Bryan - the suspense is killing us. Come On already - So happy for you mate . Cannot wait to hear your full warts and all first ride of your own steed. Appreciate you will keep some things a little tame so that Stark treat your feedback as constructive. ( As you should) but we know as Customer #1 you will be being watched by many 000's of interested Bike enthusiasts.
If I had any reservations about buying one before, I think this video cured me of that. Obviously, I want to see the feedback of actually riding it, but the versatility looks amazing. As a retired off-road racer who just rides for fun now, this looks like just a ticket given the lack of maintenance. And hey, I already am an Emtb convert. What’s another electric two wheel vehicle in the garage!? Quick question, does the fan always run if the bike is on? Figured that would be a thermostat operated thing but doesn’t appear to be from your video.
Oh man.. I just another day browsing one to the another and finally here.. its on my own, so not blaming you or anyone. I just (few hours back) read about Royal Enfield working with Stark Future in developing their own E-moto, and that lead me to watch their official videos and then all your experience from the Barcelona visit till this one. Congrats on your bike Haskell, looking forward for your first impression on your own super powerful bike. Cheers! \m/
Congrats on the new bike...I love to hear real world reviews! I am curious if you have ever done any hard/fast woods rides or races with the Alta?...I'd be curious to know what the expected range would be under those conditions. Kepp the vids coming! \
A thought on the dash. It would be great if the dash left minimum corner speeds up. Great for training. It’s used in car racing all the time but never been available to moto before
It would be nice if you could program max horsepower for the start and then have it revert to another pre-programmed setup after say 10 seconds. I' getting excited for my Oct. delivery.
Awesome videos. I have a question. Why would you not want to fully charge the bike before parking it up for a while. Congrats on being no.1 owner. Your doing that position great justice.
Lithium batteries don't like being too full or too empty, especially for longer periods of time. That applies to phone batteries as well, or any other battery for that matter btw
Hallo, Im from germany. The Video is very interesting and good. You show the charging Menü from the App. Is only the current charging displayed there or can a maximum charging current be set? Can be charged wich a Honda 2.0 emergency generator? Thank you for an answer.
If the bike is charging in the garage, can you take the display module (phone) into the house with you and its still connected so you can watch it charge.
Such a good looking bike. Hey, couple questions: 1: will the bike start without the phone mounted? Because, 2: I’m thinking this might make a sick supermoto. What are your thoughts about potential street performance? (Top speed, acceleration, etc). I currently have a zero fxs which i love but it just isn’t quite fast enough for me and not capable enough on dirt when desired. Stark would have almost double the hp, way more torque, lighter, and similar battery capacity (6.5 v 7.2 ah). Your videos have me on the edge of ordering this bike
I don't get the fan being on while not riding. Cold day, slow riding, would it even be required? I can see people making a thermistor hack if this can't be changed via software. Bryan, would be great if you could point an infrared thermometer at the battery, radiator and engine case after a ride.
I can't wait for new videos about max range, speed and stuff. I personally don't know what to think about the phone. I think a normal speedometer with an app for your own phone would be better. Android phones often get really slow and die after some time. Maybe not this one I hope. Also why is the fan on all the time when the bike is not plugged in? I mean it wasn't hot or something. When charging or hot I would understand.
cant wait for you to meet up with PRO rider on track see what they think=interviews please... hope stark varg is paying you to HOST this first Stark varg release..
Awesome videos Bryan. I've watched them all. My Alpha won't arrive until Dec so I'm living vicariously through your vids until then so keep em coming! Question: I know you need to charge the bike on the stand and presumably the charger is part of the stand however is there any way to take the charger with you, say in a backpack? I live in AZ and we often take longer rides through the desert and stop somewhere for lunch so I'm wondering if I'd be able to plug in somewhere and juice up a bit? I reached out to Stark Support and they didn't give me a clear answer. Thoughts?
You could probably remove the charger from its case but it weighs something like 35 lbs with the heatsink and fan and might be uncomfortable to wear on your back when riding imo. Impossible? No. Practical? Also no
@@bwhaskell Thanks Bryan, that's what I was afraid of. Sure would be nice to have a portable charging solution though. I suppose I'll need to manage my trips according to battery life. Be safe on that thing...sure looks like it rips!
Really excited! How are you expecting the OTA updates to work? I'm assuming through the phone app. Also, anything special about the phone or will we be able to BYOD?
Personally would not leave the phone on in races or trail riding. But I'd love to have a simple battery % meter, similar to the one Electric Motion has on their trials bikes.
Loving what I see so far Bryan.. but that noisy fan .. is it really that loud or is it just because you’re in your garage.. is it on a thermostat so only comes on when it’s hot ?
Would be sweet if they gave options for regen amount by speed, like almost no regen from 60-80mph and say 50% regen down at like 30mph; or hard stops on when the regen is on or off, its got a g meter so they should be able to tell if someone is coasting vs stopping and on the brakes.
Thanks for the detailed overview! Do they recommend removing the phone during cleaning? Did the instructions give you storage info for the battery? Mine shows up in Nov, so it will sadly sit a lot for the winter. This is assuming reviewers give it good single track and enduro reviews and I dont cancel my order. Range on the trails is my last reservation, everything else looks solid.
Also I noticed you installed hand guards…does this mean you are prepping for a trail ride and battery range review? I am surprised that Stark didnt release long form feature videos like this over the last 6 months and instead are letting you do the talking for them. Thats got to be a little unnerving to let customers be the first deep dive revealers of their brand new tech. I am sure they are thrilled with your promos so far.
Yes definitely remove the phone before cleaning. And just like any lithium ion battery pack, store long term at 60%, normal operation between 20%-85%, if you need the extra range charge to 100%.
Does the fan stays on all the time? I found it noisy when you were testing the bike at stark but was thinking that it was going off sometime. Also being on all the time, it probably use more battery.
10:25 Does the bike really have regenerative braking? I have only heard engine braking being talked about. So if the bike have regenerative braking, the engine brake will also help charge the battery? Is this true?
Does the phone have to stay in the bike as you ride? Like if you are doing a MX or SX race, I would imagine a rider would not want the phone there? This is hypothetical that people will use the bike for local races. What about a crash pad over the phone? Very cool video... looks like amazing technology. I look forward to your other videos, especially riding on tracks. Thanks. PS: Why did that loud fan turn on when the bike is not being ridden (not talking about when you started charging, but when the bike was just sitting their).
Well, since the phone acts as the display interface to the bike, if you don't have to phone attached, you won't have a display interface. Bike will still operate fine.@user-fz8fy4zl1c
It seems like mounting it to the bike would make it prone to damage in an accident. Does it have to be mounted for the bike to run? Can it be stored in a backpack?

Holy crap 80hp mode looks nuts😮
Is there some sort of protective cover for the charge port on the bike to prevent dirt/ mud from getting into the charge port when you are riding?
Yes there is a super nice billet aluminum cap that covers the charger port.
