I went and looked for a link to the crock pot liner, but when I clicked the link from my recent orders, it linked to something else (a totally different kind of crock pot liner). But if you search for silicone crock pot liner, there are lots of options that pop up :)

Let's meal prep! In today's video I chat with you about how I set up my weekly meal plan, do the grocery shopping, and make all the dinners for the week on Sunday afternoon. Thank you for meal prepping weeknight dinners with me!

Ingredients:
1 onion, diced, sauteed
2 jars Ground beef
1 can tomato paste

1 can kidney beans
2 tablespoon cumin
2 tablespoon coriander
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 garlic cloves squished
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Add all ingredients to a pot, mix well, then bring to a boil. Cover pot and simmer on low for at least 3 hours.
Serve with corn chips, on hot dogs, on fries, or just eat as is.

Sante Fe Chicken
Put in the crock pot: 2 cans corn, 2 cans black beans, 2 cups chicken broth, 1 package chicken breast, 1 can diced tomatoes, 1 packet taco seasoning. About half hour before serving, start rice on the stove. Remove and shred the chicken, add it back in and leave the lid off the crock pot. Serve on top of the rice and garnish with cilantro if desired.

Cook 2 packages spaghetti pasta according to package directions. Drain and place in large bowl. Add 1 cup of shredded cheese, 3 cups spinach, 1 can mushrooms, 2 jars spaghetti sauce. Mix well. Place in baking dish. Add a generous layer of cheese and top with Italian seasoning. Bake at 350 for an hour.

You could also try to make one warm meal for lunch and then keep something extra for your husband when he comes home and then just do sandwiches (which the kids can put together themself) for dinner. It’s quite normal here in Germany and we even call the last meal of the day Abendbrot which literally means evening bread. A lot less stress, less dishes and less heavy food before bedtime.
I love that idea!
Nice to watch the ingredients you combine to make a flavorful dinner. Preparing the food in advance is very important for large families , especially for the homeschooling types , that the kids are around you all day, for the days to run smoother.
Can I add another idea. When you make the bag of Santa Fe chicken, prepare two other bags the same ingredients and put them in the freezer.
Then you just have to remember to defrost them around a day in advance., and continue with the rest of prep into the crock pot.
Most meat based meals , if there are no potatoes, can be prepared to be cooked , and then frozen. YOu will be suprised how much it becomes a time saver, and you will start making up 4 bags of the same thing of Sante Fe, or whatever meat based meal, and label and put in freezer. Then you label it RAW SANTE FE. BON APPETITE!!
Great idea! This day I only had the one pack of chicken :)
Good idea.
Also, for a balance of easy dishes and less one use plastic, Dollar Tree has large plastic bowls with lids (orange lids) that are in general the perfect size for crockpot / pressure cooker meals that can then be washed in the dishwasher. So, like your silicone crockpot liner, but for your plastic bag meals. They're also freezer safe.
Shavua Tov,hope you and your family are doing well! Love from Israel 🇮🇱
Thank you so much Devorah! Hope you are well also!
I loved watching this while I did my own meal prep. Yay for cook alongs! You are such a calming presence and a gem in this world. Thank you for sharing that love and light with all of us.
Thanks so much 😊
Your videos brighten my day!!
You are so kind! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me ❤️
Yes baby firefly is now toddler firefly
I make a double batch of a meal and freeze one.
So smart!
We prep the following ready for suppers:
- shepherds pie
- meat and veggie hand pies (we freeze those raw on a baking sheet and then move to bag when frozen)
- lasagna soup
- filling for chicken pot pie. I just place it in a Pyrex and lay puff pastry on top when we are ready to bake.
- stuffed pasta shells. Can make this dairy or meat.
- we always have quiche in the freezer
-tuna patties
-lemon, parsley chicken
-eggplant roll ups
- lasagna roll ups
-sweet and sour meatballs
-cornmeal blueberry muffins by Brynie Greisman
- onion stuffed rugelach
-meatloaf
- blueberry lemon pancakes
Amazing!
Thank you so much for sharing this, Chana. I am currently a mom (2 boys, ages 7 and 2.5 years) working full time, homeschooling my oldest, and finishing my Master's degree. Getting dinner on the table has been an absolute NIGHTMARE the past few weeks: even when I'm home at dinner time, it's so very hard to find time on top of my own classes.
I was having a terrible spaghetti craving this week, so I made the baked spaghetti last night (subbing in my Italian-American family's beloved spaghetti sauce and making a small pan without spinach or mushrooms for the kids but offering them a veggie they enjoy as a side). It was a massive hit! I'll be trying the Santa Fe chicken next week while my mom watches my boys at my house and can babysit my crock pot.
Thank you so very much for not glossing over how hard it can be doing what some assume is just the basics of life when kids are involved. Toddlers are no joke!
Toddlers are for real no joke! You are doing awesome :) Enjoy the ante fe chicken! Its one of my favorite meals :)
For the chili, looks so good, I put white beans, black beans and fordhook Lima beans ( my grandfather, obm, loved them) makes a great chili
Thank you for your videos. It is motivating to see someone deciding on goals and working through them. I have mobility problems due to bilateral drop foot and have been using a walker for the last 2.5 years. About 6 weeks ago I started seeing a physiotherapist and am exercising everyday to get some of my balance and mobility back. I watch one of your videos while I do 30 minutes on my exercise bike. This keeps my motivation high. I can already walk around the house without my walker now so onward and upward! I'm sure people get different things from your videos which are a great help😊
Wishing you continued recovery! Thank you for your encouraging words! I really appreciate you!
Thank you for these great ideas! I wish you and your loved ones a very fun and peaceful week. 💙

