pedal I built...

A channel that speaks about pedals, guitars, games and art is totally the kind of stuff that resonates with me, and I haven't seen anyone doing it. From the last videogame I had in my youth (Playstation 2 in 2004) I totally devoted my self into playing music and having bands, and avoided games as much as possible because I thought they would hinder my development as a musician.....fast forward to 2021, during the pandemic I purchased a Playstation 4 to help out with the anxiety regarding COVID. Now I'm totally back to playing games (I even play in my PC which I record music which has a fairly decent graphics card).....games and music now go hand to hand in my creative process for writing and recording my music, and producing other bands which I do these days. Thanks for sharing this story with us, I felt compelled to give mine about it even if you didn't asked about it haha.
I still remember the Mortal Monday commercial where the kid yells “mortal kombat” and all the kids run out to the streets
unforgettable
The way you said Mortal Kombat was more of an art object for you resonates SO, SO much with me!! The music was so spooky, the live motion capture was so cool, the narrator’s voice was so creepy… everything about it was so foreboding and forbidden as a young kid.
Mortal Kombat 3 was MY Mortal Kombat. To me, Kerri Hoskins IS Sonya Blade. I was too young to realize, but I had a huge crush on Kerri Hoskins as Sonya Blade.
Also the idea of your dad telling you to write a letter to Ed Boon and John Tobias is so wholesome that he encouraged you like that. And as a kid seeing it as “the lab report” part is so relatable.
thanks dude. also kerri hoskins is no joke.
"I had time to invest in bullshit like this" looooool . Childhood summed up.
"You don't need to watch all my videos because they're all saying the same thing" I watched all your videos and I have to disagree, some of them are about orange juice. If you're new to this channel, it's actually extremely important to watch all of the videos, like I have, that's how I learned to be advanced. Please don't be misled by this one joke
listen to this man at our own risk
I remember when we first figured this out, and Sub Zero could also do the freeze part of the Fatality, endlessly.
Some people would do it over and over, for a minute or more.
The other glitch, I tried so hard to get Tsung, to go from Sub Zero to Scorpion, and do the finish.
Really cool analogy, to how you breakdown using effects.
I was also obsessed with learning every detail I could about MKII, but it was two different games that shaped my musical path:
Zelda II - I'm a huge fan of any sort of vibrato effect. I find myself drawn more to it than any other kind of modulation. My love for it is 100% based on the many, many hours I played Zelda II as a kid. I don't know if there's a single song in that game without excessive vibraro.
Super Metroid - This game showed me how much a soundtrack could change the whole mood of a game. The game is masterful at eliciting feelings of both loneliness and wonder, and the soundtrack is a huge part of that.
"and its just that"
BEEEEEDOOOOOO
Dude you’re video style and super creative video editing made me really want to start making my own videos and I did it. I love seeing the shit you come up with.
This is one of the reasons that Ivan is a fantastic musician and teacher
thanks dude
great story, mortal kombat is one of my 3 passions along with music and wrestling
and I was never really good at playing it either but I love the aesthetics, the lore and the characters
we are the same
What a fantastic deep dive on the thought process that brought you to the way you approach music and gear! Different circumstances, but it reminds me a LOT about how I learned to build things by making Mystery Science Theater 3000 junk puppets - the fun part is figuring out how you can use something really familiar in a completely new way. When deciding something like turning up a reverb full wet, it sounds like you live by my motto with all of my hobbies. “If something is worth doing, it’s worth over-doing.”
MKII is my all time favorite fighting game! This was such a an epic video! so glad you finally did the homework to finish it! XD
I can relate to “wasting time on BS like that”. NHL 95 was my wormhole. No one could take me down in the neighborhood cause I knew all the glitches. glitches were the key to stardom, like Bo Jackson in techno bowl, or the shortcut home in Ferris bueller
Cool ass story bro. A true man of culture. Just recapped my genesis not long ago, gonna go bust out the MK2 cart and try this out.
I can 100% relate, as a kid once i had my mind set on something like that - that became the game. It was no longer Mortal Combat II, it was fucked up character sprite II, and breaking it that way was so exciting.
I used to spend hours in computer games trying to break out of the game, not fully understanding that the world in the game was limited in scope. I just wanted to find places nobody else had found. As soon as I realised there was nothing to discover in there that somebody else hadn't already found, I lost interest in video games.
I had a similar experience except it was only like 3 years ago. The level Count Dooku in lego star wars the complete saga has an area before the boss fight with two collectible minikits in it. Both are only obtainable in freeplay (a mode where you can switch to other characters at the push of a button) One required someone to fly across a gap and the other required a high jumping character. With the help of my brother and a lot of effort we managed to get both in storymode with the characters it makes you play as. I dont know what compelled me to try so hard to do it, but in the moment it was like i saw the matrix or something lol. I just made a random guess at how you could manipulate the collision between characters, or between a character and a moving platform, to get to the minikits, and I was right both times. Having a hypothesis like that and then it actually being right is pretty magical. That was definitely a game where it was an art object for me.
excellent work my son
I practiced drawing my ninja poses everyday k-12 ...without fail. That, ninja turtles, muscle structure...learned so much from drawing out of gamepro magazine, the cartoon movie. Anything w karate or Kung fu...I was drawing it. But mostly all MK. You just earned yourself a sub buddy
loved drawing ninjas
This feels strangely important
I found a glitch on Sonic 2 for the Master System the very first time I played the game. I felt like I already knew where it was and how to execute it, even though I'd never played it before. Almost as though I was remembering it. I not only had to find where the glitch was, but then do something else which was counterintuitive / unexpected.
You're like the Beach Boys of Mortal Kombat ! I had the same relationship towards the DEUS cards game....never actually played them hahaha
Thanks for being so thoughtful man ! Cheers
wow, how have I never heard of that glitch before. amazing
Back in the day we had to document our achievements by connecting the Genesis to the VCR and recording to tape.
Less than 100% wet is weakness😆Thats buried in my subconscious now. Stella upload Cyberattack you rock 🤙💯
I had a huge folder full of new mortal Kombat characters I drew and came up with moves and finishers for each one it was dope
i love stuff like that
My teachers at school didn't like it even though I did have all my work done and top grades but they thought I was just screwing around all day
You slayed me with Jump 🗡and now you finish me with Mortal Kombat ⚰
Love this channel. This video made me remember what it felt like to break games with a GameShark back in the day haha. Years later I found an out of bounds area in Dragon Age: Inquisition that, at least at the time, seemed undiscovered because there were no videos about it (though plenty could have found it and just been like me, not uploading). It was a pretty good one because you could go on forever and even see some dungeons from the outside, which just looked like basic rectangles. There was also a very odd texture beneath the entire map that resembled Sun rays, except they all gathered to a point that faded into black which gave it a sort of black hole vibe. You could only see it in certain areas out of bounds where you could clip through the terrain with the camera. Anyway. Nice video
I just learned the mortal kombat theme on guitar 2 weeks ago and love this channel... what a coincidence!
Nice video and concept to talk about, I totally get it. Without fully realizing my artistic output to level such as your own, I know what I like and it's as much about color as it is sound, it's about shapes and the balance of comedic and cool, violent and sexy, whatever it is- mine was megaman x, for Super Nintendo. The look and sounds (music is amazing) and the feel of the buttons mashing into the scenery and movement on screen was so perfectly done. Graphics absorb movement like a fuzz saga a dirty amp, you learn to love that sponginess, the feel. Cohesive artistic style, you possess it and show us the way- thanks CyberAttack
Wow, I love many of the effects vids, "5 ways to use this or that differently" or whatever, but this one feels like a window right to the soul man, killer! A blast from the past too! Thanks for sharing this!
I didn't realize Rick Rubin had asked you to write the next chapter for The Creative Act
nor did i
Thank you for sharing that insight with us. Your videos are such an inspiration for creativity. And You always explain your creative process, which is very well articulated. You are exceptionally talented, but your unique personality and style really push your talent through to another stratosphere. Thank you for your channel and all your videos.
Great video, brother. And congrats on 30K subs. Many more to come, I am sure!
my parents would go bowling every friday when i was a kid in the early 90's and i remember thinking that if i stood around the mkII machine looking sad cause i was out of quarters, that maybe some stranger would give me a few for another go. did i mention i was/am kind of dumb? also, for some people it's the konami code, but for me, the blood code for the first mk on the sega genesis is burned into my brain
love a good bowling alley arcade
@5:12 that's where the magic happens in this video. Dont forget your notebook to write down the instructions!
Ever since I saw that Q&A in which you tell about this I wanted to ask you to show the glitch and comment further on that and this is exactly it! Loved the story and the creative process, thanks for sharing
oh man great memory, thanks for being patient
Dude……nice.
Thanks for sharing this.
I already liked your vids.
Now i like you.

