    I was always bewildered about how strong the Hercules Beetle is. The ability to lift 850 TIMES YOUR BODY WEIGHT, DAMN! If the average man was that strong, they would be able to lift around 82 tons. Now that is impressive.

    Praying Mantises are my favorite insect. If you ever find one just take a moment to look at it. They are fascinating. They also have quite a personality. Another fascinating insect is the walking stick. Just pick it up and put it in a branch or on a stick and it'll disappear. Makes me laugh every time.

      1 inch actually equals 2.54 centimeters. If you only do "inches x2 = centimeters" you will have a noticeable amount of error in your conversions.

    Yes many beetles are gentle. I have pet beetles too and they are very curious and gentle. The biggest threat is them not letting go of your hand if they think its cozy enough to have a nap

    2 cool facts: The Hurculies beetle is the model for the gen 2 pokemon Heracross and the Atlas moth is one of the many bugs to be featured in the popular Nintendo franchise, Animal Crossing.

    The Luna moth is also pretty huge. I've only seen one in person once when I lived in Florida and I was amazed by its size. At the time I had no idea what it was I have to look it up lol. I actually thought it was a bird.

      I spent time in Thailand and Malaysia. I swear the bugs over there are like mutant sized. When you see spiders big enough to catch birds and centipedes about a foot long, I was like "Aw, fuck this....."

      Miljan Kostadinovic Yeah, that's true, but a Ducthman named Mercator thought he held the Earth on his shoulders...that the common reason given for why "atlases" are called "atlases." (However, there was also a Maritian king called Atlas whom Mercator credied as being the first geographer.)

    Texas has so many walking sticks. The biggest I found was a little over a foot. It’s always terrifying when you reach for your car door and see one hanging on the mirrors

    Theres titan beetles in las vegas, lived there my whole life and when they brought in foreign fruit trees kissing bugs, and titan beetles came with em camel spiders and deathstalker scorpions, find em all the time when i do landscape work

      The world does not revolve around you. They use Imperial because they want to. Some people find it easier. And thanks to Britain, they introduced the Imperial system to the US, which is still widely used today.

    Whenever I watch videos of insects I always feel things crawling on me that aren't there. I also get freaked out by anything that looks remotely like an insect and go in a state of hyperalertness/paranoia. 😥😅
