I personally hate layering, since i was a kid. I like it on the other, but dont like the feeling of "to many clothes" on me.
That happens in particular when i use two top items of the same weight, like a tshirt and a tank top. They hug too much, they dont stay tucked in, every wrinkle in the underlayer shows in the upper one. I hate it all 😂
Another things that i really dislike is the fact that the first layer can show up under the second. I know that many people just love to show that slit of white t-shirt, someone actively research that look, but to me is just a no-go 🤷
So, i don't layer and i heavily rely on accessories or textures to make my outfits more interesting

Same! I get the functionality aspect of layering and like the look but I just don't enjoy it myself.

A very valid perspective! I love this comment and finding out what works for you. I really enjoy mixing textures as well-for example I would love to incorporate some suede into my wardrobe this year. Thanks for watching!

Lately I’ve been adding my very long strand of fresh pearls to my basics. With it I add my delicate short gold chain with pearls necklace. I get compliments every time I wear them. I recently wore them with dark navy jeans and dark navy polo. The pearls really stood out. With it I carried my lavender crossbody purse. It was fun. Scarfs are also one of my favorite ways to make jeans and a T-shirt look more polished.

I prefer adding accessories to layering. Something I am looking to do, though, is to gradually replace my basics with basics which have something more about them than total plain basic. So more interesting fabric, more interesting silhouette, more interesting neck, stiching, button detail. Still basic and minimal, but not boring.

Love this video! Just a quick question though: in future videos could you show yourself in the outfit a bit longer? I feel like I'm not done seeing the whole look when you're moving on and I really love to take in all the details.

Lovely layering ❤ After years of minimising my wardrobe and pinning down my personal style I realised that I absolutely love wearing basics only. They must be top quality fabrics and flattering cut for my body type, but I love simplicity and comfort that basics offer and that effortless, undone vibe. I only add layers for practical reasons like weather. Shoes have a huge impact on my outfits. I barely ever do makeup other than red lips or eyeliner. I think I use to be on opposite end for too long, having wardrobe full of statement pieces that I couldn’t pair well and that were awful for layering now I just crave modesty and minimalistic aesthetic lol 😊😊

Love the wide leg jeans so flattering on you rather than the straight leg x

Thanks, Trish. I've been styling basics with cardigans and then belts and jewelry and scarves. So many mixes and matches. Makes so much sense

Just stumbled upon your channel & am enjoying it very much. I am working on losing a bit of weight and in a few months, I hope to upgrade my entire wardrobe as well. I am wondering & pondering how best to do this so that the cost does not get too out of hand. I am thinking perhaps a 10 item core for summer/early autumn and a 10 item later autumn/winter…. but which 10 is where I get a bit stuck. I am thinking along travel capsule 5-4-3-2-1 too although that puts me over the 10 - but just something to guide me… a few bottoms & a few tops, maybe a suit of slacks & blazer and a dress that could work with the blazer… Trench coat & Wool coat with a down vest for colder days. And then over time - add to it and build on it. I am trying to imagine myself in various pieces and think about the clothes I have that I love or even in the past, moments when I felt amazing in something and why was that etc…. I would love to hear more about your own journey amd change, what prompted it and even how you began or what would your recommendations be - if you overrelied on basics… where are those boundaries? Anyway - thank you for your channel & what you have shared! I have already learned so much - Best, Lynne

I use basics with unusual jewellery or basics with a colourful kimono jacket
