Wish my Echo SRM-225 had attachments for hedging. It’s a powerful machine and was starting to bog down and found the mesh spark arrestor screen in the exhaust was plugged up with carbon. So I cleaned it but tried the trimmer without it and boy the sucker is now a Beast. Much more power and uses less fuel. Really pleased with it.
Thanks for explaining that lovely piece of tool. I have been enjoying your channel especially when you used that tool . The hedges are so beautiful , they look artificial . I really love the video , where you cut back a hedge . The way you cut it , it came off in one piece like a wall . Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming . Thank you.
I have the rough version of this hedge cutter with catcher. Great bit of kit very handy to use and powerful as well. So easy and fast to use. If only I could cut hedges straight.
@@losttheplot26 see ur point now yep the blades are straight all be it I bough this machine second had. I do have other hedge trimmers two but struggle to do a good job. My skill level on hedges is not the best.
I use a narrow plastic rake to clean the tops of mine. I have a Stihl HS-45 with a 28" bar. I take my Husqvarna riding mower and grind the clippings up in the grass. You only have a few branches that didn't grind up to rake. 🐀🐾
Used these in the past and they are great! Unfortunately most of the hedges I cut these days are not exactly ornamental shall we say! 🤣 For smaller hedges and shrubs I use the Husqvarna 122HD60 with a Stihl HS45 as backup, and for the big stuff, I use the Husqvarna 522HDR75X with a Stihl HS81R as backup. For long reach, I use the Husqvarna 535LK pro combi! All very tough and reliable machines in my opinion!
@@RJLgardens. I absolutely love my HS81R and thought nothing could touch it, However the 522HDR75X has the same grunt but far more comfortable to use! Don't see any videos on it, but would highly recommend it. The Husqvarna 522HDR75X, a little known masterpiece!!!
I have enjoyed your video RJL. You are certainly very good at your work ! Thank you for you video, very beautiful work and so straight. I always have a problem with ticks and other insects when I go into the garden. always get bitten by someone. how do you protect yourself?
I have wasps in mine. Use a fogger/mister and add Wisdom TC mixed to it. You can use Ortho Home Defense. The chemical shouldn't hurt most hedges. More delicate stuff you can use Neem oil. 🐀🐾
@@djratino Thanks for the info. I had ticks , when I was in the taller grass, after that I always find some on me, I probably have delicious blood, or maybe I should use Wisdom TC on my skin to protect. @@elenavalikov3862 Wisdom TC should not be used on your skin! It's an industrial pesticide sold at Tractor Supply. Try lemongrass or citronella essential oil.
I could see where this whould come in super handy but with a double sided hedge cutter I just go back and forth and mulch everything up and most of the time there's Notting to pull off the top of hedge's 🤔also that's a super nice healthy hedge 🤠👍
Yeh you would only notice leaving bits of mulch on the top on these sort of low dense hedges, you can just about get away with it on your standard type hedges. This hedge was a mess a few years back and is just starting to recover now. it had put on a lot of growth 😃👍
@@harryfinch4986 Tbf the dealer did chuck it in when i asked for it for free 😂. Not tried any of the latest echo stuff and have a few makitas, still mainly stihl for me tho atm mate 👍
Do you know if it‘s possible to attach this STIHL catcher blade to hedge trimmers of other manufacturers, e.g. Atika? I have a HB 60 N and truly believe this kind of attachment would make my hedge trimming life a little bit easier for me…thanks in advance.
It would be easier to make your own one out of some sheet metal or something as they are normally made to suit each hedge trimmer so it wouldnt fit properly without modifying it.
Can you show how did you attached this cather plate?? I want this but not getting in my country so can you guide if i want to make that plate at home how can i make?
I like both and I pick and choose which is most suitable for the job at hand. I've not tried the husky battery trimmers. I think most battery kit needs more work on the durability.

You can probably get an echo hedge trimmer attachment head for it and bolt it straight onto the shaft 👍

Looks like it helps the blade glide across the hedge also as opposed to digging in too far. I’m sold on it. Dear father Xmas……..
No doesn't help with the gliding along the hedge, that's still down to the operator unfortunately 😀
