@liaselle3385 I think it’s logical because they do spend a lot of money on trainees as well. I don’t think they immediately dismiss trainees that don’t do well. Don’t they do multiple evaluations in a year to see the progress of trainees? I guess if a trainee is not improving after multiple evals then that’s when they drop them? Correct me if I’m wrong though 😅
JYP’s thing is pretty logical in my opinion. Would you keep your trainee under your company for years on end just to let them down after them training for 4+ years? If they don’t see enough potential or improvement it’s better for the company to not invest and better for the trainees mental health to not have false hope. For me personally, I’d rather get cut off by JYP one year into training with them rather than having them wait to watch my skills improve or to see my potential just to cut me off after giving me false hope.
JYPe kicking out people easily is probably because they don't have trainee debt, they can't afford into spending money on someone who's not making the expected progress, they want someone who learns fast or that has a bit of training already, cheaper on the agency, cheaper for the idol as well. If it's like that it's really logic and convenient for both sides
@@llae27 Not sure now. But back then during 2pm era, they have debt system. That Jaypark case also. Sm is the only one known company that's absolutely didn't implement debt system. Yg and hybe unknown.
With HYBE, actually I don't believe that they have less training with the trainees. Sakura said that only with HYBE, she had proper training most especially with her voice. Kazuha also trained most especially in dancing because she practiced almost all of her life in ballet. She needs to train modern dance that is why HYBE sent a dancer trainer to her. Another thing, they have a hard evaluation. So I believe that they do have trainers in those categories.
i think thats for trainee who hasn't been fixed into any group yet. maybe to let them find their own style and colors before grouping them all together to give them the proper training that would actually match and work for them later. i think its way better than shaping them all into the same colors which would be a shame. like maybe they also want more determined trainees because that would be a waste spending the resources on kids that doesnt really know what theyre getting into and just do it for the sake of it, not because thats genuinely what they dreamed and wanted for

Sm's lead to perfection has ruined so many idols. I am not saying that plastic surgery is bad but if it is against the wish of the person and pressuring then that's bad. But what can we do, thus industry is heavily dependent on visual > talent. I wish that kpop Stans didn't pressurise the idols as well upon their beauty, y'all are the reason of the cause.
I mean, it's SM. They are known everywhere for their obsession with appearance. If I had a euro for every SM idol who said they debuted because a random staff approached them on the street and offered them a place to debut, I would have enough money to buy Twitter from Elon Musk.

The commenter is saying that SM told Eunhyuk not to do surgery, because he would have to get multiple since changing one part on his face would throw off the rest
Being a trainee in JYPe is a pathway to be successful as a lot of successful artists and idols were once a trainee under JYPe or even debuted in JYP such as Hyuna, Jay Park & Somi
YG is very picky about debuting the trainee. Promising doesn't mean you debut if you are not improving. They pick the most talented one that deserved to be debuted. You know that YG paid the most salary to their idol so debuting the talented one is the key for the group to be successful and worth paid.
You can say whatever you want about the big 4 but something they do offer their trainees is immediate and I mean IMMEDIATE popularity and success. It is almost impossible for groups that com from the big 4 to fail . The difference about debuting in a smaller label/company with a the big 4 is that you get fame and exposure even before debuting. The members from Baby monster ,a group from YG that hasn’t even debuted yet, have already a lot of fan accounts and the group is already being overhyped because it comes from YG. Groups like NMIXX, Le Sserafim, ITZY and others had a massive debut success while other groups from smaller companies celebrate getting their debut song to a million views. If you debut with the big 4 you have guaranteed success while if you debut with a smaller company you will be lucky that your label is not thinking about disbandment after the first year.
*you can ignore this reply* true but over the terrible standards, I don’t think it’s fair if your gonna stay there unhappy and pressured. I mean it’s not even that easy to debut with those companies in the first place. also this is slightly unrelated but the more popular the more haters and pressure you get. also you can get spotted by fans most of the time and can barely have some peace….
And look at new jeans, unlike other gps nwjns had no introduction whatsoever and dropped straight to their debut, look at their popularity now- I'm not just saying they got popular only bc of the company
@@my.meIody the thing is that you think smaller groups aren’t pressured. They are the ones that are pressured the most by their companies in order to make money out of them. They are constantly thinking about disbandment and have to drop WAY MORE MUSIC and have WAY MORE COMEBACKS than big groups. Just look at P1Harmony … a group that comes from a smaller company and debuted like 2 years ago. They debuted 2 years ago yet I am pretty sure they have more songs than blackpink does and last year they had like 3 comebacks with like two tours in between comebacks. I am not saying it is easy for idols that debut on big companies … I am saying they get immediate recognition and fame without even needing to drop a song while smaller groups can consistently drop bangers and never get that recognition they deserve because their company can’t offer them that level of exposure.
Hybe one is pretty cool I think-they just want to have talented trainees, not crap or something. In this way they can check, who has potential and true skills.
That's not the right way actually. The reason why you have training is to instill them with a solid foundation of their technique. The biggest problem in kpop always has been their idols actually lack foundation in dancing, singing and rapping. It's like you went to school but the teachers refused to teach you, and expect you to learn all by yourself. Dance class etc aren't cheap at all if they want to afford it on their own.

