I honestly feel like this movie is a perfect example of “not everyone is gonna like it, but it doesn’t mean it’s bad”. I personally loved it, and, from my understanding, most other Mansion fans enjoyed it as well.

I saw it opening day at night, the best time to see it, and literally, my bf and I were geeking out the entire time. He and I are huge mansion fans, and seeing the movie made ,at least, super happy that they stayed faithful to the ride unlike the 2003 movie.

By opening day at night you mean opening night? 😛 don't know if that's even a thing

    I love it too 💜
Sad that Disney choose the worst time to release it, they should wait to September/October...

Honestly it was a semi smart move releasing it when they did. Most big budget and b horror films aim for September and October release dates most likely Haunted Mansion would have gotten lost in the sauce of that. + I like to think of it as a herald of the spooky season a starter of the mood for the season

I loved it!! Lakeith was great and funny. DeVito was hilarious and cute chaos. I found the story quite interesting. Really enjoyed Owen W. and Tiffany H. I think the background banter was funny and I like the sweeter side of the movie too. Here for it! Definitely will be a part of our Halloween movie lineup.

As a haunted mansion 2003 fan, I did enjoy the more horror than comedy. I sometime wish they could've done that with the 2003 version with more focus on Elizabeth and Master gracey.

I saw it twice. It had a better story than the Eddie Murphy movie. More true features to the ride as well. They should have waited until October IMO ,Would have been something new and great for Halloween instead of the same old- same old every year.

I saw the movie with my aunts and my younger siblings a few days ago. I LOVE the Haunted Mansion despite not yet having ridden it (I was too young the last and only time I was in Disney). As I got older, I developed a love for the supernatural, and eventually the Haunted Mansion fell under that category.
I loved the movie, and I was doing a little excited ADHD stimming in my seat everytime something related to the ride popped up, like when they used the bride's name for a newspaper article about her or the inclusion of Ms. April's portrait in the mansion's foyer by the staircase.
Aside from that, the plot and the theme surrounding grief and loss was a good one, plus the actors were PHENOMENAL. I do recommend seeing it if you're a fan of the Haunted Mansion.

I just watched this movie last night. I. LOVE. IT. The plot was very good and kept me engaged, I was happy that a lot of the ghosts from the ride got screentime, and the whole time I was pointing out references and details of the ride to my dad (I paused often) and it was soooooooo awesome! Changing portraits, ghosts, little minute details and the ending was fantastic! I did mistake the fortune teller for madam leota but when the ACTUAL leota appeared, she KILLED it! Constance is my fave ghost thanks to you Anne, and while she was a cool side character, I kinda wish they kept her design the same as her ride design so that it fit with her stretching portrait. I loved the villain, so cool and OMG THE LOCATIONS! It's still a bit too early for spoilers so I won’t say anything but I LOVED the places around the mansion and beyond it

I loved it. If you overthink this film then you should know going in, it's a family film. Not a horror-a-thon. It's as fun as the HM ride itself with a little more detail and some fun characters. Thanks for your video!

    I REALLY loved this movie.
Of course to get it out of the way, this definitely beats the Eddie Murphy version.
I was very intrigued with the plot and I think this was the Haunted Mansion movie we need. The cast was absolutely spot on and the chemistry was enjoyable. I was mostly invested in the easter eggs and connections to the attraction and oh Lord it was a gold mine.

    I love this movie
I had a blast from start to finish and I seriously want to go and see it again
I had read that the jokes weren't funny, but for me the majority landed just right. The easter eggs are plentiful. The soundtrack is so good.
Maybe I can see why some will not like it. But I definitely don't think it deserves the low score it has on rottent tomatoes. It has such and profound and satisfying emotional core to ground it and its presented in a respectful way. For a kids movie, tackling a heavy theme like grief is a big challenge. This movie did it in a way that wasn't condescending nor cheap, but classy and impactful. Which brings me to the actors.
All of them were amazing, but I was impressed and happy with Lakeith's performance. That guy presented a believable complex character, that felt strong and capable yet fragile and vulnerable. If I'm honest, you don't see that kind of nuanced portrayal that often, let alone in a kids movie, let alone in a Disney movie (sorry not sorry).
Lakeith's character is everything Eddie Murphy's should have been to ground the 2003 movie, snd it would have elevated it much more. But Eddie was too busy goofing it up. Just my opinion. Don't mean any hate, I still appreciate the 2003 movie for what it is. But these are my heartfelt honest opinions.

The fact that you say it’s a movie for HM fans is a little surprising to me personally. I told my best friend that I had seen the movie after I, well, saw the movie, and as it turned out, not only had she already seen it, she has actually never even been on the ride and told me she had a great time with the movie regardless. She might have even enjoyed it more than I did, and I _am_ an HM lover. I do think the plot structure actually gets more brilliant the more you think about the ride’s history (like how the main villain, as my bestie put it once I explained the villain’s ride history to her, “has literally been haunting this franchise for ages”), and I’m impressed at how many plot points, major or minor, came from my man Ghost Host’s dialogue (iykyk).
Overall I more thought it was a great modern ghost story than anything else. I had purposely avoided spoilers so I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high and I think that was the right call. I think I’d wanna see it again to try to experience it as casual viewer, honestly. My real main concern is that I really hope my older brother, who’s been a Mansion fan for far longer than I, enjoys it. I know he’ll like all the nods and easter eggs, I just hope that’s not all he likes about it.

Now I want them to make an It's A Small World movie. Or an Enchanted Tiki Room movie.

I thought the movie was amazing, and so did the group of 50+ people I went and saw it with! I'm crushed they put it up against Barbie and Oppenheimer, because it sounds like they've already discarded plans to add to the universe, even though it was a really solid movie.

I didn’t get to see it in theaters but I recently watched it on Disney plus. It did feel a little half baked to me, and the scenes where you can tell the actors are doing improvised bits were a bit grating. I do think there could have been improvements, but I don’t think it's the worse thing out there. I would probably rewatch the Eddie Murphy version first than this one though
