    The Gocycle is definitely an icon. i bought it (second hand) as a collector item, but now i use it quiet often. As you can put it on 15,5 mph instead of 25kmh here in Euroland that's a real bonus! Mrsp is high but wait 'till you get to the servicing and spare parts... On 15,5 no way you'll get to 50miles, i'm saving to buy a new batt ! i hope the GXi model is a bit bigger. The new model tires with $pecial compound are really/maybe worth it

    I'm in the market at the moment for a small wheeled electric folder (like these). (I'm a Brompton owner and fan by the way). I'd say that bang for the buck-wise, in the terrain I need it for (mixed with step hills) the Mirider GB3 has it cornered. Love the tech and style of the Gocycle though.

    Range - all of these bikes have infinite range, you just keep pedalling. My point is that the only valid range statement from an e-bike manufacturer would be the range without pedalling. Otherwise you can quote any number you like and nobody can argue with it. As for the £5k bike - its a good thing it folds as you wouldn't want to leave it on the street where somebody could chop the chain and ride off with it.

Much better than a Brompton I tested a week before (twice the price too, ouch!!) and a Foldable Raleigh I tested on the same day as the MiRider. Do I have 3-4k to spend on a bike? Absolutely not which makes the MiRider such awesome value.

    I bought a Gocycle second hand as I liked the look and design, still find it annoying not to have a bike display and am expected to use my mobile for that purpose. :( A missed opportunity to include regen to improve range and yes no visual indication for on/off status! Fun to ride but very expensive new as are all Gocycle accessories like lights or a rear rack, the older models do have a boost button of sorts thats there for the american market!

    These bikes are great if you can warrant spending that kind of money but I have a Fiido D4S which I know hasn't got rear suspension but other than that is comparible to the MiRider 1 in terms of range, having a throttle to get you going and small folded size but has the bigger wheels for greater stability. I understand it may not be as long lasting but it cost slightly over a third of the price so I could lose it and buy another and still have money left over and that is the cheapest of these four. My Super 73 S2 which is a big, fast, comfortable and long range bike wouldn't even be the most expensive here.

    • @ianbrown5873

      If Gocycle is set for European law in the app the throttle works but you have to be pedalling at the same time, you get motor assist up to 15.5 mph. If it is set for North America in the app you get motor assist up to 20mph and full use of throttle without having to pedal, but uses maximum battery.

    Presenter didn’t mention the location of the motor (front, rear or mid) which makes a huge difference how an E-bike rides, and how gears affect that performance. • @ianbrown5873
      @ianbrown5873 Год назад

      You can go faster than 15.5mph but motor assistance cuts out at that speed. It is limited due to European law, “For safety reasons”. They say that if you want something faster get a moped where you have to do a test, road tax it and insure it. When setting up a Gocycle you actually get the option to set it up with USA setting which gives motor assistance up to 20mph and full throttle control where you don’t need to pedal. I set mine to American setting and it makes a difference. I have never heard of anyone being convicted but was told if you have an accident and it was investigated you wouldn’t have a leg to stand on.

      In my case at the time, I couldn't find a bike with everything I needed (relatively light, so I can take it up the stairs to my apartment, foldable so I can bring into my car, and with a decent amount of power). The used Gocycle was the closest I could get for a good price.

    You missed two important details in your comparison. The problem with the MiRider is that it does not have "puncture resistant" tires. (it does have a self-sealing inner-tube, but that is a lame substitution because one the inner tube is punctured it's already a bit late.. the self sealant doesnt' always work.. so much better to just use a serious puncture resistant tire instead. especially with something like an ebike where bike shops may not have the right size inner-tubes in stock. -and the problem with the GoCycle is that the "bluetooth" is ALWAYS turned on. (unless you turn the bike off completely. This means that the Gocycle is beaming radiation into your body the entire time you are using it, whether U have your phone attached to it or not. (The health consequences of "Blue-tooth" radiation are known to be worse than other forms of EMF radiation in case U didn't know that.) 5G is probably worse, but with the exception of 5G, blue-tooth radiation is not something that health -conscious people, (or energetically sensitive people) do not want to have anything to do with. -Anyway these are both deal-breaking flaws in each of the bikes and needed to be mentioned.
