What makes this scene so great is that nothing was actually planned, Godzilla actually just appeared on set to kill the Muto and the camera man just kept filming
Lmfao imagine. They were making a completely different movie and all of a sudden Godzilla just waltzes onto set and everyone just goes along with it
Dude, that's all just imagination. If it was for real, Godzilla would have wiped out this tiny awkward insect instantly. Just some kind of CGI. Nothing else. Greetings from the heart of Germany.

Dude that is fucking awesome 😂😂
Such a good scene
The reason the theater went silent, is because the king of the monsters demands silence perhaps
I was around 7 or 8 when my parents took me to what the movie, I loved every single scene of the movie, even the parents I didn’t understand, but the airport/ fire appearance of Godzilla scene will forever hold a special place in my heart because this movie introduced me to Godzilla for the first time, hell I have a dvd of it in my house, and I’m thinking of watching, for the 700th time

T rex scene from Jurassic park in a nutshell
Something I liked about this movie was how well it portrayed the massive size of the monsters and how puny and insignificant humans and their machines were when compared to them. That was something King Of the Monsters didn't do as well, even though there was more monster action in that movie.
And I'm guessing the kid that gets saved on the train is a "Kenny?"
This is some of the many reasons of why G14 is my favorite Monsterverse movie
Oh my god, dude. Three people have commented this exact point already. We get it. Kotm didn't handle scale as well.
@@sarahbelle81 He's only speaking the truth. It isn't that hard to just... ignore the comments, you know.
True, It never really felt like the momsters were huge.
holy fuck kenny that is so cool that they put him in the movie
idk if that was the intention but that is still cool
I know everyone complained that Godzilla was used so sparingly in this one but I personally felt that it worked in making the titular character feel impactful. Every time he appears, it's like an event and this introduction of him was one of the most epic intros for an iconic character I have ever seen. That roar? Mmmmmm, perfection.
0:00 man i miss shots like this in the Monsterverse. i really really want more scenes like this that actually try and have us be in the humans POV, plus it's really terrifying to see how big Godzilla is. Garreth Edwards sure may have dropped the ball in a few places but he definitely knows how to frame shots and show off the scale of the Kaiju/Titans
That echoing sound after the roar always gives me goosebumps, it has such a unique roar
I loved when the camera cut to the little boy sleeping on the couch. Riveting.
The scene with the red flares send chills each time
I've been a Godzilla superfan since I saw my first Godzilla movie as a kid. That movie was Godzilla vs. Megalon. So, I love Godzilla 2014 & REALLY love Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
There's one thing that was done better in 2014 that was sort of missing in KOTM. That is the sense of scale that Gareth Edwards executed so well. I hope GvK regains that sense of scale. Even though the massive disdain I have for that farce of a movie in 98, there are a couple of parts that give sense of scale. The beginning when that Japanese ship was attacked. You could just feel how large & heavy that ship was, so naturally your mind begins to process just how large something would need to be to yank on that ship.
The 2nd was when those 3 fishing trollers were pulled back & under. Again, it gave a important scope of how large a monster would need to be.
Does the sense of scale matter though? For me it takes away the fun in the movie. And unfortunately, that's not a good thing for a Godzilla movie
@@jmarcopulos5265 Yes. It does matter. For me, a lack of scale takes away from the fun of a Kaiju. Godzilla King of the Monsters's problem wasn't its lack of scale though, it was simply the lack of weight. No monster felt heavy in this movie. In Godzilla 2014, the Hokmuto's muscles are shown to actually strain due to his flight. It makes him feel like a living, breathing creature. King Ghidorah on the other hand is the largest live-action Kaiju ever and yet we don't see any weight or muscle put into his flying.
But what makes 2014 the worst one is that they try to keep suspense by cutting everytime Godzilla shows up even when he’s shown the moment they actually showed him that should be the moment you stick with him.
Yo dude, really?! Godzilla vs Megalon was also my very 1st Godzilla movie.
Spoiler alert, GvK did not retain this sense of scale
After having looked through kotm extensively it boggles my mind how much better handled this scene is just in terms of sheer build up and presence. The scale and intensity is greater in this 4 minutes than the entirety of kotm
Yeah, people complained that the monsters didn't have enough screentine in 2014, but IMO the few scenes of Godzilla in this one are much more impressive that KOTM. Also the family drama in 2014 wasn't as comically dumb as KoTM
Well the difference is that this one is just monster thriller, while the other is just action they are both different things. You know that some audiences just love pure action.
This scene is brilliant and awesome- yes. However, don’t discount KOTM. Because 2 scenes in that movie are on par with this scene here. #1 the revival scene where he comes out of the ocean and shoots his atomic breath into the sky. #2 the arrival in Boston scene when he knocks Ghidorah back and then marches in with the fighter jets behind him !!
Is it just me or does the Monsterverse get worse and worse with each movie?
I don't like this.

