      Looks like I need to start looking into a shad tank now.
      It would be nice to be able to use the live well on my boat. I can recirculating lake water through it, but it's rectangular with rounded corners.
      It's big, but I know everyone wants round tanks for shad.

    What a great trip you guys had, the last couple of trips at my secret little lake has been tough fishing, fishing for hybrids, I have only been using my thumper, do you think your splashed really works in that deep water, I have one, but not using it, maybe that’s my problem, it’s really been hard to even see them on my Humminbird. I have fished Texoma, great fishing.

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  Год назад

      @Michael Teague most likely if your not seeing them in graph they’ve disappeared. Not sure why this happens, but at given times of the year it’s like they are impossible to find. Normally it’s a pattern at that time of the year every year.

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  Год назад

      But to answer the question on the splasher, I think you should always use it no matter the depth. However the thumper is far more important in the winter in deeper water. On this trip, the thumper was turning off and fish would disappear during that time. Turn it on and they would reappear.

    Love watching your videos!! What size of jig heads and fluke do you use?

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  Год назад +1

      Thanks I appreciate it. So we typically use 4/0 hooks and 1-1.5oz heads. I wish somebody could make me a 2oz and 2.5oz head with a 4/0 hook. Problem now is that I can only find 2oz in 5/0 hooks and those are a little bit big when you are in smaller groups of fish, they miss the bait more than the 4/0 hooks. 1 and 1.5oz is just fine except on those windy days where your drifting .7-.8mph

      Texoma has striped bass and white bass but no hybrid bass. Some striped bass have broken lines and look like hybrid bass from the stripes. The lines can full a person. I’ve caught hybrid bass with nearly no line breaks as well.

    any tips on how to find them? or is it just by chance that you roll over a school?

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  8 месяцев назад

      Sometimes it’s an early morning bite or late evening. Sometimes it’s all day bite. In winter, generally they are in the deepest part of that area of the lake. One you find them, sometimes small schools drift and let the thumper keep them with you during drift. Most of the time I find them with sonar, and some of the time it’s with sidescan. If they are hugging the bottom, with my sidescan, it’s hard to see them, but if they are suspended pretty much most sidescans will see them easily.

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  6 месяцев назад +1

      It can be a really rough lake, but you might pick your spot where there is less wind if it’s a really windy day. There are plenty of bass boats that fish the lake.

    Can you explain what you’re doing. Are you letting the lure get to the bottom and just trolling slowly?

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  8 месяцев назад

      Yes. Leaving it completely still. Where the name deastick comes from. You can catch them with no movement, but typically it’s .4-.7mph drift or moving with trolling motor.

    So all you did was find fish, then drop the jig head down to the bottom, reel up twice and let the boat drift? Do you hold the pole still or are you jigging it up and down? I live on texoma and I’m just trying to catch something

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  Год назад

      That’s literally all you do. Deadstick fishing is best fishing time of year. It’s only from around Nov-Feb. water temp needs to be below 55

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  Год назад

      You don’t want to move it. Leave it as still as possible. If it’s really windy compensate for the boat movement trying to keep it still.
