- What to see in Port Of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago?
We went back to Port Of Spain from Tobago by ferry. At our arrival, we decided to explore the city and find great West Indian food.
These are the things we did during our day of exploring:
We walked through Chinatown
Ate Pholourie and Aloo Pies
Went to the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception
Ate Doubles
Walked along the Brian Lara Promenade
We stopped by a police station with the star of David
Went to the Red House
We loved walking around Port Of Spain even though Maria had some challenges pronouncing the name of this wonderful city.

The first Government Building on the site of the existing Rd House was constructed between 1844 and 1848. The building was destroyed by fire in the Water Riots of 1903.
With D. M Hahn as the architect, the Red House was then rebuilt using the most of the external walls, but with added galleries and the Chambers at the northern and southern ends. Additional ornamentation in neoclassical style was added to upgrade the appearance and the building was reopened in 1907.

Que ver en Puerto de España, en Trinidad y Tobago?
Volvimos a Puerto de España desde Tobago en ferry. Y al volver, nos fuimos a descubrir la ciudad y probar comida deliciosa de las Antillas.
Estas son las cosas que hicimos durante el dia:

Again with that spice. Maria, I'm also a fan of dipping breads in different sauces. That church was beautiful. Doubles looks amazing. Getting doubles in Trini is like icing on the cake.

Why are you guys crying about hot spices? Lol! Seems everything has Chick peas in it there. Is there a history of some sort as to why they cook with that so much? I love eating from street vendors.
It's the Indian influence in Trinidad. Not everything has chick peas but a lot of their plates do. Check last week's video with the top 5 foods of Trinidad.
You know we don't eat no spicy food hahaha we are chickens hahaha
We also use the DJI osmo! the video quality is good and so handy on the go! haha good point, "selfie safety situation" loll
Hahaha we don't necessarily use it a lot but it was handy in Trinidad for sure and we were surprised by the quality of it

Going around without a map or GPS is pretty brave. I get lost all the time even with those things. The boat ride looked cool. 3 hour ride is no joke. Tamarin on food is our families favorite.
Tamarind is delicious! Lieles wasn't very happy with the boat ride but we did what we had to do lol we had to get back to Port of Spain and there was no flights available

Very good video. Although you were safe to avoid criticisms by talking positively about the smells of Charlotte Street (China Town) I would've understood if you hinted that you can smell the drains as some spaniards did in another video.
Hahaahha, we didn't mention it because we didn't smell it.
All we smelled was food and when stopping in the stands, some veggies and herbs were very smelly.

I would say consistently since oct 2018 but we started our channel in 2017
The Mamuchos Seems like this community we are in all started uploading consistently within about 1 year from each other. We started a little later, March 2019 (but first uploaded 2016). We only had 32 subscribers going into March 2019.

The aloo pie looked so good, and Maria's mixed plate looked amazing! You can't go wrong with tamarind sauce and chick peas! The doubles looked bomb as well, and have never tried them, but know we would love it! Great that you guys told them to hold the pepper this time!! LOL

Hey guys, great content‼️I'm a Trini (as we Trinidadians say locally 😅). It's a really nice country in so many ways; lots to see, to do, and to taste, with great cultural diversity and heritage. A major downside to our country though (apart from our deplorable roads -- which shouldn't be because we have our own pitch lake) is the crime situation. Particularly robbrery and larceny. I would say murder but it's usually gang related and never a problem for tourists. Crime is a problem we've been dealing with for some time, and as a citizen I really wish it never existed here. Anyways, not tryna scare you, just wanted to highlight stuff like that especially as you guys may not be aware of the everyday situation in terms of safety and perhaps might decide to extend your stay into Carnival or return in the future.
Be alert when out and about and don't be too naive 👍🏾 much love to you guys 🙏🏾 🇹🇹.

We didn't want to talk about crime since we didn't have specific data, but we read all about it.
Fortunately, we didn't experience any of that, but we didn't go out at night time and I think that is one of the factors.
We loved our time there and wish we knew how to commute around more without having to spend money on taxis, the prices we were getting to commute in taxis and or vans where out of our reach.
But all we did we enjoyed and hope to go back one day and experience more.

The Mamuchos ,He knew you all are tourist. He was just people watching. Criminals in T&T. Do not dress like that. This is how professionals dress. Shirt and tie. He probably work at the car park.. Especially using a selfie stick! I am from Trinidad. So I know! I took offense to the sketchy remarks. I have done that many times in the U.S. watch people pass by. He seems bored and just decided to watch u pass by.

The cathedral was so beautiful, can't believe it was built in 1781. Crazy that it had a fire there at one time. We love seeing old churches and temples.. It definitely transports you to the past. That's great you got to go to Chinatown too.. always a great spot to hit when out of town. Great video and love you guys to the mother effin' moon and hope you're having a wonderful trip!
I'm from Trinidad and something of an amateur historian. I don't recall a history a fire every affecting this church. Maybe it was the original building made of earth and wood at the back, that existed since Spanish times (before 1797). There was an earthquake that destroyed the top story of the two towers at the front. They were replaced by wooden structures.
The Cathedral has been recently renovated.
Yes the Spanish one is the one we said it caught fire, which I believe as I said in the video was in what is now know as tamarind square.

The arch went up in May 2019.
They had two big waves of Chinese immigration. The history in Trinidad is so interesting

Well I'm glad yall were In POS too. It's just to see the night life on the western side of the country now. Visit Maracas Beach. See the Pitch Lake (deep country side). And experience our Carnival now.

I won't get into the details of how close yall were venturing into the 'not too nice' parts of Port of Spain 😅. Secondly.... Coffee after eating doubles?! Please feel free to admit to us that she had a horrific experience with the bathroom upon returning to the air bnb 😄. That was not a good mix for a first timer, Lol. I (Maria) am from Spain. Lieles' father is from Trinidad and his mother side is from the US.
No I didn't have to go to the bathroom afterwards, even though I'm the video seems that it happened right after the doubles, a few hours had passed between the doubles and the coffee.
There's definitely a lot of things to do in POS and we will be back to enjoy them ☺️
