They knew we'd been having issues getting my stuff back and they knew my mother. They took a loss to help us. She had the audacity to actually be mad at me and act like I was in the wrong for demanding to know what right she had to sell things she didn't buy. We've since paid him back because we're in a better financial state, but it is something I'll always remember, so if I have something to sell I wont do business with any other pawn shop. They didn't have to do that. They didn't have to even give me my things back, they could have charged for it, they could have not even told us about it. There was no way to prove she had stolen that stuff because I was 15. They went out of their way to do a good thing and I love them for it.

@Kyle Marsun … Says who? You realize these gen airpods are like $250, right? Asking just over $100, If he went lower that would be an obvious red flag.
I think it's sad how the lamp was in his family for 140 years and he got 50 bucks for it. Guess it's better than throwing away, but still it's a piece of family history.
The problem is when you get older, you're the last one in a family line what do you do with the stuff you have. I never had kids not that kids even care about your parents, or their parent's lot of them have their own things they don't want all this stuff. I think about all my father's pictures he had of himself and my grandparents. All their things what happens to it when you die gets thrown in the trash. My grandfather was an artist going back the 1930's. He did lot of painting in the 1980's also none of it is worth anything what do I do with it? Even the older stuff there is one art gallery who he used to sell his things at maybe they take a few of his paintings they won't pay me for them. They already have lot from when he was alive haven't sold, he passed in 2005 at age of 95. When I get closer to my 70's going to just get rid of everything don't want bunch of stuff left behind. Rather liquidate it and donate the money to an animal rescue.
I don't really get the hand me down thing. Possessions are just millstones around your neck. When you are gone the people left to deal with things are in a bind dealing with things. It can create bad will and guilt for everything they end up throwing or giving away.@@Mike-01234
I just found this channel and I'm loving it, I love how real and down to earth,it's great seeing all the pets and the family atmosphere and best of all the honesty, I thought that was completely lost in this country, he shows people online what the items are worth and even tells them about the profit he needs to make, excellent content and i wouldn't hesitate to do business with him
Beautiful lamp, but Pete's right. These lovely old Bradley Hubbard lamps don't sell for as much as one would think for such a lovely antique. 20 years ago I bought a large, Victorian era brass hanging lamp that came from an old general store in a small Texas town that had shut down in the 1950s. There were pics of the lamp hanging in the store circa 1880s, over the heads of shopkeepers sporting handlebar mustaches. This particular store was THE store that my great-grandparents shopped at. It was a day trip by wagon to go there, about 20 miles from their farm. My grandfather was one of 12 kids, born in 1882. I loved him and knowing that this same lamp hung over the counter where my ancestors shopped was too cool to pass up. I bought it on eBay for $175 including shipping. It was sent by Greyhound bus and it arrived in perfect condition thanks to the very careful seller.
@Lazy I Ranch I really want to send something via Greyhound bus now! Your story is lovely and evokes a certain nostalgia for me as I have been in several old towns that still operate a general store. St. Elmo in Colorado is one such place that is more of a novelty now, but they keep the town as it would have been. I can see the handlebars milling around in my minds eye with these light fixtures above and the wooden shelves and glass cases. I am really glad that you were able to hold onto one of the very items that holds the memory of your family history. Incredible, thank you for sharing.
Not to mention the fact that he was asking full retail price, lol. Even if they were real and not stolen, Pete would have lost money on them 😂 You could see how easy it was for him to say no. On other videos he hesitates, not here.
Stumbled across this channel by pure accident... I'm English, lived in Tennessee for a decade, now back in England with my American wife. Absolutely LOVE this channel. I've not seen anything newer (hoping you're still making them) because busy watching all the older stuff. But your personality, pets and sense of humour really makes me wish I lived close enough to pop in the store and have a cup of tea and a chat with you :)

I can't imagine selling my stamp collection. To me this guy either picked it up at a yard sale and has no emotional investment with it or more likely he is so desperate that he is selling it. It's heart breaking.

You have potential and with a little more cameras and editing skills, you’ll definitely be getting more views. Anywho, I enjoyed your content so you just got yourself another subscriber. Keep up the great work.
I learned my lesson on stamp collecting when I took the collection I had done as a kid to a dealer and tried to sell it. I didn't have anything rare or valuable, but a lot of stuff from the 1920's up. He offered me less than face value for everything. I laughed at him and told him the Post Office will give me face value for them. Then, I went and sold them to the Post Office up the street. Stamps are a waste of money unless you're willing to do a lot of research and spend some big bucks.
Stamp collectors are slowly dying. Not many people under 60 years old are collecting stamps these days. Too many other, cooler things to collect nowadays.
Great story behind that lamp, funny how the guy tried to act like he didn't know what you meant when you said those ear buds were HOT!! I would love the Uline Dispenser.

