In store prices at best buy were cheaper than buying it online. I think the regular ended up being around $25 and the steelbook was like $32 if I'm not mistaken.
Fun fact, a good while ago I was at Best Buy with a couple of friends looking through new releases and this one guy overheard us talking about it, and he asked us for advice on what we look for in 4K releases. He then told us that he was working for a company that was going to do a 4K release of Texas Chainsaw Massacre - it was really exciting for me, I told him that I love when they have new art on the cover and the original poster for the case, so I guess that's something he took to heart! He was taking photos and notes of the kinds of releases we were hyping up. Neat to see that the release ended up being good!

Picked up the steelbook for this release, mostly because of the poster it includes but it looks great.

I ordered the SS version. I'm not 100% on what DS puts out but I know SS always done insanely amazing work. Plus I'm sure it'll hold its value way better
I have the blu ray steelbook got it for 10 and it has the 7.1 mix. Is the 4K worth it?
That intro scene of the corpse monument was sharp as hell and the color was so vibrant. Also like you said the night shots were clearer, and I for the first time could somewhat see what sally and Franklin were doing in the dark vs moving shadows like before
I ended up going with the second sight release so I gotta wait to check out a 4k transfer, and yes the feature length doc is on that release also
Watched mine last night and totally agree. Great release that looks fantastic. Given the 16 mm source, I expected some softness/roughness to the image on 4K. I also feel like the 4K benefits more from the HDR and color grading/WCG than it does the increased resolution. I'm sure the Second Sight release will also look amazing (and maybe even "better"). But for my money and convenience, this Dark Sky 4K is a solid restoration and the only TCM release I'll ever need moving forward. They seem to have included all the key stuff I would want in the bonus features (and then some). Wicked slip too!
Got the steelbook yesterday but haven't had a chance to check it out. I also have a qled so I was pumped to hear you say the detail was great! Also picked up the Ghoulies blu ray trilogy you reviewed in a previous video. Thanks for always keeping us up to date on releases & info Chris, you're awesome!!

I think anyone should consider upgrading their tv before buying newer transfers, hdr etc. my 65inch Sony Bravia was $2,300 and it makes even dvd look fantastic.
This.. if tou have a dedicated good 4k player and a good quality TV it does make a big difference..
Wanted to give everyone a heads up. If you're after the steelbook, my best buy has them for 31 bones in store. Online it says 41. I took it to the counter and the kid said that it wasn't in the system. He looks online to see 41. Then, without going to go and look at the price he says the price will be 41, "take it or leave it." So I went to customer service and it took them 15 minutes to try to figure out how to ring it up. 2 morals to the story......#1. The steelbooks were correctly placed and priced. This was evidently a mistake, so I would go to best buy asap before this is corrected. #2. Don't interrupt the 2 associates in computers flirting with each other to try and check out. They will make you pay with stupidity and laziness. Go straight for customer service.
That happened with me. The slipcover version on best buy site is like $35. I went to the store and surprised I got at $28.
@@GCBaXia I saw that! The best buy here in mount juliet has the slip for 25 bones! I can't imagine this slip going unnoticed for too much longer

This was a great release of TCM. I have the Turbine already, and will be getting the Second Sight, so will do a review and see which is best of the three.
I think that the Texas chainsaw massacre should be like that the only way to watch it if you are good horror fan
I really couldn't tell the difference between the 4K disc and the Blu-ray disc that they put out years ago. I say save your money.
if i hadnt upgraded my tv to a qled, i could see agreeing. Im not sure of your set up situation though.

Your reviews are awesome btw. Now the 2nd Chainsaw 4K disc....wow! You can really tell a difference. I'm going to pick up the Second Sight 4K disc when it becomes available and see. I still love the way it looks but I can't recommend people spending close to or over $40 to justify the upgrade with this set.

That new documentary is exclusive to the dark sky 4K cause I was gunna get the second site until I saw no doc on it. I got the steelbook and it looks fantastic was really bummed that it had no artwork at all on the back of the steelbook blank white. And my poster came damaged. Suprised yours didn’t come with poster thought they both did

Honestly I love this release and I can see a huge upgrade from their previous Blu-ray release. It looks and sounds great. I don't understand everybody hyping up the Second Sight Edition, do all these people have region-b players? That's a region B release right? I mean I just have a basic 4K setup so I'd only be able to watch the region free 4K disc. Seems kind of like a waste if I can only watch the first disc. Maybe I'm just the only guy without a region-b player I don't know
What do you think about the UK release from second sight. I got lucky to order it when then restocked don't know how long they will last

I thought this 4K came with the Bluray of the movie too. But the Bluray is just extras. That documentary I gotta see. Only thing...No 4K player or TV just yet.

Really I thought this was already in 4k transfer on the 40th anniversary edition which I have and yes it says now in 4k restoration and this 40th anniversary version editi9n thar I have came out like 10 years ago.. I think this one is a cash grab since u said it basically has older special features that we've already have.. I'm so confused about the release u have.. cause if it's in 4k. Than it's nothing new cause the 40th anniversary edition that came out like 10 years ago already had a 4k transfer. Whats the difference between the one u have and the older 40th anniversary edition that already got a 4k transfer ...if u know which version I'm talking about. . Anyways if anything that's too much money for a newer version just to get something that's not new and already have seen with the special features. Being recycle.. plus like I said the last version put out for the 40th anniversary edition version has the 4k transfer already done for that particular release.
Just not correct. I can understand the confusion, but this is a much better and new restoration for the 4k format, with full HDR.
The Second Sight is going to be a brand new restoration and is going to be much more superior than this release. Moreover, more value of money for the second Sight release
