    I've had the Kombi system for ~15 years. I love it. Have all the attachments I need. I know this electric stuff is becoming more prevalent and I will cross over eventually. I like Stihl for the quality and now not leaving past customers holding the bag with an entirely different attachment system.

    I went full Stihl electric 1 year ago have to say i miss the smell of split petrol in my van, the noise and air pollution, the bone shaking vibrations, yanking the the cord every time I want to restart my engine, the spare part costs and getting anally probed by my local Stihl dealer every year for a service. Plus you no longer have to pay for two stroke mix and petrol because you can charge at your clients🤪

    I've got the older stihl fsa 130r and hla65 . Both have had 12months commercial use and they are still working perfectly. Granted the battery cable on the back pac can be annoying at times when it catches on a branch but still prefer it to my older noisy petrol tools. The low noise , zero fumes, zero servicing and reduction in fuel costs are fantastic. I will never go back to petrol.

    I have one of these and I like it generally. However, there’s no trigger lock which is really helpful to keep it running like on the 130. Also, every single tool needs a replaceable rubber base so it protects the unit from drops, scuffs and moisture. Other than that I quite enjoy using it. I’ve got two 500S batteries and the four port charger. A big investment and I’ll certainly look forward to getting the chainsaw hen possible as I’m sick of messing with small engines.

  • @diogenesegarden5152
    @diogenesegarden5152 Год назад

    I am looking at moving over to a Stihl battery setup for my gardening service. I currently run a petrol Combi system, so it’s great to know that the tools all fit and I don’t have to splash out on a new set. I use the combi system as I can break it down and put it in the back of my Polo (and trailer for the mower and cuttings) and I don’t have to deal with several motor units. I also have an MS 170 chainsaw which I would like to upgrade. I’m very happy with both. I take it the batteries are interchangeable between chainsaw and combi as it would give me more options during the working day depending on what work I am doing? My only beef with battery stuff is that you can loose the whole battery pack even if only one cell is damaged. For me it would be a game changer if the individual cells could be removed and replaced, both for my pocket and the environment (as these lithium batteries aren’t as environmentally benign as we are led to believe).
    I would be interested to hear about the long term robustness of these battery systems also, as my Stihl tools have performed without fault now for quite a few years. My main issue with the combi up till now has been the shredding of the Tommy screws that clamp the head to the tool. I generally keep a couple in the car, but am afraid to over-tighten them so sometimes the head comes free, especially when strimming.

      It has a stroke rate of 4000rpm. It leaves a beaut finish.

    Finally, I got one of these in my hand today in Australia, The sales lady sent most of the time talking me out of it, it seems very heavy n unbalanced but the mid range petrol is what she was pushing me to buy seemed lighter and more balanced.

    • @TheFullyChargedGardener
      @TheFullyChargedGardener  2 года назад

      The balance of the machine will obviously depend on the battery you use and also depend on the attachment you are using. Another key thing to highlight are the other benefits with the battery machine, less noise, no fumes.
      It all comes down to personal preference. But I would definitely choose the battery machine 😀

    • @Later2u
      @Later2u 2 года назад +1

      The articulating hedger is the most heavy attachment I have, even with the gas engine. Just the nature of the beast. All other attachments are fine.

  • @ko6128
    @ko6128 3 года назад +2

    But how long until the battery is no longer chargeable or is significantly reduced in output power? We gotta buy a new battery in 7 years ? 10 years ? Will the new battery fit ?

    • @TheFullyChargedGardener
      @TheFullyChargedGardener  3 года назад

      Stihl pro batteries can be charged about 1200 times.
      Obviously battery cells don’t last forever - But how long does a tank of fuel last in a strimmer?
      Then there are the significant benefits to the operator - less noise, no fumes, less vibration.

