There are many factors involved with playing perfect live. Sweat on the strings and neck just to name one. He was the one who played the solos in the studio so we all know he could play. Why be a dick? It’s not like you are saying anything new. Release your live concert footage of you playing something great and I might consider taking you even remotely seriously.
Every time I have seen him do this solo, there are differences. Some subtle, some major. And I know he liked to do that. But after seeing it done 100 different ways, can someone tell me how it is always perfect. I have never seen another guitar player do that. Most stay on script with very little changes to their major songs. This is an iconic solo, but it's always different and always awesome! I guess that is why he is Jimmy Page and everyone else, outside of Hendrix, is mortal!

Page uses very little distortion in his solos. That's why the are fresh, crisp and sparkle. Dave Mustaine has commented on and marvels on how clean Page's tone is.
Those 2 T Top Pickups (7.6k Low Wind) working together in the middle position give that Classic "hollow chirp' ... Why do people always do Page Solos on the Treble /Bridge Pickup ? Its wrong.. Page uses the Middle slot much more than any other.. Also Riffs : Whole lotta Love , Rock and Roll, Tea for One, Black Dog.. all Middle Postion on the Les Paul

I clicked on the video, saw it was 5+ min long, I thought: oh this must be the whole song! nope. This is Led Zeppelin- 5 minutes is pretty standard for one guitar solo
I've seen them live in 72 and 73 Denver, CO. Jimmy played that solo for 30 minutes! He played many for even longer! I was 14 , and I've never seen a better group of guys than Zeppelin! And I've seen a lot. They played off each other so beautifully! It was magical, and being led mostly by the Wizard 😜👍
People in the comments complaining because the solo didn't match the record don't know anything about Led Zeppelin. The people in that audience got way more than they paid for. Zep poured their entire souls into every performance. They put the work in and now they will live on forever.

I guess for a more consistent version you would go to TSRTS soundtrack. This solo was a bit long, but many sections show why he is in the top3 or top5 rock guitarists ever. Now Bonzo helped enormously, Jimmy was lost for a while without him. Still, remember Jimmy never plays it too safe. Even other great guitarists may rely on overtly scripted solos. And sometimes Jimmy can be sloppy, but sometimes he can almost shred. But, Bonzo was in many ways not just a drummer but also a rhythm guitar, and without Bonzo Jimmy didn’t sound nearly as big or ferocious.
No because the first thing people think of when they see the SG double neck is Page and Stairway 😂 Not many people have used them since. One of the most rock and roll looks ever though... the dragon suit, the dark frizzy hair and that guitar ... 👌👌🤟🤟
Before the heroine kicked in, sadly shortly after these gigs he started dabbling during the recording of presence. It was still a great LP and page playing lights out, but it soon killed his motor skills and sadly in 77 he was all over the place (still had some great nights) and by 79 he was just a shadow of himself
I have the Vancouver shows cds from the 1975 show . One of my favorite concerts from them . I’ve got to say I’m so jealous of you !!! I’m only 26 years old and I been listening to them since I was born . Truly jealous . One of the best no quarter performances and dazed and confused were the Vancouver days in 1975
I just watched 20 guitar tutorials for stairway here on you tube ,I thought they nailed it!? I realize all of those people were light years away from even coming close to the master Jimmy Page

I may land into different genres of music from time to time however it all started with led zeppelin and that's just my roots. They'll always be my favorite band for their uniqueness, plain and simple. I don't have a led zep tat for nothing, they're the bees knees!
I saw another solo live of Stairway To Heaven. And again ppls looks kinda dissapointed that it didnt sound exactly as studio version. Only few guys dare to improvise on each live performance and reinvent itself as Jimmy does basically every fucking time. I would love to be there.
