Thanks for this post and all the fine work you do putting together these informative and entertaining keyboard videos. I recently purchased the Casio CT X-5000 after viewing your demos. It's truly an impressive, and yes, sometimes overwhelming instrument. Seasons Greetings from Canada!
Hello William , I m about to buy this keyboard for me too..by saying "sometimes overwhelming" you mean smthing like eg. overwhelmingly impressive? or e.g insufferable, unbearable etc? Has to do with the learning curve someone needs to overcome in order to use some of its functions?
Interesting review ,I think they are both great keyboards .I have a Korg Micro arranger and from what I've seen and read people found it hard to understand the functions etc,but I know it inside out so I'm guessing when i get my Casio Ct.x 5000 soon ,there will be a learning curve but once you know how it's easy .The micro arranger has great sounds too ,the only prob is the mini keys ,but great if you want a portable keyboard that sounds pro, same engine as the Korg Ek50 I believe .
Hello Jeremy, thank you for all the precious info shared here from your experience. I was wondering about the keybed problems of Yamaha. Did you have to deal with keys not working because of dust or bad wiring connection inside, or anything like that? Would be interesting if you could do a video on this theme. Reliability of these keyboard, because in the end, your keyboard has to work at all times and not stop as my Yamaha did on me. And I heard this is a very common issue with their products ... What's your experience on this subject? Thanks!
Hey Jeremy, I got some big problems with the MIDI-Seqenzer in the PSR-S670 over the CT-X5000. Maybe you can help? As you know, the CT-X has got al lot of MIDI-Edit functionalities. It's a bit hard to learn them, but after reading the manual you are able to overdub, copy paste single measures, eben edit single MIDI-Events. You got a Metronome-Precount which helps to start exactly. But in the PSR-S670 I am missing all those edit-tools. How do I overdub my Drumkit-Playing with the PSR-S670? How do I copy and paste a single measure of a song? I am trying to record some songs into the PSR-S670 and failing. I'm not able to get the first on done. :-( Could it really be, that the PSR-S670 hasn't got those edit capabilities? Can you left some lines to this please?
Great video. Simply to understand the bottlenecks of CASIO CTX and yes also same in CTK-7200 which I have. And I like to share a programme which I found from internet to convert available Yamaha styles into CTK compatible Rhythms. And hope that will work on CTX too. Please instruct, how to send it to you. It's a Excel programme uses macro script. You can test it and do a new video for CASIO users.
I am very satisfied as owner of psr s670. But i considering upgrade to 775. What do you think about main piano sounds? Could you please compare in your video? Thanks buddy
Myself owning one of the much older Casio CTK keyboards, I really don’t know how the new CTX keyboards work. However, hopefully that Casio will either one, update their software, because, I’ve heard that the CTX keyboards can be updated, Or two, come out with another model, or series of models of keyboards, that have a better user interface.
Hi Jeremy I am from Canada and want to buy ctx9000in but it is not available in Canada. Is there any way if I buy ctx 5000 and download ctx9000in software to get those tunes?? Please help I am desperate to buy Or send me link to get it in Canada
@@JeremySee you are very helpful. One doubt. How is the organ tones in CTX comparing with yamaha i500? Pipe organ voices are important to me. Pipe organ, church organ etc?
Any videos about comparing Korg EK-50 to the Yamaha PSR S670? I know they’re a totally different beasts but if I can’t find the EK-50 anywhere, nothing compares for my needs so I’d rather go up in models. Thanks.
Hi Jeremy. If CTX 5000 has nightmare user interface, I have to rethink to purchase it. I don't want to waste my money that hardly I earn for complicated thing. I would really love CTX 5000/3000 for it's ability to create style music production with 17 tacks (that I am interested more to learn), but so sorry why many CTX users complain? I would like upper level keyboards, but for my budget CTX 5000/3000 were in my mind. I watch many videos of operating any keyboards before I decide to purchase. I have to be careful and wise to choose keyboard that will comfort me.
The CT-X3000 and the Roland E X20, which would be better for band/gigging performances with a vocal? I figured the CT-X would be a good choice but is it really worth the extra amount? Also, the Roland's brand is tempting and I have high hopes for the sound.
@@JeremySee I see. That's a super reassuring answer. In Vietnam the CT-X goes for just 260 USD with all acessories, a stand and a bag. I'm a Vietnamese studying in Singapore, would love to hear if there are better deals in Singapore right now, any other keyboard suggestions?
About resale value. Probably it depend on country. In Russia you'll sell 7-year old Casio CTK-7000 for about $200 (half of brand new price), and 7-years Yamaha psr-s650 will be cost about 50% ($350) of brand new price. But Casio is cheaper and it easier to sell it without discount.
Very good comparison! It seems like the biggest difference in favor of the PSR-670 is the display -- which adapts to what you are doing! Please reiterate sound quality differences between the two, if you would.
Psr s 670 Is an amazing keyboard,CTX 5000 I play before around 20 minute don't like at all the way it's sounds just stop.but the psr series is really a goal the sounds the way it looks the cabinet bass boost, all the styles are crazy that's the good thing of Yamaha you custumice the keyboard how you want to sound .I own a Yamaha mm6 ,Alesis fusion and Medeli a 1000 but I still like the way this keyboard sound.waiting for s675.
I've had the CTK 7200 for about 18 months. You can buy this in New Zealand for about $600, compared to $1800+ for the PSRS670. The CTX5000 is about $800-$1000. Bang for buck, you can't beat Casio. I gig with the CTK 7200 but I'm looking to upgrade... to a PSRS 900 series or a 775, at minimum--not the CTX. For the kind of music I like to play, the Casios requires a lot of time-consuming programming. Creating/customizing new rhythms and recording via the 16 track inbuilt facility--is not easy. Plus, the basic piano/electric piano/organ tones--require customizing to bring them up to scratch. The Yamaha ones sound glorious--right out of the box.
In terms of the most important factors like groovy styles, acoustic sounds and user interface the Casio is really no match to the Yamaha. That's why the Casio is priced so low. I'm expecting the 2019 model psr-s675 to improve the outdated small low-res screen to become a really good all-rounder keyboard.
In short: CT-X5000 and PSR-S670 are no match since they're in a different class, both in sound and feature. The PSR-S670 _should_ be compared to the Casio MZ-X300 (not X500) as they have similar capabilities, while the CT-X5000 is more suitable to be compared to the Korg EK-50