    This is nice. I use an old FS85 based Kombi set. I can't remember the exact model off the top of my head, but it's an oldie. My grandfather bought it back in the 90s and passed it down to me when he passed away. Apparently, it was made before they actually adopted the name, because it doesn't actually bear the "KM" in the model. The folks at the shop were tripping when they saw it thinking it was some kind of custom deal. I got a pruning attachment for it after the May 2019 twister in my area, and that engine runs it wonderfully. The attachments it came with should work with the newer stuff, so I might look into this powerhead in the future.

    Interesting video. Could you help us understand runtimes? I just ran my KM-131R for an hour and emptied its tank with a brush cutter. Constant high load cutting through thick grass, weeds and bramble. You need all the power of the 131 for this and it runs very hot. I was also physically tired.
    How long could I expect to run with an AP300 battery? Is it just for 15 minute runtimes at high load or could it run for an hour at high load before depleting the battery?

    • @TheFullyChargedGardener

      Hi, I have put a link in the description that will take you to a runtime chart, this will give you an idea of the runtimes you can expect from different battery and tool combinations.

    I bought this and to be honest stihl dropped the ball on this one. I ran it with the string trimmer attachment with the AP300 battery for my lawncare business and the battery life is unacceptable. It lasted a total of 18 min on max speed. For my business I would need 7 to 10 batteries to get through the day.

      @@TheFullyChargedGardener I took it back yesterday and got a 111r. It gets really hot in the southern US and I can’t see adding extra weight to my body when the heat index is over 100c. I was really excited about this Kombi but it needs to be able to run for at least 45 min without the backpack or not that many people are going to be willing to switch over from gas. Thanks for the response.

      I have the kma 135r trimmer snd can get 9 lawns out of the 300s battery. I also have the ap180 battery for my chainsaw and it got 4 lawns done with 1 bar left. It was ran on low as you rarely need full power trimming around a house. I use black diamond line and it cuts like a razer on low. I will keep my 94r as a backup. Going to get he kma 135r kombi head to replace my 132r gas kombi. I have a ton of attachments already.

    Great vid mate, have you seen they offer 60cm hedge cutter attachments now? what length would you recommend? I’m used to the 50cm bar on me HLA65 but its always tempting to go bigger, even with the option of a extension pole.. !

    • @TheFullyChargedGardener

      Hi, The extra length will add a small amount of extra weight, so that is worth factoring into your decision. If you cut lots of wide hedges, then that little extra could come in handy.

    I don't get it with Stihl. Previous model, KM131R, needed a cord and a battery pack of choice. Now they're putting the battery in the unit. Whilst their latest BGA200 blower recently released also needs a cord. Time to make up their mind at Stihl. Who wants to switch all the time to belt or backpack battery pack or battery in the unit?
    I've got a complete battery setup with 6 AP300S batteries, and have to admit, runtime is great, noise level is of a different kind, maintenance is non existent and power is more than sufficient.

    • @TheFullyChargedGardener
      @TheFullyChargedGardener  3 года назад

      I suppose with the blowers it is down to space? to have a large capacity fan, with a battery chamber in the unit too - there is the potential for the unit to be a bit cumbersome?
      it is certainly very interesting to see how the battery machines are developing.

    I like both I think petrol is great for running all day, power & momentum. Also I feel less tired after petrol because it works faster & harder due to heavier flywheel. Batteries are better for smaller jobs where run time & heavy duty power is not required. Petrol does require more maintenance air filter, fuel filter & E10 eating carburettor diaphragms & fuel tubes. However the battery unit may have low maintenance, it is the batteries them self’s where the reliability issues happen. When there new there great however after time & work load they deteriorate in run time & power. I can repair engines but have no clue how to restore a battery.

    My big concern is with the weight, i primarely use my kombi for hedge cutting, seems like it would total around 7 kg..
    How does the 135 with hedgecutter and 300s compare to the hla 66?

    • @TheFullyChargedGardener
      @TheFullyChargedGardener  3 года назад

      So the unit with the hedgcutter attachment (without battery) weights in at around 5.6kg - This is heavier that the HLA66 as the 135 has a shaft and gearbox - Where as the 66 has the Moyer directly at the cutter head.
