To everyone complaining about Owen: If they wanted to just shoot Melanie presenting the info, they would have. They even said this is the second version of it and it was decided to present the interview this way. His questions were really good especially to those who aren't as well adept in the business yet. It added an exciting dimension to the conversation rather than just a lecture. Those who can't do, complain on the internet. A lot.
thanks you for saying so Jessica, I totally agree. Owen is an extremely kind and giving person - in fact, this video was part of a huge free series he gave away. Owen spent so much time and energy putting the series together even when he was battling his own life threatening disease (which he hid well in this video). So instead of focusing on what you don't like, focus on what you can take away from this video and use for your own events. #kindness

thank you very much, I learned a lot of interesting and informative things, everything was clear. I have a question for you, is it possible to independently study for an event manager for online courses plus all kinds of training videos, will this be enough? is it possible to study without a higher education ? Thank you
So thankful for this video! Before you started event planning, did you go to school or get a certificate online for planning? Or did you just start your career?
Thanks Kristen, glad you enjoyed it! I did not get a certification and don't believe it's necessary unless you want to work for a large organization. Here's more on that: eventplanningblueprint.com/event-planning-certificate/
I like the comment about 40% of invitees not showing up...we did have an even where the owner spent a fortune and the guest didn't show up so they had half of the tables empty and wasted so much money preparing for so many people.
@@eventplanningblueprint thank you so very much. My goal is to plan better events for our church and community and not be so frustrated when doing so. Again thank you!
Thank you for this video!! As a freelance event planner what kind of services would you say I could provide to an already well established event ? Specifically during the event. Thank you !
You're welcome Lorna. Happy to help but that's too vague for us to provide any info :) We'd need to know a lot more about the event, your role, what's been done, what's currently being done, etc. etc.
EventPlanning BlueprintTV Of course, thank you for your quick response ! I just got curious when you mentioned that you were asked by a client to attend an event as a consultant but you didn't actually plan the event yourself. I would like to offer my services to an annual beer/music festival and I am trying to identify their needs and how I could help during the event since it's pretty soon...
You need to speak to them about their needs to see if you can or can't help and if it's a good fit. Making connections is how you get hired...being asked to attend an event onsite as a consultant is very different than having a client hire you and offering event services/planning. Get to know who runs and manages the beer festival, what improvements can they make -- chances are they are focused on making money for this event, so how can help with a better ROI? What are they doing well, so they even need your help? All things only they can asnwer for you.
EventPlanning BlueprintTV Wow I must say again just how useful your channel is !! I hope I am not wasting too much of your time, I would just have a couple more questions ... Would you say being a consultant is a good way to make connections ? And, last question, would you have any specific tips for a festival to make more profit ?
Hi Lorna, you don't have to be a consultant to make connections. Anyone can make connections and if you're going to be in the event industry, you need to make those connections and build relationships with other event planners, vendors, potential clients, etc. As for specific tips, again it's too vague because we don't know what they're already doing or not doing, but here are some ways an event can make money - sell tickets, premium tickets, sell sponsorship, have raffles/games, having a VIP room with special tastings (or speakers...depends on the event), digital ads on the website, and of course sell merchandise! Good luck :)
Hi Bamian, that's a very big question and requires a lot of planning. It's more than we help with in this space, but I'd start by reading this post to get started: eventplanningblueprint.com/dont-plan-any-event-without-reading-this/ and if you're planning a national event and you're not an event planner, then I'd recommend hiring experts to do it.
What event have you personally planned that was 30000 people or more? Because that is a lot and not very common because of that many people. Is it a company or a type of festival that I would know about? I would love to read about or see some photos
The event is called GreyCup -- a national football game and festival in Canada (our version of the Super Bowl). I talk about it in many videos and and blog posts :) There are a lot of people in our community planning large events!
i would really like to know how to i would start the event like if i have 1000,000 fcfa will i be able to fund the project. with a rough estimation please?
Hey there, without knowing more about the event, we can't give you a definitive answer. However, we have some articles on the topic. Here's one: eventplanningblueprint.com/event-planning-budgets additionally, we have a full budget breakdown here: eventplanningblueprint.com/eventplanningtemplates

Then it's not a client appreciation. If you're inviting clients to appreciate them, you don't charge. Those would be client events (some may call them something else?!), but they're not appreciation events. The whole idea of having an appreciation event is to appreciate your clients not charge them!
BOTTOMLINE: You should have enough respect to RSVP for any event that requires an RSVP. In this way you avoid the embarrassment of being turned away and spending money on a car rental.
