Comparing the Stihl HL91 and HS82R Hedge Trimmers

- You may be used to a traditional hedge trimmer like the Stihl HS82R, and if you’re trimming smaller hedges or topiaries, then this is a great machine for the job. But if you’ve got taller hedges that have you getting up on a ladder to trim, then you should look into the extended reach that the HL91 offers. This trimmer allows you to cut a wider arc, helping you to power through your hedge trimming faster and saving you from having to lean over your ladder at precarious angles.

I always use both handheld and long reach giving me the best of both worlds! The HS82R is most definitely not for small detailed work, I have the HS81R still and it's a brute! Kept sharp, it gives a great finish but it's built for cutting through thick hedges, while the long reach are trimmers not cutters!
Agree 100% also try the 82t if you haven’t got one. 30” rather then the 24 shown here. Lighter then the r,smaller tooth spacing and faster cutting speed leaves the best finish in my opinion and Iv tried a good few. looking forward to trying the new electric 94t.
Hi That type of hedge is the worst hedge to cut what is your Thoughts 🤔
Good info, do you have a video about the HL94?
Thank you for the information. Tomorrow I wil become the HL 94 I pay 6300 danish 🇩🇰 crowns 👍🏼👍🏼
30 inch hs 82 much better reach .turn ladder sideways you’ll get an extra foot reach
Excellent - Most informative - I learnt a lot.
Thank you for watching and subscribe I appreciate your support
The hl91 just like my ht103 and hs 130 is a 4mix . Nice sound
I prefer the single sided hedge trimmer
Is a kombi going to be just as good when compared to this extended hedge trimmer in the video?
The Kombi will end up being about 15 inches longer and it messes with the balance point a little bit
given that I'd like to have one engine for lots of tools .. what's you view on Professional KombiEngine with kombi hedge trimmer?
Doesn’t have quite the balance but when you are looking for one engine the Kombi is hard to beat.
@@Carlsmower thanks for the advice .. given that I'm mostly edging the hedge Kombi tool would probably do as an additional add on .. have you done one on the virtues of the Kombi set up?.
You need the HL 94 or the 94K get rid of the ladder 😁
For the right width of hedge yes. This hedge would not allow the whole top to be covered from the ground. But I do like the 94k a lot too.
A 30” hs82t is the job for that hedge if you’ve got the arms for it
Have you ran the HL91?
@@Carlsmower I have not. I Have a 94 and 131 Kombi engines with attachments and have always mainly used the handheld design so im comfortable with it but Iv seen a couple of lads on RUclips doing excellent work with the 91 so I’m considering one. That’s what led me to your video. What’s the electric equivalent do you know?
@@Tomhonks HLA135
There is a way to make your 94 Kombi into a short trimmer. A bit tricky but, pull the upper shaft, install the lower line trimmer shaft in its place and the drop the hedge trimmer gearbox on it. Allows you to try it out
@@Carlsmower cheers for that il give it a go. I’m in ireland so the prices on the gear is insane compared to the us or even the uk or the rest of Europe. The 91 is nearly $900
@@Tomhonks that is insane
In the future I would try have slightly higher video quality (1080 or better), that way we can see everything a little better
