  • Course descriptions are NOT the same as a transcript, but you may find that they are needed in certain situations. Let's talk about the 3 big questions regarding course descriptions: What are they? When are they needed? And how in the world do I write them? I'll even share examples of some of ours!
As mentioned in the video, homeschoolers who desire to play NCAA sports will need to meet certain requirements (including providing course description pages). Check out my video all about the requirements for homeschoolers looking to play NCAA college sports:

Perfect timing!!! Thank you so much for this video. I have a Sophomore and Freshman and need to make course descriptions for them. We live in a state that has very little that we need to report but always worry about missing something and not being prepared. Going to add getting descriptions done to my October goals. 👍🏻

    I so appreciate your videos!!
Regarding format. Do you create these in word and have 1 per page? Or perhaps do you create a word document per year which contains all course descriptions for all classes that year?
Also...what is your thought about counting English course done in 8th grade for HS? If you knew it was advanced enough to qualify would you count or would you not even consider doing that? Thank you!!

I absolutely would count anything that I considered HS level on their transcript even if it was done in middle school.
The free excel grade book I use has places for me to enter course descriptions. I put them all in there. It makes it easy to copy and paste them later into the NCAA homeschool packet I have to fill out for my teen who wants to play at the collegiate level. I have a video from a few years ago where I shared about the grade book I use.
