A superb kit assembly, mate! The DT-03 became one of my favorite "modern" chassis, due to its ease of assembly, simplicity and robustness. I painted my Neo Fighter Buggy entirely with PS-46 and the result was pretty good. I am now giving the final details to the Lotus Tyrrel P34 1977 Argentinian Grand Prix. It is very different from my original P34, the chassis is now the F103, in carbon and allows the use of both Tamiya and Li-Po batteries, but the latter must be shorty, it does not like conventional hard-cases (they do not fit due to thickness). This kit does not include more than the motor (Mabuchi 540 RS, basic) but I have installed a 4000KV Surpass Hobby used in the M-Cup. In part I am glad that I did not find the almost usual TBLE-02S because despite being able to use brushless motors (sensored ones) it admits only NiMh and LIFE batteries, it does not have a voltage cut-off for Li-Po. Great video mate, it always makes my day to see one of your videos. Thank you very much and keep it up!
Thanks mate! I think the DT-03 will be one of my favourites too, for the same reasons. The PS-46 would look cool! The P34 should be a sweet looking car when it's all done. Yeah they are quite different to the original. Haha that will fly with the 4000kv motor! 😂 I think I'd prefer Tamiya not to put the TBLE-02s in the kits, would be good if they used the Hobbywing 1060 instead, although it can't run brushless. I still use the TBLE-02s in a lot of my cars, I just use a LiPo alarm and set it at 3.4v per cell. I've had no issues yet, but the 1060 is still better for brushed motors. Glad you enjoy my videos. Have a great weekend! 👍
Bought one for my daughter, as a Kyosho man it was very cheap, the cheapest Tamiya out there and dirt cheap on Amazon. She loves the build and I was really impressed as the chassis is really solid when compared to other Tamiya kits and I was surprised how well it goes in standard form with a NIMH battery. I would recommend as a first kit for anyone! May have to get one myself 🤔
Oh nice, I'm sure your daughter will have many hours of fun building and running it. It's awesome that she like building them too! They seem to be much better than a lot of other Tamiya kits around the same price. Haha yeah, you should get one for yourself you can race with your daughter. 🙂👍
Hi, good video. I already have a DT-02 (Sand Viper) and this or the Racing Fighter will be one of my next runner / basher builds. Good video, thanks for that. I agree with you, it really looks good. I don't understand why it is so ignored by most of the Tamiya fans.
G'day! Thanks mate. I too have a Sand Viper (I haven't built yet), maybe I should have built the DT-02 first 😂. Glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah, I'm not sure about that either. They have a following but not as big as I would have thought. Perhaps a lot haven't really looked closely at it because of it's low price, maybe they think it can't be very good for that money 🤷♂️. From what I'm seeing it looks like Tamiya might have done very well with this buggy. 👍
Hi there Mick and what a wonderful DT-03! I’ve just bought one of these too. Got it off Amazon for £79.00, with a torque tuned motor too, along with oil shocks as standard and ESC, extremely good value! Ive purchased bearing s too. I notice you’ve been naughty with another two! Great tip with the shim’s. Easy though Mick, moaning about the rain, starting to sound like a whinging ‘Pom’! 😉😁😊only us British are allow to whine about the weather 🤣😂🤣😂 great video buddy, nice to see you’re feeling better. take care and all the best to you and the family 😉😁😊
G'day John. I think they're a pretty cool. Oh nice, lucky you getting it for that price. It seems everyone has found them quite cheap recently. I've had these for ages now, and feeling pretty sad because I paid top dollar for them 😭😂. Haha I kinda have to mention the weather otherwise people are asking "when are you gonna run it?", "why haven't you run it?", "why aren't you running it run now?". So it's just much easier to tell people what's going on in the video rather than type it 50 times 😂 Cheers mate, all the best to you and yours too! 👍
My youngest just built one of these with me for her birthday present... she's had a decent bitnof fun with it so far...and now I'm thinking that eventually I'm gonna want another one...
@@RCHobbyShed she does some racing already, with another buggy... this one is just for tooling about in the yard or random places we go... for extra wheel time to develop those reflexes and coordination...and for the build part of it... Cheers...
It's a great buggy, Mick! Like I said, I got 4 of them myself, or actually one of them is an Aqroshot, to be honest... And 2 of them will become something else than a Neo Fighter, I got those in the pipeline (vague Anthrax reference there). The other thing that's cool about these kits is they are cheap, so just buy them for the parts... Anyway, I hope you recover soon and the rain stops, you can go out, drive some RC cars. Take care, mate!
I agree mate, although I've not driven this one yet I can tell it will be great. Haha it seems most people have more than one. Just goes to show it must be a great buggy! Will be good to see what you come up with for the ones you have in the "Pipeline" (haha nice!). I'm pretty much over the flu now (thanks mate) , just waiting for the weather to be nice then IT'S ON! 😁 Have a great weekend mate! 🙂👍
Hmmm, I just noticed I need to clean my Ultima! 😂 The body looks VERY close. A lot would need to be trimmed off the rear of the body, so the back end of the side windows will kinda be right up against the rear shock tower... So not too bad. On the front it's hard to tell as the body is trimmed much narrower at the front than the Ultima. I think if the body is trimmed differently at the front it may fit OK, you will be left with the original trim lines on the front of the body though. Apart from that it may just need a little squeeze to fit through the front shock tower. Hope this helps Cheers mate! 👍
Gday Mick this was my first build in 2020 after my Hornet in the mid eighties. I think it is ideal for getting into RC. I have twigged around a lot with it as you can add so many hop-ups. It is very light at the front so if you use a big KV motor it will do wheelies like a dragster so it needs weight up front
G'day Ian! Great first (getting back into it) build. Wow, that was a long break from RC's mate, or at least building them. We always seem to come back though, no matter how long away from it. 🙂 I think so too mate, perfect entry level kit. I've seen there are a lot of hop-ups around for it, that's always good to see. Haha yeah, some weight in the front might be a good idea! 👍
Good to see you fighting fit again Mick! The buggy looks fantastic! Very tidy as always mate! Yeah you have to do a frog theme next it looks awesome! I have seen one done in the Hornet theme too on the TC and that looked pretty cool. I must pick one of these up l bet they make great garden bash buggies! Great stuff mate 😉👍
Thanks mate. Still in limp mode but that could be just me 😂 I think the Frog one will be next. Then who knows, I might end up with a fleet of them lol. Thanks mate! Awesome, another great report. I've only heard good things about these kits. It's quite refreshing, especially for a buggy at this price! 👍
Yeah they're very sloppy on the front. The rest of the kit seemed quite nice but the front wheels were real let down. Oh well, the shims fixed it. Good to hear, I've not heard a bad report on the way they run yet which is always a good thing. 👍
Very nice job.Mick, I've heard good things about these . I've had it with this weather, too cold and wet even for the boats . Hope you get better soon. Take care mate.
Thanks Peter! Me too mate, not heard anything mad so far... well apart from the wobbly front wheels lol, but that's nothing really. Oh yeah, the weather is very ordinary. Even when the sun comes out it's only for 10 minutes then raining again lol. Have a great weekend mate! 👍