Seeing the cat and the Bunny together reminded me of this story: Back in the 70's I lived in Colorado and had a bunny that lived in an enclosed outside 8 x 10 deck out my bedroom slider door. I had a hutch for him to go in at night and keep warm, but he loved running around all day in that enclosed space. One time in the Winter we had a big snowstorm over the course of a couple of day and the snow piled up over 2 feet in that space. that bunny loved it and made a ton of borrows all thru it and just stayed in there, I didn't see him for a few days so I was worried and cut into the main living area of his borrow. There he was curled up snug as a bug with the neighborhood cat. I could not believe it. It was a sight to see. LoL ( I always use that brown paper water activated tape for shipping my stuff. )
Crazy enough I was wondering after being a fan for a while where you were from. I had a feeling it was a polish accent! My stepdad’s mom was from Poland. Love to hear it 🫶🏼

Peter and everyone - My Uncle got me into STAMP collection a long time ago and thought that having a good Stamp collection would be worth something in the future. I went into a Coin/Stamp shop several years back and asked how much my Plate Block collections would be worth and found out they are NOT WORTH collecting/investing anymore. He wasn't even taking any collections anymore and said that I might as well use them for postage stamps. So I stopped wasting my money on getting anymore stamps for my collections. I have them all stored away in books in containers. Note: a minted plate block stamp is a block of unused fresh stamps and has an associated plate block number which is supposed to make them more expensive than just a single stamp. So people, DO NOT get into collecting stamps - it is not worth the effort - unless you just want to see all the pretty artworks on the stamps and learn historical information on each stamp through the years.
I collected stamps when I was a kid ( 1960's ) and had a pretty good collection. Plate blocks and plates with Mr. Zip, etc. In the late 80's I was struggling to make ends meet and decided to sell. I calculated the face value of all the unused stamps and took them to the coin shop. He would not even give me face value - so I ended up using them on my regular mail envelopes. Some of the stamps went back to WWII - so some of my envelopes had five or six stamps to make the correct postage.
Such an horrible thing to hear after all the time and care put into a collection like that, I hate that for you guys. You have that number in your head, only to have your heart broken like you went into pawn stars.
I don't think that most kids collected stamps as an investments. When I was a child 55 years ago, Dad got my brother and me stamp albums and sent off for a bag of stamps. I loved all the different shapes, the languages, the pictures. We asked dad about the countries they came from and where in the world those countries were. I still have an album somewhere. I don't think I have ever bought something with a coldly cynical view of what I can sell them for sometime down the line, not even the house I live in.
I’ve never been to America or seen what a Mexican looks like or speaks like only in the movies, but this guy definitely gave some weird vibes and not a movie villain type of vibe but a real life villain type of vibe.
If I can give you some advice, I wouldn’t call out people like that and say their stuff is stolen. Those types of people only need a very small reason to do harm to someone.
@@FA--X01 Why risk it? I would just nah I'll pass on this one, I don't think I can move them... etc. No reason to antagonize someone who you think has no problem robbing a store
He never said he stole it directly. He implied that maybe who he got it from stole it but never said it directly to the guy. He also said he hopes it isn’t but he doesn’t want to buy stolen merchandise and that’s his business. When it seems too good to be true, it usually is. Apple is very smart and will put holds on stuff that is labeled stolen from a snatch and grab and whatnot.
I buy expensive stuff all the time and then decide I don't want it anymore and sell it to someone else for cheaper than what I bought it for. makes perfect sense to anyone if you ask me
Same thing with the unopened power tools , why wouldn’t you just return them for full price instead of selling them for half at a pawn shop if you really bought them 😂😂
It's got to be hard to tell if stuff is stolen or not, yes? I imagine if they're covering their face because they know you're recording might be a giveaway... 😂
He said he bought them on offer up for like 125 each which is damn near retail. Then tries to sell em all once driving from a hole difference city. Doesn’t make sens for him or pete money wise even if they weren’t stolen. Something was off.
What’s great about all of these videos is that moment of realisation when they spot the camera. They are almost picking the item back into their bag as the first questions get asked. Brilliant stuff !

That parlor oil lamp sells for quite a bit more and I hope you end up selling it for closer to its worth and giving the man who sold it to you a lot more because he completely trusted your knowledge and expertise.
I would argue that it's up to the person selling to do a little research and know the value of the item they are trying to sell. If you don't then you get what you get.

I think it's sad how the lamp was in his family for 140 years and he got 50 bucks for it. Guess it's better than throwing away, but still it's a piece of family history.
Indeed, unfortunately sentimental value is different to actual value. Personally i would hold onto it and try keep it in the family longer.
Why sell something so special? For what, $50 ? The lamp will live on! It's the $ 50 that will quickly become history!!😅
Maybe he thought there was no interest in his family for it. Better to clear clutter. No point leaving it for someone when you've gone.

"U-line dispenser." Thanks for the great content over the years. That one dude seemed super sketch. The oil lamp guy is a gem! Thanks Peter

Yeah stamps are worthless
Or you could just collect for your own entertainment and not as some kind of "investment".
When Poncho Villa shows up you know there is going to be a problem. What a clown.

LoL ( I always use that brown paper water activated tape for shipping my stuff. )

Zip, etc. In the late 80's I was struggling to make ends meet
and decided to sell. I calculated the face value of all the unused stamps and took them to the coin shop. He would not even give me face value - so I ended up using them on
my regular mail envelopes.
I subbed your channel.
I enjoy your politeness and courtesy, even during efforts to steal from you.
Stay in good health.

He never said he stole it directly. He implied that maybe who he got it from stole it but never said it directly to the guy. He also said he hopes it isn’t but he doesn’t want to buy stolen merchandise and that’s his business. When it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
