Interview (English) - Kumudini Kashikar - A Little Poland in India, The Valivade Chapter

Kumudini, in her aged self, remembers 'Malati' (as Wanda was called in her Indian name) with great fondness. She remembers her cooking, her adapting to the Indian household, and also how the Kashikar family stood by the 'foreigner' Malati (Wanda) against the society.
"We were not present for his marriage. We got to know after the marriage. Then she came home. My father was a lawyer and my grandfather also was a noble man so they said, "If he has married her then she is welcome to stay with us".
My father was a lawyer so he didn’t say anything. He just looked at her and didn’t say anything good or bad. So she came into our home. Even my mother was there. And the thing she used to wear… that Vasant got tailored for her in silk. He also gave her almost 180 gm gold. But she wasn’t fond of gold and jewellery, so she sold it and kept the money in a bank". - Kumudini Kashikar, sister of Vasant Kashikar and sister-in-law of Wanda Kashikar