I'm so glad! Thank you so much! I hope you enjoyed!
Hi Chana, always a joy to see you 🥰 Looks like you are mastering meal plan/prep & I do hope it makes life a little easier for you. Nothing worse than a mad rush at meal time when everyone is tired and hungry ! I do meal plan every week, but yet to get to grips with prepping head, some useful & good ideas here for me to gain inspiration from, so thank you 😊
Thank you! I am so glad you were able to get some inspiration here especially since you are an experienced meal prepper!
Hi Channa Really enjoyed your video this week, Meal planning and prep can make such a difference when you’re busy and boy are you busy with your family! Whenever I cook I always make at least twice as much as I need (usually more) so that I can freeze the rest for meals on another day. It saves me so much time and it’s nice to know there’s always something in the freezer for dinner!! Hope you and your family have a good week❤️❤️
So smart to make extra and freeze! So happy you enjoyed this video!
Just glad you threw a jar of ground beef into your chili and not a jar of fireflies ... How great to have a pot of chilly chili in your fridge, waiting for hungry family members! And the baked spaghetti is a recipe I definitely have to try.
I'm not Jewish, but today (Shevat 4) would be my Jewish birthday. :-)
Its such a time saver! Not just the cooking and cleaning time, but the not having to think about what's for dinner :)
Thanks Chana! You inspire me to get organized!
You are so welcome! I’m so glad it inspired you!
Oh my goodness, that Silicon Crockpot Liner would be an absolute GAME CHANGER for me! I completely nerded out when I discovered crockpot liners because they made clean up so much easier, but if that can go in the dishwasher *perfection*!
One of my favorite make ahead meals is Mississippi Roast- but I use chicken instead of beef, Vegan Butter instead of dairy, and usually just wing it for spices because I almost always have the spices and dried herbs in Ranch Dressing Seasoning in my pantry at all times and the pickled peppers (banana or pepperoncini are a MUST and they're not too spicy either but add a great tang to the whole dish). :D
Total game changer! Thanks for the meal suggestion!!!
Chana, I was feeling so down today. Then I saw you had posted a video and I immediately cheered up!
Have a wonderful week! ❤
I hope you have a cheer filled week! ❤️💐💕
Here is a suggestion to combine a couple of your go to's: Serve chili on a plate of spaghetti. Skyline Chili in Cincinnati is famous for this. I've actually purchased this brand in the frozen entree section, but you can easily replicate it with your own recipes. Just top your spaghetti with chili and add some taco or Mexican blend non cheese on top and you have a "two way". For a" three way", add onions. You could even add cut up hot dogs and have chili cheese dog spaghetti.
That sounds so fun! Thanks for the suggestion!
I need to start meal prepping again.
Thank you for the encouragement!
So happy this encouraged you! Happy meal prepping!
I loved the meal prep idea!! You covered a lot in your video and it got me inspired to do one!! Thank you so much ❤
You are so welcome! I am so happy to hear that this was useful!
@@jaroffireflies could you do more videos like this? I love all your videos but I have played this video several time already!!! Lol
Hi Chana, what a great video. I enjoy watching you cook/meal prep! I always have some pancakes in separate bags in my freezer that I've prepped. All you have to do it put them in the toaster (or oven in your case) and fry up some eggs or beyond sausage and dinner is ready in no time. 💙
Do the pancakes reheat ok? Do you do it in the oven? Or just thaw and eat? I’ve seen that people do this, but I’ve never been totally sure how it works logistically 😊
@@jaroffireflies I thaw them on the counter for a few minutes and then pop them in the toaster, they heat up great. I haven't tried in the oven but I would imagine you could do it that way. I think they're just as good as the day you make them. 😀
@@SusanP674 awesome thank you so much!
Maybe you could have a "kids cook" dinner weekly, where they plan it and cook it, themselves. You might be pleased at what they come up with!
My kids would love that :)
Yup. We've gotten a little lax with this recently, but my 14- and 16-year old are both responsible for dinner once a week each.
1) They can't complain, they made it
2) They'll leave my house knowing how to cook
@@Terahnee I think that’s all fantastic ❤️
@@Terahnee So true. Boys and girls should know how to plan, shop and cook for themselves when they are young adults.

