I love your attitude in encouraging yourself and all of us to be less critical of ourselves. I recently finished a baby quilt in which I chopped lots off lots of points and also had to add a long strip to one edge / but everyone said the quilt was beautiful - and I know the baby won’t notice ! So I’m proud of it now. And I’m sure it will see lots of use.
I was absolutely delighted to see you'd posted another video. I believe that anyone who crafts feels exactly the same way about errors in construction. I do a lot of knitting and often lose my way in a pattern. The mistake is very obvious to me but others would never notice it. At the end of the day, anything homemade is always best. ❤❤❤❤ It's going to be a lovely quilt. ❤❤❤
What a gorgeous quilt Rachel 😍 We all beat ourselves up unnecessarily over our little UDF's (Unique Design Feature). That's what I call my "oopsies" in my sewing and knitting! No one will ever know, and if anyone is ever rude enough to point it out, tell them to bug ger off! 😂😂 I 100% agree with hand quilting in a contrast thread. I love hand quilting. See you next time ❤
I just love the quilt Rachel and think I will copy t he idea to use up some fabric picture squares that I have been struggling to think of a design for. Like many of us you do not I presume have a designated sewing room and it is great to see you creating both large and small projects in your space.
I love your videos, having only recently returned to quilting. I think that quilt looks beautiful and you’re right, the secondary pattern is lovely. My vote’s on the contrasting coloured quilting as well 😊
I tend to like matching the quilting thread to the color of the blocks but I think this quilt will really pop in a beautiful way if you use the red and green quilting thread. I get a little tired of so many quilters who use a quilting machine - it seems that hand quilting is a thing of the past. I find hand quilting is very peaceful and restful and gives me time to enjoy the process so I'm glad you plan to hand quilt it. Can't wait to see the finished project!!
Wow Rachel you certainly cracked on with that one. It is lovely. I noticed your partner and dog sitting in the background watching tv. He's a patient man isn't he. Xx
Your quilt is beautiful. I love the idea of coloured quilting. I personally would probably do some red and some green but I love a scrappy look. I think though it would add a bit of extra character and interest to the quilt. But you do you! ❤❤
I am a new sub. Your video I saw before was just charming. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Your quilt is quite lovely. Me and Jack {the seam ripper} are well acquainted. lol I use a portable mat under the wool mat to absorb moisture. I learned the hard way too...Remember that as aggravating as it is... we learn from our mistakes,,, I really lie your work very much! O am not good at the quilting part and I can not afford to alwasy send it off tp the longarmer. I am impressed that you hand quilt. Oh my goodness!!
Yes, Rachel. We DO know what you’re like! You’re a wonderful quilter who makes the world a better place with the beautiful things you make! I like the idea of contrasting big-stitch quilting for this project!
I think the phrase bobbin chicken is hilarious 😂. I don't think we have a name for that in germany 🤔. I'm always a bit shy with contrasting stitches but don't let anybody get in your way about that. I'm curious what it will look like (fantastic probably 😊)
Hello Rachel you are very organized. I tried to get ahead of my self and cut all my pieces, but the problem was I read pattern wrong and I cut all of one piece an inch to short. So I learnt a lesson and only cut a few at a time from now on. I like how you had everything on a tray in a pretty way ready to sew. This video was great. The quilt is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
I got some silicon baking sheets and I pop those under my wool mat when I use it for ironing on my desk. I also always end up cutting off my points, no matter how careful I am, at least one will always end up chopped. I just roll with it now, no-one else ever notices.
The quilt is absolutely stunning! I love how the busy central square is surrounded by quieter pieces. I wonder if colored thread for quilting would overwhelm the balance of the soft and strong reds and greens. My vote is for a cream thread. You could unravel some pearl cotton and lay it out on the quilt to see what the effect would be.
Thank you, yeah I had wondered that aswell, there will still be some places where I quilt in cream like inside the larger cream spaces. Good idea to lay the thread out! I am plan to quilt it over Christmas so I need to get everything ordered and ready 💖
That's a stunning quilt. Thank you for sharing your process, including mistakes, which are definitely not noticeable. I think the red thread will be fantastic.
So nice and fast too ! I just finished number 58 on the 100 squares quilt and have never been so glad to lay down a project in my life!!! I am taking a break from it and sewing Christmas presents too. Spent the day making book bags for my twin grandsons. What a joy to do something fast and easy. I could see you felt the same with your Christmas quilt. I really love the secondary design that showed up in the background! Have a lovely holiday season dear girl. Jean Colorado USA
