    Agree on description and photos. We wanted to buy a book on Ebay and the person only had one photo; the description gave no information on quality, condition etc. Of course, we found another seller with same book who had 8 photos and a description though was $3.00 more we purchased that one.

    All great advice. I have trouble finding quick flips like 30% of my items flip quickly. The rest are longggg tail but they have in time helped give me steady sales between both types. I know I can do better than I currently do, but I have tripled my sales from last year and I am happy with that.

    I have done several of the things you mentioned and they really helped. If things dont sell I am working on titles and photos, price and shipping. I have already moved several items that way this week alone. I do sell on multiple platforms. Sales were slow on Ebay this past week and this practise save me on the money end as this is all I do to make a living. Great video !

      I don't use that beecasue who cares if you get a lowball offer. I think its weird how people get annoyed with offers or take things personally. What I do is, I use a simple system. If the offer is asking for 50% or more off, that counts as a lowball and I decline. If it is 50%-25% then I counter. If it is 25% or less then I accept the offer, in most cases (kinda depends on the item and asking price, but majority of those I accept.) Simple. By setting your autoblock so high you're costing yourself a lot of sales you could get to with a counteroffer or two imho.
      Oh the other rule is that if someone comes back after a lowball with a dollar higher, they go on the blocked list. (example: Item listed at $50, they offer $10, I decline, they pop up again with offer of $11 - they're blocked.) Yeah that's annoying to deal with sometimes but it's pretty rare.
      For reference I get approximately 50 offers a day, at least a quarter of which lead to sales.

      I was in the junk aisles of Goodwill the other day, or what Goodwill calls "hardline", and this lady reseller I often see was looking up this random clock. I asked her what it was, was it good, tell me about it. She showed me all these active comps on her phone with prices in the $50 range and she was VERY excited about it. I scrolled on her phone, there were about a dozen active comps, and maybe four of them looked like the one she had. Then I said "do you mind if I do a filter" and she said kind of quizzically, "sure?" so I filtered to Solds. There were two sold, neither of them looked like hers, and the prices were both strikeouts (best offer accepted) on $30ish. I said, this doesn't look good. She'd never filtered for solds before. She didn't understand what I was showing her. She smugly and very snidely said "oh i'm sure this is good, I know what I'm doing" and I noticed her cart was full of crap. She happily put the clock in there with all the other crap. This is one of the reasons why when people talk about reseller competition and how much thrifts get picked over, I never get worried. Because the majority of them are exactly like this lady, who really are doing us a favor because they're decluttering the racks and aisles for us and taking all the crap home with them and getting it out of our way.
      Incidentally I know her store on Ebay and she's got over 2000 listings and about 147 solds in the last 90 days. She's just a hoarder.

    I’ve been selling since 1998 on eBay and I sell mostly Lego unopened. here is a case where free returns is bad. I rarely do free returns because I’ve been scammed from a buyer who buys a Lego set, takes out the minifigure(s) and returns the set. I get screwed because the set isn’t new and sealed anymore, it’s now missing the minifigs, and I lose money when trying to resell a loose set. What are your thoughts on this?

    • @FlippingJunk
      @FlippingJunk  Месяц назад

      Certain items I think it's better to not offer returns and I'd probably not offer returns if I was selling sealed Lego just to try and discourage scammers. If someone wanted to steal a mini figure they still could by doing an item not as described claim and forcing you to return it anyway, though. Sometimes on sealed items that are high dollar, I don't do returns. Also, I don't do returns on things I sell for parts or as is.

      Now, UPS and FedEx both I've had INCREDIBLY AGGRAVATING issues with. There's sometimes zero accountability with either of those companies.

Also I sell lots of stuff where the sell thru rates are garbage, don't let that scare you, items do sell and not completely true that they NEVER WILL SELL. At least I find that! Plus shipping and shipping charges are totally different. You guys in America have such cheap shipping within USA!! Here in Canada, shipping within Canada is sooooo expensive, I always laugh at how you guys think shipping is so much! Example, here in Canada we don't have Media Mail, so heavy books for example would cost upwards of $20 CAD or more to ship! Also love how eBay USA calls us "international" shipping when we are neighbors lol. Anyway, again eBay Canada and eBay USA 2 different things!

    I do not know why ebay sellers do not offer "free shipping" while factoring in the cost of shipping on how they price their item. For example: If a shirt is selling on average for $29 plus shipping on ebay then why not just sell it for $35 to $37 with "free shipping." And this can be done by researching sold comps on all items. Even heavy big items. This seems like the easiest way to do shipping. It seems like ebay sellers over think the entire shipping process. I buy things on ebay and wonder why sellers in my own state send me an item priority mail that weighs under a pound. They are paying more when they could have just used ground advantage. This seems to happen ALOT. I would go as far as to say that over 90% of ebay sellers just don' know how to save money on shipping items. I have even seen some ebay sellers on youtube say they buy their shipping supplies from uline. What a rip off that site is. Shipping supplies are sold dirt cheap on ebay.

"I don't know why sellers can't add 2 plus 2 and would offer free ship when it's not they are just jacking up the price because they are a fine crook" treat your customer right,be honest, and do not pay yourself into the hole there's no profit there. Why does it matter if it’s $35 with free shipping or $30 plus $5 shipping? After all you still pay $35 plus tax. For lighter items, I know how much stuff would cost me to ship so i just add that as flat rate shipping fee ( obviously if i see people list for $35 free shipping, im not gonna list for $35 plus shipping) As for someone send stuff via priority mail for stuff under a pound, they are probably new inexperienced sellers. And no, free shipping is not the effective way for big heavy item. If you are in new York and need to ship to California, the different cost in shipping is huge. Might cost $20 to ship to New Jersey while cost $60 to California. I have been selling on eBay for 15 years. Don’t seem like you are a seller ( not professional who do $100,000 a year or more ) so I don’t think you’re are qualified to criticize other sellers.
