But the world was such a very large place. The monster split in two, and went on separate journeys. One went east. The other headed west. The one who went east came upon a village. He came upon a very sick boy who lived in that castle. "If you give me your name, I'll make you strong," said the monster. The boy replied, "If you can make me healthy and strong, I will give you my name!" So the monster jumped right into the boy. And the boy became full of vigor. The king was overjoyed. He announced, "The prince is healthy! The prince is strong!" The monster became quite fond of the boy's name. He was also quite pleased with his royal life in the castle. So he controlled himself no matter how ravenous his appetite became. Day after day, despite his growing hunger, the monster stayed put inside the boy. But finally, the hunger just became too great... "Look at me! Look at me!" said the boy, "The monster inside of me has gotten this big!" The boy devoured the king and all his servants. Munch munch, chomp chomp, gobble gobble, gulp. The castle was lonely now with everyone gone, so the boy left on a journey. He walked and walked for days. And then one day, the boy came upon the monster who had gone west. "I have a name!" said the boy, "And it's such a wonderful one at that!" But the monster who went west replied, "Who needs a name? I'm perfectly happy without one. The narrative of "Monster" conveys the notion that no individual is purely Evil, even though we may find ourselves in disagreement with every single action or thought they portray. "30% "PURE" evil"
@@strangeman876
well I don't see why she would deserve more or less, this woman has done some pretty horrible things (abandoning Tenma, denouncing him even though she knows he is innocent...)
Tenma is 💯 percent good
@@RetiredYae
broken doesn't mean bad and Tenma is clearly broken, a little traumatized by what he experienced
He is 100% good and 100% broken
You let his backstory distract you from the fact that Johan manipulated kids to kill each other because he wanted to find out how they tear each other to pieces.
Johan doesnt have emotions, he isnt broken, you cannot break humanity that was never there to begin with. He is a true psychopath.. he LACKS the fundamental capacity for human emotion. Likely not helped by the fact that he was fucking shot in the head and lived.
He killed the foster parents in germany and told his own sister to shoot him, fully aware that if he stuck around, his sister would never know peace.. She failed him in that, and thousands paid the price for it.. for even while his memories were shattered, repressed and in the dark, his shadow still had sway over him subconsciously.. the old him.
A monster is never born... It's created...
The only difference between a hero and a villain is that the villain chooses revenge from those people who didn't even do anything to him, but the hero thinks for the world.
@@Duck00701 wrong, sorry but psychopathy is a congenital issue and a physiological inability to feel empathy for others, not a trauma response to conditioning
@@Duck00701 further more Johan isn't a villain.. Roberto is a villain, Ronaparta Is a villain, the short guy that wanted Johan to be the next Hitler is a villain, the staff of kinderheim were villains, Johan isn't.. he is just the example that there exists monsters which you shouldn't attempt to control.. he is no different from a xenomorp from alien, every villain in those movies wants to control and use them, but every time they slaughter the villain by showing them they won't be controlled. Johan was BORN this way, not made this way.
@@159tonywasn't johan part of a experiment since his birth which caused the birth of being that can never be controlled and some may say it was the devil
The narrative of "Monster" conveys the notion that no individual is purely evil, even though we may find ourselves in disagreement with every single action or thought portrayed. The scenes in which Johan cried - on the night he asked Anna to shoot him at the library for Carl and upon gazing at the portraits of him and his sister at Bonaparte's house - reveal the vestiges of humanity that remain within him, even after the atrocities committed by 511 Kinderheim.
There are many other characters with even worse past than Johan. Johan's just totally pure evil
Nooooo, Johan is pure evil. as we hear his sister whisper constantly "absolute evil" but still
johan is broken, the pure evil one is franz bonaparta
lunge is broken, abandoned his family and didnt blink twice, flaked on his daughter and his brand new grandchild and adamant on proving a innocent man guilty. He a whole goon😂
Do part 2
Giancarlo esposito is my fan cast for heinrich
Tenma is pure angel❤😊
TENMA IS AN ANGEL. END OF DISCUSSION
Best anime ive seen in years im on episode 13
Someone who actually understands the series and that Johan isn't pure evil.
Demon slayer next please
I’m currently watching this AS WE SPEAK and johan is definitely pure evil and broken
Roberto: pure evil
Exactly he is Worse than Johan in my opinión
Wolfgang Grimmer, the magnificent Steiner❤. Man he's the 2nd best MC after Dr. Tenma. I literally bawled my eyes out when he died. Hes a goated character 🔥
nobody is pure evil i love that
Lunge was a Crazy Workaholic Man
Garou crying in the corner 😢😢
Bro what?
Richard D. Braun was so underrated.
