    I have a chocolate lab. Just bought him his first bed as sick of waking up in middle of night with his head on top of mine as I cling to the edge of the bed. I need to sleep too Magnus!

    Super helpful video Tom! When introducing new distractions (someone at the door) would you use the same process for the place command? Thanks again and keep the videos coming 👍

    Could you please make a video about leash biting! :)

      I'm certainly no trainer but the gentle tug, tug with my fingers while saying "no" during teaching to heel etc (using training collar) has been correcting this. It's also beginning to help the non stop reactive biting later off leash. I think our rescue pup is app 5 mos...

    My dog had never been trained, he doesn’t know how to interact with other people. He tends to bark at everyone and anyone when I walk him outside. Could you give me some tips on how to train him, or who to take him to? Or make a video for it?

    So it is OK to have multiple "places", one for outside and one for in the house? We adopted a dog and we don't want to make it confusing for her ... love this channel !

      This is my question, as well. For example, if my dog is at a friend's house and I want him to go to "place", what does that look like for him since he's been trained that place is the raised bed in my kitchen? Or what if he is upstairs at my house and his "place" is downstairs but I need him to go to place at that exact moment in my bedroom upstairs?

    Hi Tom, is it dried beef liver you use as treats and how gentle is it on their stomachs? I use 'go to crate' command but when doorbell goes they still go nuts. Bought remote doorbell and press it periodically but they've worked out it's a fake! Thanks Tom.

    Our 80 LB, 11 month old pit lab cross is very smart and stubborn. He tries to sleep with us. He knows place command but is terrible about stay-either from place or sit. I have heard letting them sleep in our bed is a bad idea. Is letting him up on our bed part of the problem? We are having to put him on a tie out. When we go out to interact with him and play, is the only time we have an issue with him jumping up and grabbing our arms. Is this dominant behavior ? Do you have a video dealing with this that we missed?

    Is this the first time she’s done place? I’m curious, why use a marker for a skill the dog doesn’t know if so? Why not do the behavior, reward the behavior and then label it?

    Hi mate I'm Paul from Australia. Just wanted to say I really enjoy your vids.. I was just wondering with your place command is it the same command if you are also crate training your pup ( as he has raised beds oitside ) or do you use a separate command for place and the crate
    Thanks

    If a dog is crate trained, should the "place" be the crate or should it be something other than the crate?

    • @tomdavisofficial
      @tomdavisofficial  5 лет назад

      Corpsie Corpsie no you can just use place, it will separate the 2 nicely

    I can't hold a treat like that by my dogs face, he bites really hard when accepting treats. It's only sometimes when he accepts stuff gently. But if I were to hold me hand and let him pick like that, he'd probably bite my fingers really hard. 😅

    What are some tips on dealing with dogs who have fear based anxiety with children and males but only in public. At home she’s wonderful but soon as we go out she has a hard time. I have been watching your videos and getting some great tips and it has helped tremendously with her past issues and anxiety we just can get pass this one. I greatly appreciate any feedback or video links. Btw she’s 9 months old and a rescue. We have had her for two months.
    Thanks for this video. She took on place command like a champ.

    I have 2 GSD's a little over 2 years old each. Can I use 1 target for both to share or should I set up 2 different targets--one for each dog?--

    Thanks Tom! From watching your vids, my GS is finally calming down and actually following commands for me. The doorbell still seems to be a trigger. Place and stay work most of the time, but can't get him to place once that bell rings. The barking doesn't bother me as you've said, it's natural. Any tips?

    How do you teach your dog who is really attention seeking

  • @princenero1212
    @princenero1212 4 года назад

    People are weird. Your dog gets up when the doorbell rings because you haven’t taught it to stay in a down. Buying a fake doorbell instead of training down is lazy. If he’s breaking command that’s on you.
