    Im not a mechanic but I do a lot of the work my cars and some other minor things on friends and families cars. I get most of my knowledge from a friend who owns a shop and from youtube. You sir, have contributed to this. Next week I will be doing this exact job on my brother's 1.2 grande punto and I knew this was doable and im going to make it but you make this look easy. Thank you. Last week I ribuilt his entire suspension, front frame, valver cover gasket. I really love wrenching hehe

      @Artyom I have a question on these transmissions

    • @olli3j
      @olli3j 4 года назад

      @Artyom so I moved the transmission lever where the cables attach to the gear shifter ... They are not connected and now I'm not sure what gear the transmission is in 🙁
      I'm worried that maybe when I do connect them that the transmission will be in 3rd and the gear selector in 1st...

      Sorry as I'm probably confusing asf but that's the lever on the transmission I'm talking about that the shifter cable would attach to I moved that lever on the trans and now I'm curious as to what gear the transmission is in ibb.co/3BYTS41

      Does it matter if it's pulled out and straight
      Regardless I really appreciate you man.
      One last thing does ur book mention anything about allignment of the clutch?

    Is it easy to change the engine an gearbox mounts while gearbox is on?

    • @qwertyuiop2895
      @qwertyuiop2895 2 года назад +2

      Top ones are very easy, just support the engine or gearbox (depends which side you are doing) with jack.
      Central/bottom one (differential mount, "dogbone") is a bit harder, but still doable at home, you just need to use more force, and more tools (restricted access to 1 or 2 bolts - because exhaust pipe - "E" type socket will not fit, you need "E" spanner).

    • @GrandePunto8V
      @GrandePunto8V Год назад

      @@qwertyuiop2895 In emergency you can do hack job using regular hex tools. For example 14 mm hex (and/or 12 points) will do the "E" series bolts here ("dogbone" mount), but this is sketchy and "method" may fail.

      Thank you! I checked the oil level tonight. And the level is just a little bit below the fill plug hole. I am beginning to think that I might have overfilled the gearbox. And the excess oil might have escaped through some "excess/overflow valve"?

    • @Joe-bj7nz
      @Joe-bj7nz 5 лет назад

      @Kevin-Albert Williams . I found a leak from the driverside, leftside overhere, is it called transaxle seal? From were the driveshaft goes into the gearbox. The tie-rod end also seem a bit wiggly. Im wondering about if I should also buy a complete driveshaft with tie rod ends, or if replacing the seal could fix the whole problem. Not easy to answer, I know 😅 Best regards, Joe

      @@WMCS Thanks for your answer. I'm asking this because i'm planning to do this replacement, because i have a slight vibration from the engine when idling. Otherwise the engine is running fine. And when i'm pulling away, the car judders violently. I have to play with the clutch, or release it very slowly, or give more throttle if i don't want the car to stall. This is only in 1. gear, other gears are fine, when the car is moving, i have no problems with clutch. The clutch has been changed 2 years ago because this judder issue, i thouhght that the clutch was dying since it was still the original. But the replacement was probably a cheap shit from China. After the change it was ok for a year maybe. Now i have this juddering again, and slight vibration when idling. That is why i'm asking, cannot be that the flywheel is not perfectly aligned, that is why it vibrates, and that's why the whole engine judders when the clutch is starting to bite. I bought a more expensive clutch set, but i don't want to put it in until i find out what is wrong.... Thoughts?

      @WMCS  4 года назад

      Ok I’m with you now.., one of two things.
      The clutch kit was of poor quality.
      1.The pressure plate is not squeezing the clutch against the flywheel., faulty pressure plate.
      2. Worst case is the flywheel May be warped.,
      Once you take the clutch out use a DTI Gauge to check run out on flywheel.

But i was thinking, even if the clutch is bad, the engine should not have any vibration when idling, the clutch is not touching the flywhell in neutral... That is why i suspecting a warped flywheel. But i have no idea why and how the flywheel can be warped??? BTW i checked all 3 engine mountings, especially the bottom one which is holding the transmission, but they are absolutely fine. Strange. Maybe one of crankshaft bearings is dying? In that case the whole crankshaft would have a little play, causing the vibration of the flywheel... If the thrust bearing locator is slightly out or not sitting true. It will give you a judder. But on hear change only. If it’s constant. Then you’re looking more in the line of pressure plate.

      If you did not disconnect the slave cylinder and the piston for it did not pop out and you lose any fluid you won’t have to bleed it out.
