You did the right thing, honestly. If a girl makes distance, you double it. Don't give them the validation of you chasing after them, it feeds their ego and turns you into a bitch.

Bill's withdrawal analogy is great. I got ghosted (year relationship), and the level of cowardice it requires has got to be pathological. They're like these people who just walk right off the job and go to these heroic lengths just to avoid janswering the phone, instead of saying "I quit, please stop calling here" and hang up. You don't even have to break it off by phone call, email and msging has been out forever. You write a little brief blurb, not more than 3 sentences, something to the effect of, "There's someone else, have a nice life." or "Not working out for me, don't wait up." or even "You suck, I never loved you." They get an explanation, closure, and you're not unplugging your phone and avoiding people at malls like some kind of agoraphobic 3 year old chickenshit. Adults don't communicate with "hints". Say what you do and don't want like a fucking grown up so it's completely unambiguous. They keep ringing you after you do that, THEN you block them. You did your duty, and it was probably less effort than making a panini. Fucking simple and chances are they'll respect you for it. I would have. Would have thought positive things about this person if they'd just broke it off with me with a simple little email. Would have been easier on both of us. Instead, when I think of that girl now, all I remember is what a selfish, pathetic rube she must have been. Took years to feel it but glad I dodged that bullet. Got a son and a daughter, and when they come of age they'll both know the best thing you can do when someone pulls back like that is to write them off, and if they try to come back and reestabilism contact, you ignore them.
