I would LOVE to see some piraka bionicles! I have soooo much nostalgia for that series! I was obsessed with bionicles when i was a kid around 2005-2009, basically starting a year after those ones for 5 years xD
@@NoTheRobot You could probably get the models from the game. Though if you want movie rigs for it, if you cant find any i could put something together for you. Since they dont need anything bendy it wouldnt be too hard to set up and they could all share the same rig.
Absolutely loving these videos. As a Bionicle nerd and animator going to school for animation, I can say your channel is inspiring to say the least. The Art Book is a huge feat in the Bionicle community too. I hope you and everyone involved realize how huge this really is. THANK YOU!! PS Are the Mata and Metru model/rigs available to download? I'm just itching to get my hands on them.
This breakdown is incredible! Getting this deep an insight into how you tackled each character is an absolute treat! Having you onboard to animate the Hero shot for my Artbook Trailer was a dream come true, we've worked on many shorts before but tackling a shot this big was a challenge and there was no one else I'd rather have to do it! :) You knocked it out of the park, when I finished lighting and compositing the shot I just watched it on repeat for days 😅 Looking forward to what we tackle next 💪💪
The pleasure was mine! Thank you again for making my animations look absolutely incredible, it's always fun to see how they turn out. Excited to keep this train a rollin'!😄💪🤘
Amazing Video!! animation clipping always finds a way to show itself, even if you have triple checked the animation frame by frame. Btw was the lighting done in blender or was the animation exported to another software?
It was done in Blender :) I blocked out the shot with all the assets (characters, blockout geo) and sent it to No The Robot, once he beautifully animated all the characters, he sent me back the blend. file and I updated the Geo then worked on the lighting/volumetrics. I then rendered it (took about 20 hours!) and comped the shot in After Effects. Always a good idea to create render passes of all the characters/subjects and then extra passes like Volume direct, AO and Bloom so you can have finer control of the image in post! :) hope this helps!!
@@quantumstudios2516 A mixture of faking them and rendering them in cycles :) The godrays for example is actually a cylinder in Blender with a noise shader and an emission node animating. I also rendered these without a lot of volumes inside of blender (apart from one I think?) then in after effects, I used a series of solid colour layers and masks that I set as 3D objects. Big tip is there's an addon you can get for Blender that'll export out scene data to a script file you can run in After Effects - this way you can get the exact camera movement and positions of objects/characters in AE, then move your solid layers in AE to be at the correct position and your "mist" will now track correctly. For the intro shot of the trailer I did the volumes in Evee, then simply exported a render pass of volume direct - but for most other shots the volumes were done fully in cycles and then complimented in post with 2d layers.
Lego is definitely sleeping on you (and potentially many others) on this sort of Bionicle revival. At the very least, I hope they aren't such a stickler on the copyrights and fanmade stuff, so that stuff like this can be created more! Overall, great breakdown btw!
Thanks so much! From my understanding as long as you’re not selling anything for profit they’re cool with fan projects, ie the Masks of Power game being created by volunteers for a non-profit game
Hey!!! I have a question...Do you use MacOS for all your professional work or just this video? I am an animtion student!!! First time watching your video!!! Imma sub ;)
At 4:02 you say you arrange heads into triangles. Do you realise you can join any three points and they make a triangle (as long as they aren't colinear)?
I know what you mean, I meant that rather than just line all the heads up in a straight line it makes it more dynamic when you intentionally arrange the characters’ heads in screen space.
I am very curious as to how you optimized your pen tablet for blender; I ALWAYS struggle getting mine set up for it, so I always end up using mouse/keyboard)
I'm using the Wacom Remote (positioned right below the keyboard on my laptop) and that has helped a lot. I mapped the Ctrl, Alt and Shift Keys in the center, and the outside keys for things I do a lot like Set Keyframe, Frame Selected, Camera View, Toggle Display, etc. And of course Undo/Redo and Save! Highly recommend that accessory but def not necessary.

It's beyond heartwarming to see Bionicle live on with such passion. Even with all the little mistakes, keep it up because the big picture is gorgeous
O so you are dude behind this awesome Bioniocle anims, Lego should hier you to develop a full series
I am one of the dudes, yes! That would be a dream come true
This is the only channel I've watched that actually gives me helpful animation advice, Thank you No🙏
Thanks so much! I'm glad you got something out of this video haha

I love this channel I have genuinely learnt so much about animation and the process in general thank you man 😊
That's so cool to hear haha thanks!

you should reanimate some parts if mnog in this style
That would be epic
Dude I saw your stuff on instagram. Keep it up and love the videos 🫡
Thanks for making your way over to RUclips as well! 🙏
Gettin brands in! Congrats g
Ayy thanks bro!
This is an amazing video! I really like the dinal animation as well!
Some very relatable feels in here. Glad to know it's not just me!
I think “no one will see this but I’m proud of it” is something I say all the time when making these lol
@@NoTheRobot That too but I meant more the missing simple mistakes and so on 😄
lol fair enough 😅
I really enjoy seeing the behind the scenes progress stuff. Especially for Bionicles, heck yeah!
So glad to hear!✌️
This was so ENTERTAINING🔥💯
I hope you make your own 3D animation course
You're a great teacher and it'd be nice to learn more animation from you
Maybe one day!😁
Great insight. Appreciate the walkthrough and explanation
Glad it was helpful!
YEEEAAAHHHH BIONICLE‼️
😁🔥🙏

amazing and fascinating