4:16 i love that end sound to the roar
This scene was NO JOKE! in theater! OMG no movie did it for me the way this movie did in theater (credit to MUTO and Godzilla, and music, and especially sound effects).
There’s something about the dark and nightmarish Godzilla in the 2014 movie that I no longer feel with his current self, I still love Godzilla either way

MUTO: Who DARES to oppose me?!
At 4:12
Godzilla: I am Godzilla, King of the Monsters!

I can watch this scene a hundred times and it will still feel like the first time. I remember it was a packed house in the movie theater and everyone cheered and screamed when Godzilla appeared.
I remember everyone being jump scared by the sudden gunfire from the military at Godzilla. 2014 had a few real good jumpscares like that
The Mutos had such cool designs, I wish they did more with them
Gojira Is Revealed I Remember me and My Best Friend Both Screamed HELL YEAH in theaters back in 2014 4ever A Memory For life 😁

4:02 I love this roar!
4:13 THIS IS A ROAR!!
Did anyone else notice that Godzilla only started using his atomic breath AFTER he knew the MUTOs nest was destroyed?
Probably because the MUTO eggs also emit EMP
What I really like about this particular monsterverse, is that it has a lot of sequences that build and build. The other movies just have action, which is cool of course, but I like delaying the anticipation more
Happy 6 years to this beautiful movie
Can’t believe it’s been that long already 😢. Still my 2nd favourite film of all time.
@@Grandmaster_Dragonborn rly? It would of been amazing if it wasnt just humans all the time. The camera angles and sounds and everything are out of this world amazing im just dissappointed it was executed so poorly considering godzilla got like 5 minutes of screentime. The new godzilla on the other hand was all that amazingness, and so much of it. Nothing but fighting its great. I dont care about the lack of realism or the annoying family. I signed up for huge badass monsters fighting and i got just that. I feel like they should focus on like the horror side like when in this scene u cant see or hear the monster until flares reveal them i think its briliant and would be a thrill to watch in the cinema, just imagune the atmosphere. Im just a big godzilla fan lol dont mind me
Fijingernuts 44 Well I think it was amazing, and it wasn’t just humans all the time, Godzilla got 10 minutes not 5, and while he could have done with more, it’s about the same amount he got in the classic films, and it makes you all the more ready and excited to see him when he appears, and when he does appear, it really delivers, especially that final battle. Now I think KOTM was good, but not as good as 2014, and hey, if you like that; monsters fighting none stop , that’s okay, there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s badass AF, but monsters fighting alone isn’t enough to make a good film, and personally, I’m a sucker for realism, this film, did focus a fair bit of the horror elements of the franchise; Godzilla looking like he was coming straight for the boat and the Muto and the bridge was legit terrifying, and you not being able to see is not the film’s fault, that’s down to the blu ray; it’s been proven the quality for the blu ray version of this was awful, the one we saw in cinemas and all other versions i can see just fine.
But yeah mate I’m like you, just another Big G fan, don’t mind, we’ve all got opinions and it’s good, it’s shows how much me love Godzilla ;)
@@Grandmaster_Dragonborn i still find it hilarious as dark as it is that every human near godzilla while doing his explosion things will be dead in like 2 weeks due to the radiation levels
Fijingernuts 44 True, but in this film, it’s not really as big amount of radiation he gives off so I can look past it, i can’t in KOTM though, everyone present in that final battle should have died on the spot when Burning Godzilla came in.