Your takeaway is great
Awesome story and philosophy! I loved those video game summers.
You rock kind sir!
Just what i needed apparently…lol..i set up a three path chain going to three different amps and then got intimidated by the whole thing and never turned it on….those glitch color corpses are like yeah, the whole thing could just collapse into chaos and explode..but do it anyway…
The glitch color corpses gave their lives for you to try this
@@CyberattackWorld …yes!…i have a performance party on june 8th, i think for the night i’ll introduce ourselves…”hi, we are Glitch Color Corpses”

I’d love a weird modulation pedal that’s Quan Chi-themed.

I watched this at normal speed. Didn't speed it up even once.
Also is there really a 5 tips for the Moog Expression Pedal?
absolutely yes: ruclips.net/video/_JNypShQP08/видео.html
awesome man
i like this video
I wonder if any of the video game RUclipsrs know about this one
Fav character obviously Johnny Cage 😅
"I had time to invest in bullshit like this." awesome.
0:19 I'm sorry that I have to correct you on this but Technically, "Mortal Kombat 1" is the new game and MK2 was the sequel to "Mortal Kombat". Please blame Netherealm for allowing this.
ok yes
Awesome
Oh no!!! Not ttthhhheee homework.
🔥
But also, go back and watch all his videos....
Hello Sir,
I Visited your RUclips channel and noticed it ranks lower than others. SEO seems to be lacking, though your content is fantastic. Wondering why your videos aren't attracting more views? One key factor is insufficient SEO (your videos' SEO score is 14/100%, that's why your video is not reaching out to the people and you do not have many subscribers, views, likes, watch time, and comments. I also noticed that your video thumbnail was good. If you'd like, I can assist you with improving it. I think your RUclips channel will make your dream come true. I am waiting for your response.
