If they took even longer than his prediction, Sholmes can just interject with a "Ah, before we continue, I may need to fix something" and gone to disarm it. Also, the amount of time was supposedly enough to outrun an explosion that can level a building, from inside a room that requires going up a flight of stairs to leave. Given how extreme an explosion like that would have to be, Drebber would have had to set a very lenient time limit, so Sholmes could have, again, looked at the timer and assumed they'll be fine for a while. Not to mention, Sholmes knew of Drebber's character - he's not the type to murder unprompted, so he knew they had no intention of causing harm to anything other than the building itself with that explosion. So he knew he has time. Was this a good thing for Sholmes to do? Absolutely not, but then, he's not always a morally correct character. He likely inflicted some long-term harm to Naruhodo through his earlier plan, even - thinking Kazuma is dead, learning everything about a foreign legal system in a month, going up against the Reaper of the Bailey... Naruhodo obviously felt betrayed after that, and was upset that he wasn't informed of thiis for over a year, but Sholmes felt that this was the correct move at the time, and so he did it. He ultimately did the right thing, even if he took potentially the worst route to get there.
Personally I think he always was using them. Whenever Ryunosuke corrects him, he never flounders or stumbles. He always corrects his logic immediately and flawlessly, and is able to follow Ryunosuke's train of thought perfectly even though it's directly at odds with whatever outlandish claim he's made. He's been playing games this whole time, and it's only now when this theme plays and there's an extremely limited amount of time with which to act that he says there's "no time for games".
Which is unfortunate considering he's perfectly willing to pretend he's an idiot even when everyone is at risk of being blown up by a bomb and he's perfectly aware of that fact. Gregson may have plotted criminal assassinations, but at least he didn't pull shit like that.

I am really fond if this kind of commentary on the creation of their work. I wish they would do this with every art book that is added to collector's editions and such, but unfortunately more often than not they really are just collections of sketches.

I liked the touch that Holme's partner actually ended up being not that guy who was expected, and it sort of fit because of the mustache. So unexpected really; especially with that subtle hinting that the other guy from the 1st case was actually Dr. H. Watson the whole time.
Honestly being told to compose something and coming up with all this is genius. I haven't even heard much resemblance, like they may have copied something but I doubt it.
Seriously one of the greatest moments in the entire franchise. You finally get to see Sholmes doing what he does best. No goofing off, just his true genius mind at work. Not to mention Yujin's exquisite tap dancing as well. Add that plus this incredible music, so good!

He literally says "No more games". in the final deduction, Holmes had already figured everything out before Mikotoba could say a single word, that's why he often says "You should see it by now" or "I'll leave this one to you"

Can we all agree that Case 5 and this Final Deduction proves that all the other funny and stupid deductions by Holmes where just his way to test Ryunosuke's resolve? To test if he has the strength to never falter when pursuing the truth? And in this final case, he finally accepted Ryunosuke's and stopped testing him? Because boy oh boy, does that make Holmes a much MUCH more interesting character.
Yeap, especially in Ryu's final deduction, Shomes admitted that he has learned the art of deduction. And since then he has began treating Ryu more seriously than before. Even before the court is in session, he said that behind Ryu's genius is his own.

This scene is so iconic, the only thing that I can pick on is that I wish it is a more complicated problem so that we can get to see Holmes and his true partner solving difficult mysteries like it is nothing.
@@kd0079 that's certainly possible. Holmes very well could have been trying to train Naruhodu throughout their journey. Also he managed to solve other cases by himself. But he is certainly goofy, so I won't be surprised that he did in fact make wrong deductions
I like that this song seems to be in 8/8 time when the rest of the dance of deduction songs were in 7/8. It really adds to the finality of this part of the game

It's a damn shame he never appears as his younger version in-game, probably because they didn't feel like creating an entire 3D model for the few times it would be appropriate(him talking to Genshin for example). Also, that tap dance was fuckin fire xD
I honestly set that as my headcanon. I see Yujin without mustache 16 years ago, but 6 years later, he grows it, just as it looks right now. So, right, when student exchange happened, he was without it, but during those 6 years he got it.
Genuinely one of the best twists in anything ever to me. Why on Earth would we ever question Holmes and Watson? Thats how it always is. It's an adaptation of an existing work that's always like this. Then, when the twist is revealed, you go back in your mind and begin to notice all the details that didn't line up but you excused, and when you input the new revelation, it all lines up. So incredible.
I doubt they had the budget for that, but it would’ve mave for a truly glamorous experience. But also the final pursuit theme wouldn’t have a purpose anymore

Let's be honest, we all did think that Sholmes is a general comic relief of those two games... just until this epic music starts to play, and you read "No games now." It's a moment you realize that Sholmes was only acting like a smart idiot, never really using his true deductive abilities for the sake of Ryunosuke development as an ace attorney. But now that the time is limited and stakes are very high he gets free with his genius mind and together with his partner gives a perfect deduction. But if you really can observe, you could notice Sholmes' hidden genius earlier. In all his dances of logic he was making 'mistakes', but as soon as Ryunosuke fixed them Sholmes was right away giving 100% correct conclusions, as if he figured it all out earlier. Really, he is my favorite character in the whole AA series.
I would love a game about Sholmes and Yujin 10 years ago in the style of the investigations games. Like Yujin Mikotoba: The Great Ace Attorney - Investigations or Herlock Sholmes: The Great Ace Attorney - Investigations. (I know neither are lawyers but its part of the Ace Attorney franchise).
