    Actually, it’s a catalytic reaction between precious metals in the glow plug and the nitro fuel and once it’s up to temperature the catalytic reaction keeps it glowing 👍

    Very concise description of the difference between nitro and petrol🤓👍,I didn't realise how similar diesel engine running is to nitro🤔🤯

    I drive a 29.1cc reed engine in my FG Marder, Modellsport Italia (General Import for Zenoah in Italy with racing cylinders) on a reed housing from DSM V2, unfortunately not the best quality, OBR is the best, but of course slightly differently geared, different differential, different drive shafts, Samba Reso welded for 30 cc with parts from Losi 5ive-T VRC Pipe cut and adapted...I Love ❤️

    Pretty sure the nitro glow plug enables the engine to continue running due to the catalytic reaction between the platinum and methanol while under compression. I don't think it actually continues to glow to ignite the fuel, hence when glow plugs still glow, but the engine dies when you take the electric way the "bad" glow plug has used all the platinum coating or it is too dirty for it to enable the reaction.

      the plug does continue to glow, not as bright without a battery but it keeps the heat in the combustion chamber.

    • @tandb
      @tandb 12 дней назад

      @theclubhouse1209 I think that is speculation as no one has ever seen it. There are videos online with see through heads but you still can't see the filament from that angle. Either way the engine will not run without the platinum plating on the filament.

      @@tandb Each combustion keeps the glow plug filament hot, which along with the catalysis of methanol oxidation by the platinum, allows the ignition of the next charge in a self-sustaining power cycle.

    i have a kyosho Gx-15 and i’m unsure what side the piston goes on. does the longer side of the piston face the exhaust???

    2 stroke diesel manufacturers off the top:
    Detroit
    Napier
    Commer
    Vickers
    MAN
    Sutlzer
    EMD
    Arens
    Most are industrial and/or marine and a few no longer in business, but there are absolutely many active 2 stroke diesel engine manufacturers today.

    yeah man love nitro more then 2stroke , but got to say the 2stroke is less of hassel when it comes to tunning set it once and leave it , for nitro it diffrent to get it running good you have to tune it every time not muts and not hard to do . but you get a lot more fun out of it high revs the power
    the high end tech of nitro gives it a exstra layer in the rc hobby 👍😉

    This is probably a dumb question but what is bdc and how can you ensure the engine is brought down to bdc. Like how would you tell the piston's not already down after running?

    • @HaggardRC
      @HaggardRC  11 дней назад +1

      BDC = Bottom Dead Centre.
      You’ll know being it’s after the compression so turn the engine until it goes past TDC = Top Dead Centre (compression) then it’ll go easy… that’s good enough.

    Here are the differences between the 2 in the UK. Anyone not into RC and who live near where ic cars are run HATE ic, full stop. Too noisy and in most cases used by yobs. Electric cars are more suitable in the UK due to lack of space, sorry but it's true. Even aircraft clubs are loosing grounds due to noise, where is the last boating pond you see for ic or ekec boats, RC is on its last feet

      That’s a very negative outlook 🙀
      Where I am I don’t have any issues with Nitro or Petrol, space is indeed few and far between in England but I find the parks and fields are still big enough to share. I get the odd groundsman have a little moan but once I’ve befriended him and talked about something he’s interested in for a while the problem goes way.

      @@HaggardRC to be fair whatever you do someone will hate it and complain. I don't run near houses so people can walk away. Never had a complaint myself.

      Have you seen how much countryside we have? 😂 I fire mine up near houses and noboby has ever moaned. Nitro's are only really noisey if you are stood up close to them, if you send a little ways from you it's much quieter. In the summer, every man and his dog are using mowers or strimming so nobody pays much attention to the noise really and in the winter their windows are all closed so they can't hear it then either!
