Over the years, I have collected quite a few handbags, not spending a lot on any of them . Were I to do it over again, your idea of a high-quality small collection makes more sense.

That is a great concept! My fantasy self cannot resists statement bags and I have much much more than realistically needed, while my every day carry backpack is literally falling apart :D

I'm definitely not in the target demographic for designer bags, but nice to see what purpose each bag serves :)

I don't have a link but I got it from a brand called Isabella's Clothing, if that helps. Not sure if it's still in stock tho! Thanks for watching!

I really admire your minimalist approach to bags, but have one question. Is the fact that a bag is branded a factor in your decision process? You said that a loewe was pricey and worth the money. The brand is worth the money if you include the cost of marketing. But I would argue if the bag is the best quality and well thought through design you can buy for what you paid for it. There are many exquisite independent craftsmen out there, at least in my country, making really unique lether goods out of Italian leather. For the fraction of the price because they do not launch a promotion campaign. I have ordered two bags recently that are being hand made especially for me. Doesn't it bother you that you share your bag with half of the Internet? I so sorry, I'm not trying to be offensive. I am just really curious, if the price of the bag is just the cost of the entry ticket you pay to belong to a certain 'brand club". Which you rationalize. I am sorry if I offended you in any way, that was not my intention. I watch your channel regularly and second your fashion choices! Which, also bag-wise, you are totally entitled to make :)

Totally valid question and I answered it in the video but maybe I should have emphasised it a bit more. The reason it's worth it to me is because I admire both the design of the bag and the designer of the bag. JW Anderson put loewe back on the map, primarily because of his fantastic bag designs, so for me that little bit of culture and history is worth paying for because it 'sparks joy' (in the famous words of Marie Kondo!). Hope this explains it a bit more. Definitely agree that nobody has to pay designer prices in order to get a quality product.

@@TrishONeillStyle Joy that is sparked every time you wear a bag is definitely worth the biggest money! All the best and looking forward to your future videos :)

I totally agree that a bag that sparks joy helps to justify the investment. My Loewe Puzzle is that bag for me - style wise, it's a holy grail bag for me, and it was live at first sight!
And yes, we see some of these bags everywhere on the Internet, but in reality, I see very few designer bags. I've never seen anyone else with a Puzzle irl, and while I do see the odd Gucci Horsebit, I don't see them in the mini size or in the colourway I have. In fact, the brand I see most of irl is Mulberry, and while it's not cheap, it's not high-end aspirational either.

@@danishpastry6137 You've made a very good point - social media is a distorted reflection of reality and yt watchers are somewhat biased. I don't see any of loewe bags anywhere else that on the Internet, either. Enjoy your Puzzle! :)

This is such an interesting conversation and I wanted to share my 2 cents, I hope you don’t mind. First of all, I’m from India & I live in India. Second of all, my salary does not allow me to buy any of the brands Trish mentioned, not even if I save up for them (because I earn a decent but not high salary, the currency exchange is not in India’s favour, and these things are on the expensive side even in Europe). However, I love watching Trish’s videos and also the videos of other European/ North American style creators. I watch, not because I’m trying to emulate their style or buy the same things. I watch for inspiration. For instance, I LOVE bags - they are my favourite accessory. And I love Trish’s videos on bags. I watch for inspiration and information. I am interested in the shape or form of the bag and how that works for people. I am also interested in the different features that bags might have. For example, I would never in a million years buy a bag without a zip closure (like the first bag Trish showed) as I use public transport and it would be incredibly risky. So, I watch more for the functional aspect of such reviews/ discussions and then I look for bags in India with similar design aspects.
And as for your question Anna on whether a brand name is worth the amount, I’ve never bought a branded bag. However, if your country/region is known for a certain craft, then such an item will be really well made even if it is not branded. For instance, there are plenty of leather businesses in India (some European brands even have their manufacturing units in India). So while a bag from an Indian brand might not look as fancy as a French brand, it will still be of a really good quality. But it will not look as sleek and will not have the best finishing, which I am perfectly fine with.

No one has the right to be offended by what you do with your money, you work for it, so where you spend it is entirely your choice. Enjoy your *gtdupe* and don’t feel guilty
