Great short, Bino! I've seen this with a second Blake's on the working end, but not like this with a Bowline style slip knot. Very Cool! I will have to try this. Thanks for sharing!
Bino, I teach recreational tree climbing and this is a much simpler way to get a new climber up into the canopy than adding a pulley or tying a second blake’s hitch on the down line. Thanks very much!
Protip.. dont get stoned before watching this... i smoked a joint an hr ago & i watched this about 10 times trying to do this with my rope & im still confused as heck😂 im gona get some food & watch bingwatch all John Wick movies im too stoned to learn me anything with a knot rN.
I tried practicing some climbing techniques in my backyard after smoking once, it took me 30 minutes to get up to the first union, and by the time I got down from that same first union, it was dark outside.
Good to see fellow stoner tree climbers having the same problems 😂 I can confirm these stories are so relatable as I take down trees at my work and get high also 👌
So many climbers NEED all of the extra equipment to complete the job. This is great to know and I love having the knowledge to do the work with or without all of the extra gear. Great video
Yea but the tension on the Blake will make it very hard to release to descend , I tie a Blake second Blake where you tie the tending knot that way I can release the tension on the holding Blake then descend easily
Bino, that is incredible, thanks for sharing! That system could really be improved using a few mechanical components! Looking forward to building on it
Any improvements or ideas you came up with in the last year?😅 Would be awesome to hear. I do a lot of rock climbing and I have grown to like this method shown
The problem with this technique is that it is too useful and can be made from the end of your line. That won't sell unnecessary equipment! Careful Bino. I hear Petzl has a contract out on your head. lol
Lamentablemente está muy mal filmado. No sé puede ver nada, me gustaría verlo nuevamente pero filmado desde otra posición y sin que el ejecutante no lo tape tanto con las manos. Gracias
I tree care we call the Taught Line Hitch a Monkey Fist but it's not the actual Monkey Fist. The Monkey fist is shaped like a ball and was used as a throwing weight.
Elegant! As a tree cutting hobbiest, I've been using a prusik. This is a back-up tie-in only, but the prusik always tightens up & I waste energy getting it loosened so it will slide.
It’s good to know there’s still a profession/trade that teaches this
Thanks
Very cool technique with no hardware. Thanks Bino
You're welcome! Take care!

Where is the slip knot?
@@jakemccoy, There isn’t a slip into. It’s a bowline.
@@terjeoseberg990 I know, but the original poster said there is a slip knot. The video creator did not correct him.

That's awesome you can also have your groundman pull the rope for you
I've never seen such a short video with that many cuts.

It is confusing because there are two separate ropes. Different colors for the ropes would have cleared things up.

Yea but the tension on the Blake will make it very hard to release to descend , I tie a Blake second Blake where you tie the tending knot that way I can release the tension on the holding Blake then descend easily
For me normally I only use it to ascend and when I reach the top I untie the self tending part. I doesn't bind on me.
This is how I do it as well. Works great

there is no better way showing something them by covering it with your hands 😢
Indeed. And hold a glove in one hand to help hide the action. Then make many short cuts in the video to make it choppy.
@@johndowd6436 we are not nice - at least he did somthing ;-)
Just do a closed system with a bowline and a Blake's or do an o rig system
This is a cool trick for tending to a Blake’s hitch, love it. I bet a jet step foot ascender would blend well with this setup😊
That would be cool!
I used to use that knot trimming for the power company years ago.
It's a great help especially on a high ascent.
The problem with this technique is that it is too useful and can be made from the end of your line. That won't sell unnecessary equipment!
Careful Bino. I hear Petzl has a contract out on your head. lol
Mechanicals are a bit more easy to use but it still good to keep in touch with the basics.
Very good
Thanks
I will. Have to try it

super simple and great explanation brother!
Glad you think so!
Can this be used on a closed system or just with an open split tail system?
Check this out.

no knot on the branch just the Blakes and in line bowline

Are t you supposed to go behind the rope before you pass it through the two loops?
Check this video out ruclips.net/video/JBbi_2-Ptys/видео.htmlsi=AZlYANLhb_LX_ngZ
It works good but can't be tied with one hand
I've never tried
When u come back down do you loosen the loop . Or how would u get down
I undo the self tending part put a figure 8 then pull down on the Blake's and descend.
Apa tidak terluka tali yang bergeser diatas
No it does not damage the other rope.
Can't see much. Ok for people that know what your talking about.
True this is a short kind of hard to fit in. Here is a longer version. ruclips.net/video/ckLnWjJ9Zsw/видео.html
hope it helps.
Use the pause button, that helps
That's for ascending. What about descending?
It's for both ascending and descending. In tree care we will work an entire tree with it.
@@BinoH I would like to see the descending process of the action.
Can you come down on that? Or do you take the bowline off then come down?
I go back to a figure of eight stopper. I think because I'm heavy it binds up when I come down.
Nice!
Thank you!
We called it a monkeys fist for repelling hotshot Wildland firefighter

@@BinoH i live on a sailboat so yup a monkeys fist is both thank you for posting!!!
Awesome. Should there be a stopping knot at the end?
not when it's connected to the up line but once you get to the top you should un-tie that part and then put a stopper.
@@BinoH thanks for the response.

How long is the split tail?
If it has an eye about 5 feet and if your tying the knots maybe 7 feet
Are there three ends of the rope?
4 ends the split tail has 2 and the climbing line has 2.
Muito massa!

I never thought to use a Sheets Bend to act as the tending knot! Very creative!!!

It doesnt work very well tbh
@@Vscustomprinting On the wrong rope, tied the wrong way, oriented incorrectly; anything can seem useless.
Bino, I take if the bowline unties or gets cut still safe with Blake's?...
Yes if it's untied but you still would want to add a figure eight. Not if it's cut it's connected to your mrs line.
Lol, can't believe I've never seen this. 😅
Are you going to try it?
My personal favorite
Glad to hear it!
bagus sekali i love bino channel😃

That's a great method. But it's slow just get a mechanical knot and a spliced eye
Can't argue that mechanicals and foot ascenders are a lot faster but there are lots of climbers that aren't at that point. Take care!
I gravitate towards simplicity.
I know a few things, and know them well. This looks like a next step to learn & add to my repertoire.