Glad you enjoyed it! I don't even know how this managed to not have background noise lol
Another easy clean up hint- just mix the baked spaghetti in the baking dish and skip the bowl

I do love a good slow cooker recipe!
Hi Chana!! Thank you so much for the great video. Meal planning is so essential in the world we live in today. I used to work in a school cafeteria. We did a 3 week rotation with our menus. It makes life so much easier. I love your grocery list!! I live in a small town and grocery stores are limited. But a list still helps. I love your videos so much. I’m not Jewish but I admire you for the life you chose to live. We pray for Israel and the Jewish community. Wishing you the very best. God bless!!
Three week rotation sounds perfect! I’ve got work to do ❤️ thank you for sharing and for your kind words 💐

Love this video and your great ideas. I’m definitely going to try the baked spaghetti and Santa Fe chicken. They look delicious. You are super organized and I’m feeling very envious right now. LOL. Have a wonderful week!
Hope you enjoy!!!! So glad this gave you new ideas!
Check out crock pot freezer recipes I did it at times. You make it it freexer bags, You put all the ingredients into the bag. Freezer them and pull them out, throw it into the pot and there is dinner in 4-6 hours. Even if there are only 4-6 meals that everyone likes it would be great to have it ready to go into the pot. There was a fast food restaurant around me a few yearsa ago that served chili on spaghetti.
Thanks for the idea! We have tried that. It’s been hard to find recipes my kids enjoy too
@@jaroffirefliesI agree, the concept of crock pot cooking is great..the taste is not so wonderful. Soups work best in my house I prep all the veggies, canned tomatoes, beans etc, freeze, then just add broth to cook , later add some pasta.
Very Good . Praying for everyone 🙏💗💙
Love you and your Family ..
Thank you Mary! ❤️
Chana, your videos are helping me become more observant again. Thank you. ❤️
Oh wow that is amazing!!! Thank you so much for Sharing that with me! It’s so encouraging ❤️❤️❤️
You don't need to boil your spaghetti. Sit it in cold, salted water for two hours or so, make your sauce towards the end of the two hours, rinse the (now soft) spaghetti to get rid of some starch (just a gentle rinse) add to the sauce and cook for a few minutes, then pop it into the container for baking. This way your sauce sticks to the pasta, instead of having to chase the sauce to coat the pasta while eating. X
What? Please don't do that 😢
Lol. Google it.Try it. One of my sons is a chef.
Usually, I'd agree, but gluten-free pasta doesn't respond in the same way as regular wheat pasta.
I always enjoy watching you and learning more!
I'm so glad! Thank you!

Shalom Chana. Thank you for listing the recipes. I want to try the Santa Fe Chicken and the Chili for sure.
It’s one of my favorites! It’s also really good on tortillas which makes it even easier to prep without having to make rice ❤️
Girl, you are so organized!!! I plan on starting this after I move because dinner is exhausting at the end of the day.
Dinner is legit so hard for me! I love this system. The only thing I would change is to add more variety in the meals, like I was saying about a two week (or even more) rotation.
@@jaroffireflies the end of the day is hard in general . I just want to go to bed. 😭 so it is dinner , clean up , prayers and then sleep. I am getting old. 😅 but winter just drains the life out of you.

