Wow 4000 strokes per minute is very quick, looks interesting machine, that was very steady handed trimming of the box, showed real skill. Great video and shots. 👍👍
I was looking for something g a bit lighter..i use a combi system but when your up a ladder and reaching as far as you can in front of you to get across the too of a hedge it really takes its toll on you. Plus if your at hedges all day you'd need a few batteries a day.
Stihl absolutely nailed it with the look (AND the new features!) of the new pro battery line. They eventually learned to design a hot machine lol! I always envied Husqvarna for their design being a Stihl user but hey Stihl is coming up fast!
Great video mate. The 3 speeds for me are great where you can adjust for different species. Back in the petrol days trying to keep the trigger at the same speed wasnt easy.
That's a nice trimmer. I just bought the gas powered HL 94 a few weeks ago. When the HLA 135 comes to Canada, I'll probably get one of those also. Thanks for all the good equipment reviews.
next time try with AP500. I have the 135 but in the other format for i use it in more heavier stuff. I have 3 AP300S batteries and one AP500S it is not very very much but yes it last little longer.
Thank you for the video. Out of interest have you used both the longer version and K shorter version? Wondering what is better more practice day to day?
This is the only version I have used. I guess it all comes down to personal preference and your trimming style as to which machine to choose. Thank you for watching 👍
Your videos are very well presented, informative. I have a HLA 56 for private use but my cherry laurel’s branches are getting thicker and thicker over the years so I might need to upgrade. Quick question: how do you sharpen the blades? Perhaps you can make a video on this?
The machine does have a shaft to drive the cutter head, so there is slightly more vibration than say the HLA 66. but because there is no two stroke engine, the vibration is far less.
Great video. I have the petrol km 131 combi petrol engine and hedge cutter attachment. Would this be heavier then that. Also it would this battery unit be very similar to using stihl new battery combi engine and hedge cutter attachment
As far as I know - This unit has the same performance as the KMA 135 with a hedge trimmer attachment. The ultimate weight of the unit will depend on the battery you use. But one thing that definitely stands out over the petrol unit - The lack of fumes, less vibration - less noise. The battery machines are an absolute pleasure to use. Thank you for watching 👍
the stihl hedge trimmers are way to heavy and vibrate like crazy. i have one and i ended up doing some research and the best one i've found is the ryobi telesopic one. zero vibration and i can hold it up all day. i usually wouldn't buy ryobi but sometimes...
stihl have come up with the goods with this one 👍 one tiny niggle is I like to use my long reach on box etc so I tip guard would have been good.cheers.
Αnother great video, thank you. I prefer the HLA 85 (more extension-lighter) from the HLA 135 Unfortunately all 135 series is much heavier than the corresponding pro battery series.
@@TheFullyChargedGardener that's too bad. I want to move to battery and trying to find a reason to stay with stihl. Just don't know how safe it is with the power cord on my waste on a ladder.
Hello mate been taking in your expert knowledge , brilliant vids shocking ozzy accent! Run time is a no brainer , what I’d like to ask is the battery kombi head unit , what is the speed of the hedge cutting blades , compared to the hedger in this vid ? For me I think it will more cost effective to go the kombi head route , just not if the cutting speed or run time is less ?
As far as I am aware, the cutter speed and battery runtime would be the same. The KMA would definitely be a cost effective option - a great selection of attachments in the Kombi range. 🤣 I definitely need to work on that Aussie accent. Thank you for watching 👍
Sharpening the blades is very easy - can either be done with a flat file or a small grinder - I will try and make a video soon. Stihl GB have a video on sharpening over on their RUclips channel.

I've used an electric B & D trimmer for years. It's been a workhorse but I no longer am, and wanted to make my job easier. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG Around the corners, the small side yard etc. was a pain to run the cord out to, so I bought this thinking I'd use it for touch-ups and hard to reach places. Well, I haven't used the corded one since! This is so light weight and so much easier. It has all the power I need because I start wearing down after about 20 minutes and I haven't run out of battery yet. It takes about two hours to charge. I've used it about twice a week for a month and still have line left too. My favorite feature is the blade inside the shield that keeps the line trim to where I don't even have to think about it. You can see from my pic that it's been heavily used and I probably should clean it more often. Very happy with it.
@@TheFullyChargedGardener of course, but they are very similar in the length, i want a trimmer, which i can trim bushes, just normal hedges and so on, like the one that you trim in the start of the video

Unfortunately all 135 series is much heavier than the corresponding pro battery series.
What's the purpose of having slower speeds ? Consuming less energy or producing less noise ?
It is mainly to conserve battery. Often when trimming less dense hedges there is no need to be using full power.
