So cool! I just bought a Microtech Stitch yesterday! Love it!
Where did you find a stitch available?
@@brianbrennan5416 I actually went to a walk-in knife retailer, and bought the last one the had. It was a store called Mr.KnifeGuy in Utah. But I saw that GP knives has some in stock!
@@brianbrennan5416 almost all major knife website retailers have them in stock
I got one thanks guys
@@brianbrennan5416 awesome dude! God bless you
I just got my Microtech Anax. Absolute S tier knife, the quality on this thing is amazing.
My prayers were answered finally more Microtech reviews 😁 💪 thank you MC , hopefully one day I’ll buy my dream Microtech knife my first one
MC, this is Tony Marfione we’re talking about. Don’t try to make it make sense, you’ll just hurt yourself 🤣
I picked up one of these in bronze earlier this year. It failed on activation or retraction fairly often, I did some tests, and it failed roughly 7% of the time, out of a sample size of 300 fire/retractions. Compared to my other Microtechs, which have failed a handful of times over several years. Sold it almost immediately. Could have been the specific one I got, but the fact that it failed on video for you makes me think there’s something wonky in the internals.
I have the same one also in bronze and I haven’t had any problems with it, and compared to my utx-85 I think atleast my makora is more reliable on open and close. It is a lot harder to operate than my utx-85 about twice as hard, so maybe that has something to do with it, not sure.
Keep in mind that with the makora, what people tend to forget is the nickel boron coated internals. The slide track, springs, duel locking bars and the button housing are all nickel boron coated. It’s actually pretty cool to see, I’ve taken my makora apart. BUT, the coating is extremely thick and dense and does not become effected by lubricants other than powdered graphite. Due to it being such an anti corrosive coating. You ever wax your car? Notice how the water doesnt gather on the paint after? Instead just beads right off? Same thing happens with lubricant on the internals of a makora. You can literally see oil (I’ve tried gun oil, and rem oil) bead up on the coating I wish I could record it but I don’t have a tripod. Anyways, that coating makes these makoras pretty stiff and hard to fire, and at times even misfiring. Smooth and easy? No, not at all. Not sure why they say that. Extremely durable and anti corrosive? Absolutely. Not that I’ve ever wore out a regular microtech, but if there was a limit for a regular one, the makora should surpass it. Either way, amazing piece of work all these knives are.
Wow that’s sweet! I got an ultra tech d/e a few weeks ago and actually wish I had a Mekora to compare it to. As always, Great review MC!
Your about to see the same exact thing once again with the new release of the (2022 "Daytona") Microtech has brought that back from the dead, and it is a spittin' image of the UTX-85! 😂
Yeah I ended up getting this one in the apocalyptic finish a while back. Pretty cool knife and very similar to a d/e ultratech
You need the longer glass breaker when breaking windows under water.
I Love it I just bought the King Cobra but I like the button placement better on this . I need this one . I hope Everyone is doing Great today . 🙏🏻
The blood grooves in the blade is different. I don’t see the place for this way too similar especially with ultratech 2 out now.
What these are is an Ultratech that’s been Scarabized. I think it’s freakin’ sweet, just ordered the stonewash/black version. It’s a sweet edc defense/utility knife.
Where can I find the community link for knives you want to review?
Stationed overseas so my parents back in the states are actually holding onto this very knife for me til I can finally claim it. I was eagerly waiting for this review MC, preciate you man!
Unboxing* haha
Wow, I was literally looking for any reviews of the Makora last night and now I see this today. I'm kinda torn between getting a Makora with bronze blade and hardware, a black Troodon with stonewashed blade or a Turquiose Hera with DLC blade. I've been leaning towards the Makora since it appears to be the best one to grip and use, although I've heard the Hera is excellent to grip and use too. Lol decisions, decisions......................... And thanks for the great content MC, you rock!
Find a Dirac Delta
Personally I’d go with the dlc makora. The bronze finish really doesn’t hold up with use but it doesn’t really matter if you just want something pretty.
@@paulbosley6448 crazy, I’ve been looking at Dirac Delta’s online today. Sounds like i need to go try one out and see how i like it. I’ve never really used an OTF with a firing switch on the center of the case, does that make a big difference for you?
Definitely would stear clear of the bronze if you're going to edc. I got the makora with full serration in stonewash and edc and it's holding up great. The bronze will wear off pretty fast with use.
@@anthonym6078 I prefer it. But my brother hates it. He's been packing an ultratech for like ten years so I figure he's biased. I actually carry the dirac myself. I love my Dirac Delta but the smaller Dirac is my go to. Fits great in my hand, and it's so light I carry it clipped to my shirt.
People's calling the ultra tech 2 the step side.. Glad you showed me the difference. I thought the handle was a good bit longer on the makora! 👊🏼
That is weird that it misfired, my ultratech double edge does it every once in a while too
Damn wish it was OG markora size but it's pretty n cleaner than a standard UT I need one. But MC what about the new Anax?....thats the review I need.
