Although I am not Jewish, this by far my absolute favorite family channel. Too many of these "family" channels are all about "Look at me! Look at how fabulous my life is. Look at me!" I am inspired after watching every video. I am more connected to my faith. My relationship with my husband is improving, VERY slowly, but still. And I'm feeling better about my role as a mother. I feel good after watching any video! I don't go away feeling like I'm lacking in my life. Thank you! Also, I suffer from severe depression and these videos are part of my care plan! So again, thank you. Much love from Wisconsin!

The idea of a private library where you can share your resources with your friends and eventually, your neighborhood, is such a cool and cute idea. Along with the snack baskets you made for Purim, I love seeing communities (and neighborhoods) acting as a village 🤝🏾 than strangers. We need more of that ❤️

I am so impressed! I love to read-even though I haven’t had the time to do so lately. I was a library aide for a year in a middle school and loved every minute of it. (I took a break from teaching pre-k that year.) I read so many books that year. The one thing that prevents me from loaning out many of my books is that I forgot who I leant them to and I have ending up not getting some of them back.😢 This program would be a great help in inventorying our books. I just realized that I have 3 copies of “Love You Forever” that I bought over the years for my children and grandchildren. -not the only book I have multiple copies of because I forget what I have.
I am looking forward to next week’s Purim video.
Have a blessed week and Shabbat.

When I was in middle school my friends and I tried to create a library in the garage. It didn't last very long, and it wasn't nearly this organized, but your video reminded me of how passionate I was as a young tween about collecting books and sharing them with people. I don't purchase books as often anymore (libraries for the win!), but this video gave me such a smile remembering when this was a dream of mine, and it reminded me that it's something totally still doable one day in the future if I want to try it again!

When we moved home 3.5 years ago, I took a 'temporary' pile of books for myself and Iris but I have obviously, ha ha, added to them in the same way you have. Now I have no room left in my one bookshelf. I love the whole idea of the system and colours. If hubby read then I would have to be careful as he is red/green colour blind! The whole shelf with Mama Homeschool had me nodding with joy as I have them all as well. Honestly, you could be a private library consultant and I would pay for you to organise mine. I am an avid reader and love books. I have passed that love to my children and now my 10 grandchildren. I think what you have done is absolutely amazing. Something that we do to share the abundance of books our family has is about 2-3 times a year we do a book exchange. The kids and grandchildren pick a few of their favorite books, we gather at one of our house, we allow the books to be exchanged( borrowed) by others in the family. We have cookies and milk and someone reads aloud to the group. It’s a great reading and sharing day. The most recent one, my 10 year old granddaughter shared her love of the artist Frida Kahlo (she even dresses like her ). It was so fun!! ❤

I love this especially the color coding system and the LibraryThing app. Great tips. I also love books and have used FOL extensively. I have not previously considered a home library but I certainly have enough books for that. I am also a piano teacher with a large music library. Over the years I have allowed students to borrow music books. Thank you for showing step by step how you catalog a new book. Maybe it’s time for a new system! Thanks again.

You also need a stamp to put your name / library name in the book!

This was such a neat video! I really enjoy all things organizational and literary. When our daughter was little, she shelved all of her books like a small library with non-fiction assigned Dewey decimals and fiction assigned slots by the author’s last names. She now is a post doc teaching writing and Shakespeare.

I absolutely love how organized your library is! I've always had lots and lots of books (okay, maybe not 1,000+ but still lots 😂). I've tried so many times to organize them but they're always put back in the wrong place (hint: even adult kids do this 🤦‍♀️).
I love your color-coding idea! I've actually done that with office files back in the day when we had files cabinets and tons of paper. Each letter had a different color so, when I opened a drawer, I knew immediately if something was misfiled. But, it also made it easier for my employees to refile folders like it does for your children. I wish I had done that at home with the books.
BTW, I recognized quite a few of your books especially the Charlotte Mason ones! Love, love, love the Handbook of Nature Study and The Fallacy Detective. I wish you much hatzlacha with your library!

Speaking of books! I have just read the book “South of Sepharad: The 1492 Jewish Expulsion from Spain”, a novel by Eric Z. Weintraub. Wow, what a book. The characters are so rich and true. They are brave, true, and heroic, to be sure, but they are also confused, frightened, floundering, and fallible. The description of their places and time are brilliant, so that people and events are firmly seated in the realities of the world they lived in. Can you tell that I am blown away by this book? My only regret is that it ended too soon. Eric Weintraub, if you are reading this, please continue these character’s lives! Anyway, this review comes from an old Christian who wants to know more about Sephardic Orthodox Jews because I follow Jar of Firefles. Thank you Chana!

Bravo bravo to you 👏🏼👏🏼.. your children are getting such a wonderful exposure to literature of all types ( or is proper grammar kind, I never remember this rule☹️) and such a wonderful education. I am in awe of the job you are doing as chief educator in your family. Again , 👏🏼👏🏼

Wow, a ton of books 📕. I think it’s great that your kids are good readers. I’m an avid reader, I started listening to audiobooks. We have moved a lot due to my husband’s job. I usually keep my favorite books and put the rest outside in a box with a sign that says “free books “ .In our development, there are “mini libraries” , you can put the books you are done with and take a few if you wish. These mini libraries are about every block or so.

Wow on the book collection and library. You are becoming the keeper of all the books to share with the community. I can buy books from the local charity shops from 10p each and have given them away to others like my niece and nephew. I think I saw that book, the Saturdays in one of the charity shops in the past week. You will probably meet so many people in the community with the library.

Hannah what a wonderful idea for your library and I totally agree that it should be friends , people from your synagogue and home schooling that you know it is in your home and the room where you homeschool your children and you want this to enrich your love of books not be something that becomes a job .
    Again fabulous idea .