I, too would vote for contrasting color 🥰 I am actually doing that very thing on a quilt for my bed & it really does make it “pop” 😊 You are such a joy to watch & your honest thoughts on not taking little mistakes seriously is wonderful❣️
So sorry your table got damaged Rachel. I think your idea of hand quilting your Christmas quilt in contrasting thread is a good idea and will look great. It turned out gorgeous. Well done💕
Rachel, what a lovely Christmas quilt. As a quilter myself I am at times very critical of my own work, something I am working on not doing. I think a lovely contrasting colour will look really nice. Thank you for being a highlight of my week. Hello from Australia.
So beautiful. When I first started quilting, I would stay up until 2 o’clock in the morning, working diligently on whatever project it was. I just love it, but those aren’t my hours anymore! I hope you have many more happy years of quilt crafting, you do such a lovely work.❤
Sorry about your table. Lori Holt gives a great tutorial on how to make her ironing boards. I will be making one now you have said about your table. I went to a DIY store where they have a cutting machine and bought a couple of off cuts much cheaper than off the shelf. You are doing so well with your machine quilting. It's a great quilt. You must be so proud.❤🎉😊
The quilt looks beautiful Rachel. I really like the sound of using a contrast thread. I think I'd use a bit of scrap fabric first to see which coloured thread looks best, but I'm sure either colour would look lovely ❤️💚
Absolutely love watching your makes especially when Christmas is involved. Keep up the excellent work.. I’m so glad you let us all watch in. Your choices of colours are so pretty xx
Just finding your channel. This was a nice video to watch. I like you humor and easy going attitude. This is a beautiful quilt. I might have to buy this one, ouch. I'm not suppose to be buying any more kits or fabric this year. I put a ban on myself, I have such a Hugh stash, lol.😂🤣 Thanks for sharing, Ill have to follow you. Can you tell me where you live, I probably missed it somewhere. Thank you again. Happy Holidays and good luck with all your Christmas quilts. I'll be doing the same.
Your quilting is phenomenal and you have a great eye for color. Would it be possible to produce a video about accurate cutting? Lots of love from Tasmania Australia
The Xmas quilt is beautiful. I would hesitate about red quilting thread as it will show up clearly & will need to be reasonably neat. Cream would be safer but you may like to live dangerously ! :)
I love the quilt. A mid green might be nice to quilt it. Out of interest, does your partner wear wireless headphones to watch tv while you have the sewing machine running? My machine is noisy.
He doesn't but he woul generally only watch the football while I'm sewing because he says the sound doesn't matter. I do tend to sew slower so it isn't as noisy 🤣 but if he watches a film or something I'll just hand sew
Hi lovely, I’m working on a project that contains lots of half square triangles. I noticed you don’t sew directly onto the diagonal line, is this how you would recommend them be done? I can’t get the perfect square so I wonder if it’s because I sew on the drawn line, I hope this makes sense and I hope you can help thank you, I love your videos you inspire me to get my sewing machine out! P.s I used my wool pressing mat on my wooden bench and ended up staining the underneath so you’re not alone ha
Morning 😃 I am using the "two at a time" method for the half square triangles, so you sew 1/4" from the line on either side and then trim along the line. It's always good to make your HST a little bigger than needed so you can trim down but when trimming ensure that the centre line is matched up with the diagonal line on your ruler so you trim evenly.
Hi again - I’m attempting to make your striking 60o diamond Christmas tree skirt. I’d like to study it again before I proceed. I looked on Instagram and in your Etsy shop but it didn’t appear. Please help me locate a photo of it if you have time to spare.
I found it and it’s prettier than I remembered. I’m using 1 1/2” diamonds. My old memory didn’t serve me very well. Thanks again for sharing all your pretty projects. I’m new to EPP but already I can relate to your aching hands.
I love your attitude in encouraging yourself and all of us to be less critical of ourselves. Such a beautiful quilt! And great idea to use red hand stitching 😊❤. Thank you for sharing your quilting!!
Beautiful quilt. I think the hand quilting would look lovely in the cream. ❤️🌺
So cute seeing your partner and dog in the background while you sew away. ❤
I just had to leave that clip in 💖
What a gorgeous quilt Rachel 😍 We all beat ourselves up unnecessarily over our little UDF's (Unique Design Feature). That's what I call my "oopsies" in my sewing and knitting! Oh Wow Rachel - Your quilt turned out so pretty. It’s very big. That’s gonna be a lot of hand quilting!!! I think the Red will look amazing. Hugs!
Somehow I didn't realise how big it was going to be 🤣
Your quilt turned out so pretty yes I think hand stitching with red pearl cotton would look awesome
I just love the quilt Rachel and think I will copy t he idea to use up some fabric picture squares that I have been struggling to think of a design for. Like many of us you do not I presume have a designated sewing room and it is great to see you creating both large and small projects in your space.
I look forward to seeing your new videos pop up. You are a joy to watch. Thank you!