Johan : totally good (killed me 😂)
As someone currently reafing the manga, my brain refuses to believe that Eva and Anna have blonde hair, even though the characters in the manga keep saying that anna is blonde
Johan is pure evil, come on. Also Tenma is just good.
I don’t think Johan got any pleasure from his killings though. That’s what to me makes him broken. It was all one big experiment to him.
@@liamwright2510if he didn't get pleasure by killing. Then why did he kill?
The narrative of "Monster" conveys the notion that no individual is purely Evil, even though we may find ourselves in disagreement with every single action or thought they portray.
Johan, a character burdened by tragedy, has the capacity for concern for others, for he, despite his monstrous nature, is fundamentally human. A purely malevolent entity would not have shown remorse over anything , nor would it have shed tears upon the realization of his abandonment by his mother.
He cares about others like any other human, which is his way of showing it isn't something we are mundanely familiar with, as we cannot comprehend the thoughts of someone who has lived through 511 Kinderheim.
Roberto and Johan are pure evil as they never regretted their decisions,Frantz is broken
This ending screams punk rock, and I(as a fan of Nirvana) like it
Putting Eva in broken category is what i don't agree with, later at the series yeah it does make sense but her introduction and her character was crazy to be considered just broken. And i also don't agree that Johan is totally broken.
Agreed
Johan: 20% pure evil 80% broken
Tenma: 20% broken 80% good
Eva: 70% percent broken 30% good
Lunge: 100% good
Anna: 70% good 30% broken
Grimmer: 90% broken 10% good
Lunge is 30% broken 70% good
Lunge's character development is just 🔥🔥🔥
Johan is so so so broken he's pure evil☠️
Tenma is 120 percent good
Johan is a pure evil man that was pushed by his trauma, I would say its a complicated balance of trauma and evil
No one is truly evil, actions build people
I was so sad to realize that Roberto and Grimme were friends
Eva broken my ass, she left the guy who liked him only because he didn't save a certain person
Them she realizes he was the only one who truly loved her
She tries to get on a relationship with him again he rejects it so eva then tries to get tenma in prison and this goes on for like the whole series until episode 74
A PERSON WHEN BORN IN ALWAYS A GOOD PERSON BUT THE WORLD BROKE THAT PERSON AND SOMETIME IT CAN MAKE THAT PERSON LIKE EVA (TOTALLY BROKEN) OR PURE EVEIL LIKE JOHAN
especially Johan, who was born evil, and he doesn't even try to change, or try to demonstrate something that truly shows that in his darkness, he has even something good.
I'.
M. Sad, because I know this is a good anime because it's old with old animating style because all the new styles I like they look pretty but the old styles holy s***, the story is f****** fantastic. Just look at kogios and boom f****** fantastic.
Grimmer is literally the definition of good
*tenma is the definition of good
pure evil : Roberto
He had a good side at first though...
no hes not pure evil he used to be good when he was a kid he lost all of his memories he doesnt remember anything and Johan gave him a purpose in life and now he works for johan so its means that hes Influenced/Broken
Oingo Boingo fan? Based@@nuclearcatbaby1131
Nope. But I still hate him
I used to think Johan was pure evil but I kind of feel like he's more broken anyway I think they should have made him just pure evil
Lets be honest. Martin is the best charecter of the entire anime. A bad habit of mine.
I love Johan
Roberto is tha devil himself
What about franz Bonaparta
I consider him 99% pure evil, 0.1% good (only because he regretted his actions)
Herr Runge hit hard...
Lunge:Just doin his job
Killua Zoldyck 50% broken , 50% good
Lunge is %50 evil %50 good. Lunge was playing his way, and while everyone was blaming Johan, Lunge was still trying to put Tenma in jail.
Lunge is good, but he can't process that some od his theories may be wrong, when he met Grimmer and heard about Johan, from Wolgang and Franz Bonaparta he immediately started helping stop Johan
that actually shows his determination, and not his evilness...He didn't wanna take any chances...that just shows how twisty cases he has solved
@@superbsiblings_absb2154no.. that just shows his arrogance , he didn't wanted to be proven wrong
@@DJISBESTLunge never really met with Johan until they put him side by side in the chopper. For someone, he is looking at Tenma, who gained a lot after the hospital deaths, skeptical. Until he starts to change his view after the suicide of the kid who Johan thought was Karl. Then he starts to understand that there is somebody named Johan. He just don’t understand how could he be so clean, imaginary. The failed perfect suicide.
@@naufalzamri7266 literally no
Johan came on news , everyone even knew his name , he just never investigated more
The only thing he did in the entire series was make tenmas work 10times harder with his arrogance
Also wtf you mean by that , he basically was 100% sure that tenma did it just cuz he profited from those people deaths...
He didn't even thought of other possibilities
Stop trying to defend stupidity
Nameless monsters went two seperate journey
