This is more of a “flying camera” than a drone. But technically it IS a drone. I have a physical controller that I bought which links up with it! I haven’t tested it yet because of all of the rains in typically dry Southern California. Thanks for the review and comments. I’m enjoying getting used to mine, and after only three flights indoors and three outdoors, I can certainly see why in 100 flights, our video creator in this video says he hasn’t crashed in 100 flights. I don’t even see how it would be possible to crash, although I did see someone on RUclips program an orbit with a radius that was far to wide (it “crashed” into a bush and made a gentle landing on grass beneath it).

I can't decide whether I am more impressed by the camera, or by your review, which is about as high-grade a piece of videography and presentation that I have ever seen on RUclips. And it's certainly by far the best review of the X1 - your opening sequence is masterful, and really shows what can be done with this device in the right hands. For a number of reasons I had decided that I would not give into temptation and order one - partly because I'm in transit to a new house and need to be sensible with my expenditure at this point, but also because I am not convinced that anyone will be particularly interested in seeing me in a lot of shots, which is the particular strength of the X1. As you demonstrate very well, it can also be used as a normal drone but that's a bit like buying a Pocket 2 and using it in FPV mode. Well, I shall continue to ponder this, but in terms of the most sexy piece of gadgetry to have been released in recent years, the X1 certainly takes the prize. And now I will go and take a cold shower fully clothed as I can smell smoke rising from the wallet in my pocket! [Edited to note that since the Indigogo campaign closed, it no longer ships here to Australia. Well, that solves my problem!]

Something that I don’t need a remote for, that is small, and I could just take out use to get some shots and put back in my pocket and keep going. I like your review, I am waiting for X2 model, with some advantages. I wish this drone has better camera resolution and fly higher than 15 m. One more feature important for me as a motorcycle rider is flying speed. So that's why I can wait what features will be in next model.
LOVE YOUR TUTORIAL REVIEW OF THE X1 DRONE. The part where you tried to make it crash into a tree was great. I was surprised that you did not say "YOU CAN EVEN PLAY HIDE-AND-SEEK WITH THIS DRONE. Seriously, GREAT REVIEW. THANK YOU.
Good as it is, I do think it was amazingly lucky not to hit a tree branch or something. Also important to note that it can't do banked turns, so if you turn too sharply at speed it will do a much wider turn and that risks hitting an obstacle such as a wall or tree. But if you learn its idiosyncrasies and work within its (few) limitations, it really is as enjoyable to use as this review suggests. I've had mine for nearly 12 months now and I've only crashed once - luckily not so badly as to cause any damage. But once damaged beware that getting parts or fixes are nigh impossible - if you can get insurance (eg Amazon offers it when you purchase) this would be a very good option because then you can just replace it and use the damaged one for parts if you ever need them.
What a fantastic, cinematic review! I watched several video reviews attached to the Hover Amazon page, but this was on another level! I especially enjoyed the orbit effect with different locations between :40-:50 and 1:27-1:37. Very cool!

Your review is fantastically thorough and great to watch. The intro narrative is a simple informative “hook”. The whole review is very well edited together, transitioned, and has very informative narration. Great job putting the drone through it’s paces. I really love the intro part with your song. The singer has a very nice voice. I kept replaying the intro just to listen to the song. Brought to mind Wendy singing to Peter Pan.
The biggest problem is the video shooting environment has almost no people. Its like a single object track in a vast open area. Wonders how it will perform with more dense location with people and bicycle or cars moving pass you.
Did you watch my video for the parts where I'm close to cars and people? Keep in mind that to fly a drone over a crowd is illegal in my country and others.

Wow. Amazing product and great video production and editing on your behalf! My only issue that keeps me from getting one is that it can't work over water. I'm a sailor and really would need the follow or dolly mode while sailing along or paddling in the dingy.

It works well indoors too. It does better when the floor has at least a little bit of texture or a pattern of some kind.

Wow. Amazing product and great video production and editing on your behalf! My only issue that keeps me from getting one is that it can't work over water. I'm a sailor and really would need the follow or dolly mode while sailing along or paddling in the dingy.
I was hoping to use it on my kayak trips too, but it is just not possible with this one.
