Loved the video, very interesting ! I never even thought of Mario as a tracer but it makes sense ! Could you add the list of games mentioned in the video ?
Yamakasi was just soooo cool !! Plus i had the incredible chance to be trained by 2guys of the crew who made a great parkour club called gravity (close to Paris)
Another good parkour game is karson, it is still in development made by another RUclipsr called Dani the devlogs and game play on his channel is amazing. And he makes other great games too. :)
1:40 Ninja Gaiden back in 1989 was the first time I saw vertical jumping up a wall and grabbing the wall to jump higher up the wall, or jumping back and forth between 2 walls to progress upward.
Thanks Scott, for putting that huge amount of time into this video! I did know a good bunch of the games, but there are a few I've never heard before, good stuff! Still got that Brink Tour shirt in my closet as a memento to the good old times :x
You missed one game that kinda has parkour in it. Nadeos "Shootmania" mainly is a fps-game but has a game-mode where you have to traverse a given course the fastest you can using walljumps, ropes, rocketjumps etc. Like its better known big brother "Trackmania" it even has a map-editor, where ppl can build theire own maps and share them with the community. I've seen some really sick parkour-maps there. :)
I love Mirror`s Edge Catalyst. This game is much better than first game (Mirror`s Edge). There are not so much parkour tricks, but also enough of them.
For me personally, my top 3 games which revolutionized parkour and movement in games are the Sands of Time, the first Assassin's Creed, and of course, the favorite, Mirror's Edge.
Dying light made me interested in parkour. I cant wait for dying light 2, the feeling of getting chased in the middle of the night. Jumping from roof to roof man what a feeling
I feel touched by this video. Mirror's Edge is meaningful to me. Before that, I played many games mentioned in the video, but I only called adventure games. It was from Mirror's Edge that I knew Parkour and started to learn Parkour in real life. It's a pity I stopped because of many kinds of stuff and mostly no friends to play and train together. But it's still good to see these nostalgic things. Thank you.
I feel like COD Ghosts really pushed parkour in FPS games, it was the first COD to have fast mantling and sliding. It seemed like every FPS games after that got fast mantling and sliding and even more parkour maneuvers.
I liked Brink quite a bit and the thing that held it back most was that not many ppl played it, so most of the time all I could do was play against the computer and that was either very easy or absolutely impossible. I really liked the movement they implemented and it made the maps feel much bigger than they actually were since one had so many options to get from point A to point B.
There's a Street Fighter character called Rashid, his fighting style is fictional but it is listed as parkour. Bit like how Lili from Tekken has turned ballet into a fighting style.
Wow amazing video you introduced me to so many awesome parkour games and reminded me of some awesome parkour games too thank you and well done on the video
Thank you, this was an AMAZING video about parkour and video games. To me the word parkour really came into play through films. Most notable of them all was District B13
Datae on steam is making a mirror's edge style mod for Garry's mod, Deadwater on YT has used to make two amazing videos: Gordon Freerunner and Portal But Parkour
Wow you really took me back in this video a lot of great memories and I remember being obsessed with parkour after watching that documentary and watching video games implement parkour getting better and better every year! One of my favorite games of all time is Getting Up and the parkour mixed with graffiti made me love that game, your video was put together really well big ups to you 👍
I'm honestly still losing my mind over the fact that multiple wall jumps can actually be used to climb, I've never seen something like that done before.
Two older deep cuts: The Specialists was a Half-Life mod that recreated The Matrix (with more martial arts influence like the movie, but plenty of 3D movement) The old Counter-Strike subgenre of kz_ maps predates the Minecraft climbing maps by a couple decades
The later Far Cry games have also featured some freedom of movement. Here's a super difficult post-apocalyptic parkour map I made with the Far Cry 5 editor: ruclips.net/video/JqPQGmbTwFA/видео.html
I loved making my Nintendog do a barrel roll when he caught the frisbee.
Tell me how to develop these skills .
I havent touched my ds for about 2 years uhh they're probably dead
I love dying light, can't wait for dying light 2

Loved the video, very interesting ! I never even thought of Mario as a tracer but it makes sense !
Could you add the list of games mentioned in the video ?
In France, most people discovered parkour with the release of the french movie "Yamakasi" in 2001, which was quite a hit!
The first ever parkour I watched was B-13 which was also a french movie
What a baguette moment
Yamakasi was just soooo cool !!
Plus i had the incredible chance to be trained by 2guys of the crew who made a great parkour club called gravity (close to Paris)

True Pk/FR is honestly the best Parkour game ive ever play so fun!
Thanks Scott, for putting that huge amount of time into this video! I did know a good bunch of the games, but there are a few I've never heard before, good stuff!