Beautiful Rachel and I agree red Perle 8 would look lovely xx
Thank you for the vote of confidence 💖
Wow Rachael. What a beautiful quilt. I would go for the contrasting threads.
Hello Rachel you are very organized. I tried to get ahead of my self and cut all my pieces, but the problem was I read pattern wrong and I cut all of one piece an inch to short. What a beautiful quilt! Contrasting thread with your quilting skills sounds great. For my skills, I definitely need it to blend in. 😊
🤣 I thought the same about my stitches
You did a beautiful job! I vote for contrasting thread.
Oh what a beautiful quilt well done ❤
I feel all chrimassy now I have watched you sew your beautiful quilt.
I got some silicon baking sheets and I pop those under my wool mat when I use it for ironing on my desk.
I also always end up cutting off my points, no matter how careful I am, at least one will always end up chopped. I just roll with it now, no-one else ever notices.
The quilt is beautiful. It is a great pattern that can be changed for any season.
Absolutely gorgeous 😍 ❤️ quilt
The quilt looks wonderful

Rachael your Christmas Quilt is gorgeous and it will be lovely to use every Christmas.❤❤
I look forward to pulling it out every year!
What about quilting in the cream areas with a variegated thread? I also like your idea of quilting in red and green threads.
Lovely block. Nice job Rachel 😊

Beautiful! Love the fabrics you chose.
What a beautiful quilt. Can't wait to see the finished product. I also think the red would be good for hand quilting. It should stand out nicely. ❤
Rachel, what a lovely Christmas quilt. As a quilter myself I am at times very critical of my own work, something I am working on not doing. I think a lovely contrasting colour will look really nice. Thank you for being a highlight of my week. Hello from Australia.

What about Christmas trees in the cream spaces? or wreaths?
So neat and pretty

The Xmas quilt is beautiful. I would hesitate about red quilting thread as it will show up clearly & will need to be reasonably neat. Cream would be safer but you may like to

I Vote for red thread on cream blocks. And if you run out of time what about machine embroidery stitch ecoing the shapes. Holly leaves etc
You need an accuquilt , I’ve recently had one as a Birthday gift and it will save my hands for sure
I really do!
I love the quilt. A mid green might be nice to quilt it.
Out of interest, does your partner wear wireless headphones to watch tv while you have the sewing machine running?

Hi again - I’m attempting to make your striking 60o diamond Christmas tree skirt. I’d like to study it again before I proceed. I looked on Instagram and in your Etsy shop but it didn’t appear. Please help me locate a photo of it if you have time to spare.
Hello there, the pattern and video tutorial for the tree skirt is available exclusively through the Alice Caroline Christmas Sew Along Festival 💖
@ thank you. Is it possible to see the episode with your skirt again? I’m pretty good at building patterns from things I study a bit.
I’m searching I’m sure I’ll find it. Thanks
I found it and it’s prettier than I remembered. I’m using 1 1/2” diamonds. My old memory didn’t serve me very well. Thanks again for sharing all your pretty projects. I’m new to EPP but already I can relate to your aching hands.
