Ichiro Goes Back to His Roots in First Task as Akio’s Special Assistant｜Toyotatimes

With Ichiro being appointed Special Assistant to Chairman Akio Toyoda, we followed the pair on a unique day that built on their long-standing friendship.
Ichiro’s first assignment was a journey retracing his roots, taking in the field and batting center where he practiced as a grade-schooler. Akio shared in stories from Ichiro’s childhood and the mindset that continues to guide him today. At one point in the video, as Ichiro hits ground balls for Akio to field, they can be heard shouting like spirited schoolboys.
The trip back to Ichiro’s origins was taken in a new Century, with full commentary by Chairman Toyoda, Toyota’s master driver and master passenger.