I'll add a game that's not list :

There used to be a Multiplayer parkour game called "Free Jack". It was basically a racing game with parkour.
Oh yeah !! I just comment the same thing !
But it's like none have ever heard of this game !!
Man you forgot a totally focused parkour game :
Freejack.
A freerunning /parkour racing game from 2010.
A game you didn’t list and you wouldn’t suspect is satisfactory, with the slide and jumps and i even build a parkour map myself!
What game?
@@derpydino17 as said, satisfactory
I love Mirror`s Edge Catalyst. This game is much better than first game (Mirror`s Edge). There are not so much parkour tricks, but also enough of them.
I actually got introduced to parkour because of Vector

Thank you! Finally someone appreciating unity's parkour lol
I love titanfall 2 and I think it has the best mobility of all games. It’s sad that it has been Ddosed
For me personally, my top 3 games which revolutionized parkour and movement in games are the Sands of Time, the first Assassin's Creed, and of course, the favorite, Mirror's Edge.
Nice video! I also remember counter-strike having custom modes to train (bunny hop & precision), before Minecraft I think.
Dying light made me interested in parkour. I cant wait for dying light 2, the feeling of getting chased in the middle of the night. Jumping from roof to roof man what a feeling
++
Thanks for the feature! So excited for the future of parkour in video games!

Cool video.. Donkey kong was not the first to jump. I can name one Janitor Joe on MS dos a jump
Vector and dying light 2, I llove those games and the best parkour games i've ever seen and played
I feel like COD Ghosts really pushed parkour in FPS games, it was the first COD to have fast mantling and sliding. It seemed like every FPS games after that got fast mantling and sliding and even more parkour maneuvers.
You’re right. It’s a standard feature now, though I think titanfall deserves more credit for it.
@@AMPISOUND YEAHHH LETS GOO Titanfall best fps game ever

Before your Supermario comment, I wouldn’t have thought it, but the (early) Dizzy series of games on the speccy had very satisfying rolls.

Thank you, this was an AMAZING video about parkour and video games. To me the word parkour really came into play through films. Most notable of them all was District B13
Most notable, way before B13 : Yamakasi.
i got this as an ad, i’m not complaining
Nathan drake : Am I a Joke to you
I believe Ninja Gaiden (or one of its sequels) had a functional wall jump on the NES, long before MegaMan X was a thing.
You forgot Ninja Gaiden here among the very earliest examples. Also Sunsoft's Batman. Both of these have wall jumping.
Amazing video, I love this kind of games :D
Datae on steam is making a mirror's edge style mod for Garry's mod, Deadwater on YT has used to make two amazing videos: Gordon Freerunner and Portal But Parkour

Really well made video Scott.
Check out 'Inside' if you've not before! Apart from being a masterpiece game it has some lovely Parkour mechanics.
I'm honestly still losing my mind over the fact that multiple wall jumps can actually be used to climb, I've never seen something like that done before.
Great video! Looking forward to more quality content 👌🏾

Wait you guys did the Dying Light video bro I remember watching that video so long ago. I didn’t even know you guys did that video.
Here I sit on my Island with my parkour video game inspiration being completely attributable to Sonic the Hedgehog.
Yeah Vector was a big parkour game in mobile players community
Vector was a legend
Why does no one ever mention Sunset Overdrive when talking about parkour in games? It’s one of the most ridiculously fun versions of it.
Nice vid, I hope the youtube algorithm blesses you

Surprised that warframe was not mentioned.

It is a sin to exclude Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in this video as that was one of the games that paved way for parkour popularity.
Jedi : Fallen Order (and Survivor)
You forgot talking about subway surfers