❤ this video! Also tacos, soups/stews, crockpot fajitas, etc.
Thank you!!! Ohhh crock pot fajitas sound delicious!
Instead of baked spaghetti you can also do a pasta bake.
I use 500g (which is a standard bag size here) of dry pasta, two ~400g jars of sauce rinsed with about a half a cup of water total), bake at 180 C (350 F I think is the closest) for half an hour covered, then take out, stir the pasta, top with mozzarella (I grate mine since the pre-shredded ones here usually have ani-caking agents that don't make it melt nicely) and bake for further 10 minutes until golden brown on top.
There's no need to cook the pasta ahead of time, there's enough liquid in the sauces (+ the water used to rinse the jars) that the pasta cooks really well.
Thanks so much for the suggestion!
@@jaroffireflies no worries! I don't know how well that stores for meal prep per se as I've never used it that way but it's definitely a one dish dish that's easy to throw together when you don't have the energy or time.
@@LadyMephistopheles it sounds super simple and worth a try!
Chana pretty soon we'll be celebrating 50K subs for you! Your channel has grown so much since I first subscribed to it. One of my make a head's is Pesto. Can't remember if Pesto's can be included in your kosher diet. In summer when I have a lot of basil or greens growing I blanch them in boiling water, drain, squeeze, then in a food processor make complete Pesto batches adding cheese, nuts, & oil,& salt, put them into canning jars with head space, label/date & freeze them {I do not not can them}. It lasts so well. All I need to do when needed thaw then cook pasta. If you know of Becky from 'Acre Homestead' {also on youtube} she also has a TON of other make ahead freezer meal ideas.
Becky does amazing meal prep! I’m in awe of all she does! And she’s so nice too! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for being here and a part of my channel community ❤️❤️❤️

It's so good! I hope you enjoy! Thank you for your kind words! That sante fe chicken is one of my favorite meals!
Might try that for a Shabbos meal when my turn. Thank you
This really inspired me! I cook from scratch and do not have many canned foods, and unfortunately I did not have time to do any canning from the garden this year, but I want to prep like this too…it will just take more time…like cooking down the tomatoes I froze this summer.
I’m so glad you got inspiration from this! Enjoy your meal prepping!
Great ideas! I love the plastic wrap trick!
My standard make ahead is baked ir boiled chicken ,shredded, and put into one or 2 cup portions in freezer bags and frozen then I try to have a bag of frozen veggies, broth and rice or pasta on hand for instant soup. Also will use the shredded chicken portions for casseroles, or chicken salad, or fajitas, etc.
Love that make ahead tip! Might need to try that! It’s so useful like you said for soups and salads! Also tacos!
I do exactly the same thing. I do all my cooking on Monday, watching you while doing this !!! I feel much better knowing things are done. I also properly wash and store produce in glass jars...no more throwing stuff out this way.
That’s awesome!
Is a good idea when you have kids to organize a weekly meal plan. When my kide where little I used to do it too. Monday green beans, tuesday lentils...😊 Easy for me and easy for the kids to assume what mesl we eat.

I Love the meal prep day idea. I wish I would have thought of that when my kids were little!!!!
Its been a total lifesaver here for me lately!
I’m in Canada. I hear about crock pot liners on American RUclipss. I’ve never had a problem cleaning my crock pot. Soak it for a few minutes and it just wipes clean. So I don’t understand why one would use a liner. I like your silicon liner. At least there is nothing going into landfill.
Lots of good uses for liners. I use liners to cook multiple things at the same time within the crock pot for example.
I love the idea of a meal prep day. I just need to put it into action. We have 2 refrigerators with freezers and a stand up freeze so storing the meals would not be an issue. I do make a monthly menu for suppers so meal prepping wouldn’t be that hard.
Have a great week and a blessed Shabbat
Wow that's so organized that you do a monthly menu! I have goals for this :)
@@jaroffireflies my husband only gets paid once a month so it is out of necessity because I do the bulk of my grocery shopping once a month. If I didn’t we would probably be eating cereal and peanut butter sandwiches by the end of the month.😜
@@shawndavis824 that totally makes sense!!!
Hi Chana! I love your videos. In our house it’s just my husband and me most of the time, and getting supper for him is easy. He enjoys a protein like steak or baked chicken, and a salad. No problem right? Except I hate making salads big time. I’d rather scrub the bathroom! So I try to make a big salad once a week. I need to go do that now, but I’m busy watching your video 😂 Have a great week!
Lol I hope the salad wasn’t too bad to make! Washing all the salad veggies is such a whole thing so I feel you on that!
Hi Chana, Happy New Year to you and all your loved ones! I spent the holidays back in Philadelphia and also at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport in a layover before I boarded my flight back to Los Angeles. I had plenty of RUclips videos I had downloaded while flying. One was of this extremely talented evangelical classical musicians of 11 kids! Yep from the ages of 21 all the way down to 2 month old!!! It once again reminded me of what a wonderful home school mom you are by not filming your children nor exposing their real names or health problems! I watched this home school mom and dad who obviously love their kids expose them to the internet and in my opinion to any creepy thing that could happen to them! I noticed the elder children are expressing embarrassment because they are being filmed all of the time. So much for remaining anonymous in NYC! They show weekly food hauls at Costco , Trader Joes while packing their van up with their purchases called The Happy Caravan. Their RUclips station is called that too. So once again Chana- I love watching your broadcasts and more than anything I just love seeing that there is a home school mom in Texas who is absolutely awesome! 💖🙏🏻☮️🇮🇱