In love with mine red with stone wash. I’ve fired it about 1000 times no failures so far feels great in the hand and love the clip since the Ant! Sorry MC I know you hate the clip! 😂
Not that it justifies the price increase, but all the new Makora’s are supposed to have nickel boron coated internals.
Also much more detailed work on the frame and it’s wider in the frame and the grind work by the fluting is primo!
I like it better because it doesn't have the big ultratech logo on it. I'm not crazy about all of the billboarding on the pocket clip on the new one and I don't understand why either have to have silver screws. But these knives have always made me wonder.. can they be used for anything? Like could you stab say a big rump roast in the kitchen repeatedly with one and not have it go back inside the case? What if your rump roast had a bone in it and you hit the bone? They seem crazy expensive for a fidget toy I'm just wondering are they more than toys?
@@einsteineinstein7782 Ok... I'm sold. Very impressive performance as a tool, not a toy at all. Thanks!
These are definitely not toys and hold up to very hard use. I was surprised the beating mine could take like a champ.
The only difference I see in your unboxing is Ultra handle is rectangle and Makora handle has shape. I'll agree the internals will definitely swap over.
I’m just waiting for them to bring back the Halo series, I’ve wanted a Halo VI Hellhound for months now but they’re going for near a grand on the secondary.
I have changed how i feel about microtech they put out all these high dollar knives and 5000$ custom knives and there is never any LUDT or SOCOM ELITE in stock i guess it's about money 😒
I want a otf so bad, but I live in Norway so I have to travel to the US and smuggle it up where the sun don't shine through the custom. So much hassle....
Of all the places I would not want a switchblade, I can honestly say that in the ol prison wallet's at the top of that list.
Worth it
Some of the added cost I think is nickel boron internals in the makora. Worth $100 added? Ehhh
About to buy a hogue deka
Think of the new Makora as the Makora v2, they haven’t made a Makora II v2 yet. The Makora II is the longer blade. This gives me hope they will make the Cypher again.
Apparently the makora has nickel boron coated internals and the ultratech does not
Ahhh I love you MC🤣
I had a few misfires right out of the box with my UTX-70. I was disappointed because of how long I waited for one to be available in the configuration and blade steel I wanted. It's also my first Microtech. The spine of the blade was catching on the inside of the frame
I love Microtech but this doesn’t get me excited. I’m sure many others will love it though
Maybe they could have called it the Ultratech 1.5? The texture is nice but I don't think it's enough to call it a completely different knife from the Ultratech. And imo, I definitely love the texturing more on the Scarab than the Makora, foe whatever reason the Scarab design just looks perfect, especially the shadow version🥵
So what I hear you saying is, “if you want misfires, you’re gonna have to pay an extra $100 for nickel boron internals” haha
I thought the Makora could be opened under water
Kind of annoying how similar it is to an Ultratech. I agree they should have called it the Ultratech II instead of that stupid step side model. Really wish they would made it a 4 or 4.5” blade like the OG Makora
I just got one brand new all black carbon fiber and its going back to get fixed at this point. Fails on retractions over and over, super hard to open and close, I am the only person in the family that can even open or close it the button is so stiff and lastly the wonderful
Eh. It is what it is. 🤷 Thanks for the video brother
Just the tip
The "new" ultra... I mean makora.
Yes yes I should. But blade laws dictate otherwise.
7:14 a Microtech misfiring ? Shocker. My Ultratech does it on the regular, both deploying and retracting. Interesting that this knife did it during your overview. So it had a failure in what ? 1 in 15 ? For 4 bills, I'd rather take that money, skip lunch for a day and get a Benchmade Autocrat.
Mine used to misfire pretty regularly but I just filled it up with REM Oil and fired it a few times and then set it upside down to drain and I’ve never had another misfire.
If you keep it maintained properly they are very reliable
Would I? Nah too small. Holding out for a Combat Troodon.
The Makoras on BHQ with the inlays are going TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS. WTF. Not even close to $400.
They are "customs" apparently handmade. Also I guess Stingray skin inlays are expensive? I agree seems pretty crazy expensive though.
@@xSayPleasex "Stingray skin inlay" is that what that is?! Fuck me.
Ya Sai... you're not looking at the base models
@@metal_complex I mean, neither is the one you held lol. All the "base" models are out of stock.
@@spdcrzy ok... but the point is that we're not talking about a custom.
it's not a professional review until we see you open it under water... just saying
No prob. Buy one and send it to me with your approval and I'll gladly do it 😉
@@metal_complex I thought the note said you could use it? Don't they know you routinely hunt aquatic ninjas???
🤙👊💪🇺🇲
To me it would be a toy.
I really dislike the look otf knives
I gotta agree with you. They tend to look sorta "butter-knifey". I prefer the look of highly angular folders with tactical looking blade shapes (for example) over the OTF style for sure.
