10 days back I was travelling from Shanghai to Nanchang by the High Speed train. Really it's like travelling in a plane including luggage scan, passport checking etc. Attitude of chinese people is also amazing. They follow the queue system always. Superb.
Note: Business class is more expensive than first, unlike Airlines. I have traveled Shanghai Beijing and business class is amazing and was empty. You can order food from restaurant using app and they will deliver at next station. Also, train has wifi. Super quiet and value for money is good. No need to travel business actually - train is clean in almost all classes and new.
There is a joke about love, you can't wait for a airplane in a train station. Today, Shanghai Hongqiao train station are sit next to the HongQiao airport. So we can get what we loved? Lol
As a Chinese, I do not really like those enormous stations. Most of them are built outside the city, serviced as long-distance transportation but did not consider the regional commute. Those are because not a lot of cities were not likely to form a metropolitan area when the bullet train system was first been designed... Actually, cities change really quick in China in recent years, I would more like to have a smaller station but in the city centre.

Really? I've never flown from any Indian airports and if so then India has a long way to go in terms of infrastructure as airports are normally the showpiece infrastructure projects of any country.
I took a bullet train once from Shanghai airport to my hotel 35km away. The ride was super quiet and smooth. I did not feel the train moving although i saw the speed reader at 375km. That was more than 10 years ago.

I went there last year with family, traveled to six different cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Shanto, Xian, and back to Beijing) with first class bullet train and airplane. I love the bullet train so much. it more comfort and punctual. Actually it is more expensive to travel by bullet train than by airplane. You can get discount for kids by plane, but not bullet train. I love the bullet train, the maglev train. The country transform so much, so quick. I remembered, I went there the first time in 1999. It was like this. But now, OMG!! so modern, so futuristic.
Shows Chinese have taken their lives seriously and very diligent in progress. Only hard work would have achieved this. Good to see my neighbors have managed to work at major issues that plague infrastructure devp.

In my opinion of China HSR, you either take second class or business class. No point in spending 2x the price of 2nd to go to 1st since the seat is only about 20% wider and 10% more foot room.
The best part about chinese hsr business class is lack of announcements that is constantly played on the loop. The best part of first class is usually crowd is more civilized. Second class is great for budget traveling but can be very noisy.

Compared to 20-30 years ago, the living standard and overall infrastructure of China have improved tremendously. Most Chinese people are proud of the achievement of their Government. This is a relatively safe country to live in.

I traveled with a train, called 复兴号 (fuxing hao). Very quick, 30 minutes from kowloon to guang Zhou.

I've been on the TGV in France and the Italian high-speed train. It is also the most comfortable high-speed rail in China, although the French TGV is more luxurious. Italy's most uncomfortable

Haven't been on first class bullet train yet. I would like to try.
In my opinion of China HSR, you either take second class or business class. No point in spending 2x the price of 2nd to go to 1st since the seat is only about 20% wider and 10% more foot room.

The best part about chinese hsr business class is lack of announcements that is constantly played on the loop. The best part of first class is usually crowd is more civilized. Second class is great for budget traveling but can be very noisy.