Thank you Camille! 😊

Super smart!
I would LOVE to see what you do in order to maintain Kosher when you can meat.
I don't have to do anything special really, my pressure canner is meat equipment, so I just have to keep that in mind if I'm canning say vegetables
Chicken piccata with gluten free fettuccine or linguine is a good meal, salad on the side. Or meatloaf
Yum!!!
Much love and suport from Barcelona! I'll save the vídeo for t'he night time.
I'm into know more about cook and you have so good vives.
Thank you!
I *do* have my meal plan for the next 8 days and I actually prepared 3 meals yesterday. I'm feeling quite accomplished lol!
I'm doing the January (and potentially February) 'pantry challenge' where I do my best to stay out of the grocery store(s) and just make meals from my pantry & freezer.
I've also been keeping track of what we have for dinner every month to see what our 'go to's' are and what are 'misses' are so I can make a 'master menu'. I want to eliminate buying random ingredients that are 'one off's' and then just sit in my cabinet going bad.
That’s awesome!
A good option for you may be shepherds pie, im not sure if thats an English thing but i made today and was really good and would be so easy to keep in the fridge or freeze. Cook the mince meat similar to a bolognaise then boil potatoes , i add some sweet potatoes an its really good, then in dish put the meat and mashed potatoes over, i add a raw egg and keep mashing it makes the potatoes creamier like butter would but its non dairy and low calorie. You can put in oven untill top crisps straight away or you can leave it in the fridge and then the day you need cook in oven. Its nice with peas, carrots, beans or a salad.
I love shepherds pie! Sadly, my kids do not 😔
You have inspired me! I was complaining about adulting to my son the other day. I said "it's so hard to figure out what to make for dinner every night!" He replied "ya know mom we don't expect different things every night." Wow that was a wake up call to me and then your video comes out! I'm really going to think about your plan and how I can do that too. Thanks so much.
Love that! Seriously though, if you have a few meals the family loves, put them on repeat!
Great ideas! We have two easy meals for those days that I just can’t come up with an idea. The “snacky supper” which is typically cheese, crackers, hummus, veggies, and fruit. The other is “fend for yourself” 😂😂😂 Hey, only two adults, so we just find whatever leftovers or easy to make stuff for ourselves. As always, I really appreciate and look forward to your videos. I hope and pray you and your family are able to cope with everything happening in Israel and here in the states. Stay safe!
Your snacks supper sounds exactly like our snack boxes! I love the fens for yourself idea and I’m sure we will do that as my kids get a little older :)
I love crock pot meals and liners!!! Have you tried meatloaf in a crock pot!??? We like it! Really enjoy watching you!
Oh meatloaf in a crock pot? I’ve not done this! Sounds really yum!
to get all the tomato paste out in one shot- use a can opener to open the both ends= remove the lid from one end- the push the lid of the other end through the can- and it's all out of the can
also- when my kids were younger and we were running from one thing to another plus working part time- i would prep onions and bag then and freeze- and my best friend in those day was my crockpot lol- wish we had the instant pot back then
Thanks for the tips!
You are so organized!! (Mostly impressed with the laminated paper write-up😂😊)
As a homeschool mom I’m pretty sure my laminator is my all time favorite purchase as a classroom supply ❤️
I love your comment this is not my normal spaghetti boiling pot - isn’t that the way it goes in the kitchen? Don’t have the exact pot, oh well, another one will work. Don’t have a certain spice , oh well this one will be a good substitute ( hopefully ).
improvisation is the hallmark of cooking. 😂
Yes 😊
Hi Chana
U probly know this but u can get gluten free, kosher ricotta cheese for your lasagna or macaroni at Whole Foods or online
Happy national spaghetti day! Lol
Oh thank you! I’ll have to look at Whole Foods! I’ve been having trouble finding it
Sometimes on a Sunday, you could do a Shabbat leftovers taco bar. Who knows, Moroccan tacos could be the new greatest fusion! Another meal prep tactic, if you have the freezer space, is to make two of whatever you're prepping and freeze the other for another week.
That was going to be my suggestion. Cook enough for two meals and freeze half for later. Another meal I like is crock pot stew and then serve with dumplings made at the last 10 minutes, or served with buns.
Great suggestions thank you!
Hi.. I like this and the soups.. will you post your laminated sheet? Also will you do a two week rotation meal prep?
I haven’t done a two week rotation yet. There’s been a lot lately throwing me off :) as for posting the sheet, I don’t have a website so I don’t have anywhere to post it.
