    Brian has some nice product and is doing a bang up job. I enjoy watching his videos and he does not go into historic story mode like Coinguy if you want to get right down to business. From what I have seen his prices are really competitive versus the big corporate owned bullion dealers. I wish I lived closer to his shop.

    Numismatic pieces are a very good investment, but it is a long-term investment. I know of many coins and currency notes that from ten years ago have doubled in market value. That's why you see big purchase rarities in numismatics. Collectors buy a half a million dollar coin and sell it several years later for a quarter million more.

    I'm in that crossover market. I collect mostly bullion, but I like them just as much for their beauty, history, craftsmanship, age, rarity, etc., as I like them for preservation of wealth through the value of the metal commodity. I probably would't buy anything where the markup is more than 200% over the spot price for the commodity, but admittedly, that's a pretty large markup for a bullion piece.

    I've got my stack. Now, I'm full-on numismatic.
    I will, at times, buy platinum coins/bars as I see advances in solid-state hydrogen technology which will be applicable to cars, trucks, buses, planes and homes. Fuel-cell technology may well challenge lithium battery technology in many applications. Platinum is really cheap IMHO.
    If I were to add to my stack, it would be silver bullion in preference to gold.

    Love my LCS. I do like US junk silver. Fractional, widely recognized. Premiums are higher but right now even 1oz round is like 20%+ and no limit to how many they can mint. 40% premium on constitutional silver that will never be minted again.
    We don't have any stupid tax in my state, but I think there is hold period for dealers making purchases of bullion which doesn't apply to coins.

    Always enjoy your talks with Brian, so helpful and educational, and had I lived in the area, I would most certainly be a regular! I live in Norway, and bullion is hard to come by here, and laws are very different from Florida or the US, for example we have no VAT on coins (with a face value), but a 25% on bars and rounds, so most people here buy coins. Secondly, we have "constitutional silver", even though they stopped making Norwegian silver coins in 1919, but all of them have a higher numismatic value than the silver value, so no point in buying those if you're a stacker. There's some "memorial coins" that have been made in the 70's, 80's and 90's that have 90% silver and "older" stackers often started out with those + Morgan/Peace dollars here in Norway. I do have a local coin shop in my small town of 55.000 people, and I do my best to support it, but very often they don't have bullion coins, so it's a bit of a hit and miss, and I have to drive to Oslo (1 hour away) to do my shopping. Anyhow, just wanted to give you a shout out from Norway and thank you SpegTacular for your videos! Cheers, PA :D

    This helped me understand why I avoid graded coins. I have a much higher interest in stacking bullion but I also complete album sets, currently have mercury and short set of walkers filled with other partials, and find a lot of value and excitement in completing the albums and collecting the coins. But I dont really have an interest in graded or numismatic things as much. Even though it would be fun to find that $100k error penny, some of those errors i can't even see. I have the 42/1 mercury overdate but that thing you can see plain as day. Start talking close AM 93 pennies they all look the same to me.

    I enjoyed the video. I will respectfully disagree though that cull/circulated Morgan and Peace dollars will always be a better “investment” with better ROI than high graded Morgan and Peace dollars. That’s just not the case. There is plenty of data out there to back that up. However he may have been referring to the graded eagles and newer stuff. Either way I appreciate the content💪🏻👍🏻

    • @Spegtacular

    • @silversupplement
      @silversupplement 2 года назад

      @@Spegtacular Sure, just to keep it simple and give one example. Also to use what most people have access to like APMEX, JM bullion etc…. Just a short time ago, about a few years, one could purchase common ms64 (PCGS/NGC) Morgan dollars 1878-1904 for $54.99 random years (from many places) now they sell the same for $99.99 random years. The Cull/circulated Morgan dollars would cost in the low 20’s or around 21-22 (you may have been able to get a little cheaper if you have a good LCS) now they cost about $28-29 from online retailers. Again you can get cheaper from good LCS. I bought both. I personally stack and collect many different things. My culls are up about 40% and my graded coins are up about 80%.
      The same is for MS63 grades as well. They have almost doubled for the common years. I just used the MS63/64 grades for examples as they are the most commonly purchased for the average person. There are web sites too that show the prices from the grey sheets over the years on graded Morgan dollars going far back.
      Pretty much every LCS will have grey sheets. If you look at one a few years old and one today it will show what I am stating to be true. Same thing at my local coin shops. The more common 63/64 grades have about doubled in their cases.
      When I stated there is lots of data I was referring to grey sheets mostly as many people have access to those. Also there are websites that are free and anyone can get access. Again, I wasn’t trying to sound negative I was just disagreeing with the culls/circulated coins are “always” the better investment or have the best ROI. It’s just not factual.
      I’m not a troll or anything just a stacker and I enjoy your content. I understand stating there is lots of data and not explaining myself wasn’t the best way to leave a comment. Hopefully what I stated above was enough to explain my point of view.

    For me ASE has too many minted to be collectible, unless it’s a different finish with extremely low mintage…unfortunately I think ASE are not stackable either because of premium…However I just paid $37 for some 2022 Libertads as a speculation. I wanted the 2 OZer but $147😳could be used better.

    Never take collectable coins such as Morgan's to a coin dealer. You won't get the collectable price for it. for instance, that Morgan that's worth 995. The LCS I go to won't pay near that price. You will get maybe $60.00 for it. I bought a CC Morgan for 85.00 He offered me 50.00 nope. I hope you understand now.

    • @coinguy8107
      @coinguy8107 2 года назад +4

      Alexander understand LCS have to make something from the coin. Using your same CC for $85 for example. Say you sell it on ebay, so take off 10% off the top so now the coin is worth $76, then take off $3.85 for shipping. Now your at like $72. So the LCS makes $22 for the coin. Okay well say they sell it to someone in the store. Most LCS give 10% off due to the grade. Now speaking of grade the LCS might have graded the coin different than you. So that might be the reason as well for his offer. But in the end making $20 on a sale of a coin isn't much. LCS has to keep lights, rent, salary, etc etc. I hope you understand now.

    Our governor is creating a two tiered state- gives discounts on property tax to government workers, while the private sector that creates the economy the leeches feed from pay full price.
    Now Santos is wanting to have ex military teach school....
    So much for critical thinking- teaching children to blindly follow orders, get tattoos, and carry weapons for money is the last thing our state needs.