Sends shivers down my spine
4:00 grum-gree grum- CAAACAWAWAA
To understand how good this movie and King of the monsters was you would have had to watched a lot of the old films including the 1998 film "Godzilla". These movies did Godzilla a lot more justice and were less campy like the old time movies. Think 1960's Batman then the Dark knight in 2008, however saying that a lot of the old movies were very good in their own way also especially the first 1954 film.
I would say the latest Monsterverse movies are as campy as the older Millennium movies.
1:23
I got goosebumps and chills at the same time my god......
What makes this scene so great was that the people in hawaii were so scared of the muto that it was wreaking havoc all around the world and the moment godzilla came to face the muto when his foot stomped into the airport everybody stopped screaming and notice that godzilla can take on the muto and destroy it once and for all and save humanity and become the king of the monsters and the protect it of the world.
When I was at the movie theater to see the Godzilla movie, I was excited and hyped to see Godzilla’s full appearance
Although I may be Catto, the Doggo is the only thing that should have survive
watching this with a sarround sound setup and bass boost sounds SICK!
4:11 My 13 year old self: can’t it be
How did they not hear his footsteps before he was lit up by the flares? He just became a ninja for a second?
He was a ninja at the airport too, right before his entrance.
I wish the newer Monsterverse movies would demonstrate the sheer impact the Titans had on Humankind more often, just like how 2014 did.
Who notice Grimlock's Roar at 2:30
It's a pretty common roar but yea its there
The most exciting, tense Godzilla reveal ever...I had shivers and chills when I saw this moment at the movies...
0:21
I went into this movie 100% convinced that it was going to be as bad, if not worse than Godzilla 2000.
I was already cheering when the "We call him...Godzilla" scene came up. But then this scene happened, and I felt like when I was six years old watching the original Godzilla movies. Ecstatic, excited. Depression and anxiety washing away.
I truly need to know if the people behind this movie were huge fans of the originals, or if they at the very least consulted with fans of the original movies. Either way, they really nailed Godzilla's character in this movie.
I know this is 3 years late but I just need to point out what an homage the directers and artists payed to the original Godzilla
His design is accurate yet even more menacing, and his roar is CLASSIC
@@ChaotiX1 Well, what I love is that the roar in this movie is the original roar from the older movies, they just did a little sound editing with it to make it sound similar, but modern.
Again, either they consulted with fans, or the people doing the designs are fans themselves.
@@judgem0rt1s23 i heard that they took inspiration from Tanakas studio and ran a boot across a bass drum
@@ChaotiX1 Maybe that's it. Either way, the version I listed is the one I heard. Outside of that, still very impressed with 2016 and KotM
@@judgem0rt1s23 I should clarify his scream is digitally altered from the original. But the tail end of his roar that sounds like a deep pitched. Growl was made by running A hiking boot across a bass drum, Similar to how Tanaka ran a glove across a bass string for the original

The dog was the only smart character to outsmart a tidal wave

The cut after Godzilla's introduction to Sam Brody sleeping on the couch is underappreciated. Godzilla's roar still echoes a bit after the cut to Sam. Sam is sleeping. Does dream of Godzilla? Does the echoes of Godzilla's roar awaken him to find the dream to be a reality as the monster battle is shown on the TV screen. It's great! Godzilla 2014 is the only good movie to come out of the MonsterVerse as the following films never live up to it.

Is it weird that I get nostalgic when hearing his roar, even when I’m 11?
Javo Moto nope! It gives me goosebumps even now. I saw the movie with my brothers in the theater when we were all kids. Even at 19 I feel nostalgic watching this scene!

Arnold Ayala they can swim but he most like died from all the stuff in there, like he could’ve gotten hit by a floating car underwater
No one can not survive by the giant wave coming at you like 50 miles or 90 and kill you insanely
I like to think the dog got inside the building with all those people, either that, or he was able to get far enough to where the waves weren’t as deadly and he safely swam, dogs can run faster than humans.
