      4:08 - I expected the filter to be filled with oil before installation. Might not sound to be a big deal but makes the filling of the engine with oil a bit easyer, and the engine doesn't run without oil, not even for a split second.

    I have a Suzuki Ritz with the same petrol K12M engine. The problem I am facing is with the Spark plug removal socket. I got the 16mm made by stanley, but it gets stuck half way in the spark plug chute. It is an OD(Outer diameter) issue. There is a thin steel sleeve inside that has an ID lesser than 22mm. Can you give me details of the socket set you are using and where can I get it?

    Hi, I got a suzuki swift (japan import) 2007 with the k12b engine. It’s got 147000km (90000 miles). When I bought it I took it for an oil change and my mechanic used shell helix hx7 10w40. I told him isn’t that a little too thick for that engine? He told me first of all that it’s got some mileage on it and the second thing is that where I live it gets pretty hot like 40 degrees celcius. I wasn’t sure so I told another mechanic and he said the same thing. Were they both right or not? Thanks

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  3 года назад

      Hi. In most parts of the India the temperatures cross 40-45 degrees Celsius. We follow the oil grade recommended by the manufacturer. For this engine, Maruti Suzuki was suggesting 5W-40 ever since we got it. Then later on, Maruti Authorised dealers started moving to 0W-20, which is what most Indian made K12 engines are running if they are serviced by the dealer. 10W-40 indeed is thick and I doubt it's recommended for Petrol engines. As for the heat and general climate in your region, 5W-40 is extensive and comprehensive enough to easily service most hot conditions as well. Not just Maruti, but even Honda and Volkswagen engines have been happily complying to 5W-40 in these same climatic conditions

      @thecomptech2113 3 года назад

      @@SujoyShivde thanks very much for your reply. If I switch from 10w40 to 5w40 will it start burning oil? And another question should I use semi synthetic or fully synthetic. The 10w40 I used was semi synthetic

      Hey, the latest copy of my owner's manual recommends 0W-20 engine oil. The Maruti Authorised Service Centre has switched 0W-20 on newer Maruti Engines and some are even using 0W-16 on models like the Ciaz. I did check my last few service bills and they indeed have been using 0W-20 for this Engine. Mobil Super 1000 is Semi Synthetic while Mobil Super 3000 is claimed to be Full Synthetic. Both are entry level oils even for Mobil1's Oil Catalogue. Thanks for watching ☺️

      @@theaviatorguy8072 I've attached a soft copy of the Manual in the Description. Page 187 says 0W-20 is the Recommended Engine Oil for Petrol Engines. Yes, I never believe service centres, but in case of Engines going wrong due to incorrect oil, they will get grilled by Maruti Suzuki. Manufacturers like Maruti seem to be testing their engines with thinner oils for better Fuel Efficiency. Honestly mate, a lot of WagonR owner's in my circle who have clocked more than 2L kilometres have also been using 0W-20 over 5W-30, so I really doubt that 0W-20 has been bad for them. It's the manufacturer recommendation for my car for sure, and so I believe it should be fine. Thanks again!

      Are you facing any issues like a Check Engine Light or Black Smoke or Excessive Engine Vibrations? Would suggest getting the vehicle scanned from a good mechanic for any fault codes. A faulty sensor relating to Mass Air Flow, or a Fuel can cause this. How much has your car been driven? Have you ever replaced Fuel Filter? These could be a common starting point to try and pinpoint your issue.

    Dont cheap out. Use a full synthetic oil. Semi synthetics are a marketing gimmick with less than 15% synthetic content. Synthetics will show far less wear at high mileage and run smoother.

      Quite the opposite actually. True synthetics will fare better no doubt, but true synthetics make false claims compared to their semi-synthetic counterparts.

      @@SujoyShivde from what i know semi synthetics are scoffed at buy experts as a scam. Do you think they are 50%synthetic? No way. Its not even 15% . In the suzuki 1.0 boosterjet oil consumption was much higher with semi synthetics compared to mobil and valvoline synthetics. This is personal experience.

      Semi-synthetics are just fine for customers or drivers who drive less than 10k Kms a year. Any more money for a stronger oil, doesn't make sense for such use cases. Companies have tried and tested engines with both kinds of oils for reliability. In fact, car makers like Hyundai use these by default and ask for an additional premium for Synthetic oils. Turbo Petrols and Performance engines are a different breed tho. I wouldn't put Semi-Synthetic in my Polo 1.0 TSI. Also, not all brands are honest about their Full-Synthetic claims either. It's better to not overpromise and under-deliver.

      @@SujoyShivde my sisters toyota vitz 1.0 3 cylinder also ran noticeably smoother,quieter and revved freely with a change to valvoline full synthetic compared mobil semi synthetic. The price difference was peanuts. I Doubt Any major synthetic brand like mobil castrol and valvoline would make over the top claims. They all are sp and gf 6. None of my many friends who converted to mobil 1 and valvoline synthetics will never go back to their old semi synthetics. Perhaps car companies and sone mechanics recommend semi synthetics to stay in business and make more money on repairs down the line. When an oil pumps up faster to critical parts at cold starts, reduces friction and runs cooler ,leave less sludge for the incremental price of a fast food meal , i dont see the logic in not using it .

      I have a feeling you don't know the Indian car market and automotive spare scene here, since you refer to a car and engine Toyota has never offered here. The price between semi-synthetic and claimed full synthetic oil is quite substantial for the common man here. The price difference might be peanuts in your region, but if the manufacturer sells a base spec and customers use it, then it's surely been tried and tested. There is no reason to believe using the base spec the manufacturer recommends is an inappropriate practice. This is not called cheaping out, it's called sticking to the manufacturer's recommendation. If you want a better product, you may always opt for it and enjoy it, but that doesn't mean the base spec is incompetent for the same task. Sticking to manufacturer recommended engine oils has had many car owners cross 200k+ Kms/miles in quite a few varying conditions.