If you watch I-Land, you know how Bang Sihyuk asked Rain and Zico to not only look at the skills that the trainees have but to look more at the potential they have. So, it's not true that you have to be very talented in the first place to be their trainee. They see potential in you, whether you are able to develop further or not. Moa and Engene might know how Yeonjun and Heeseung said that when they entered Bighit, their dance skills were below the other trainees, yet a few years later they became the most multitalented trainees and dance prodigy. I would say that Hybe is more of a perfectionist in evaluation. When we think their performance is already good but their trainer feels they can do more than that, then they will be criticized. That way trainees know they can keep pushing and expand the potential they have, which ends up creating a lot of all-rounders.
also trainee A showed how strict they are about trainees training and how hard they need to work and how many possibilities they have. at least big hit. they send their trainees to usa for dance lessons and basking in the streets, they have to learn to produce their own songs and sing them while dancing. l idk i think what is written in the video is what the author thinks or maybe it’s true only for other sub labels.
But yg do cover all of the trainees expenses tho😂, they doesn’t even have any debt when they leave n just need to move on and find a better place that can accept them for who they are
You made it like SM the worst among the others about this. SM never forced their trainees to do plastic surgery. Haechan said that he wasn’t allowed to get plastic surgery and denied having it. A member of Super Junior also denied plastic surgery rumors except heechul for his nose bcs an accident and kyuhyun for his double eyelids. Eunhyuk said SM forbade him tho. SM never forced seulgi to get ps bcs her monolid eyes.
Remember how Bang PD developed BTS? He doesn't specify what time they go to practice, how long they practice. They are free to live their life and practice whatever, whenever. That's why BTS is very versatile and extremely authentic. BHE & HYBE saw what that does to BTS, they want to allow others under them to experience the same.
SM probably will not do that again, But people often forgot that only SM have idols like shindong n amber. Not even smaller company do that, even back then, or even if they do they made it a hard publicity then end up doing badly. yeah, it is really great to not train and not give minimal help to a fragile person, a minor mostly, who is developing his/her mind and starting growing up, not educating them. it doesn’t influence their way of thinking at all, the fact that they don’t give a ruck and just want them to be a money machine

Go to a therapist instead! For Hybe to want them to actually be artistic which implies you not only copy but actually create, that is a good thing. You act like they don't give training at all, which is obviously not the case.
Yeah what I was thinking. Kpop focuses a lot on visuals rather than talent. Most companies look for visuals, because they think the 'talent' can be trained. So I'm actually glad Hybe works this way, because they focus more on talent and creating good music. From the very beginning, Bighit's artists have been given a lot of creative freedom in music and expressing themselves (the things that music should actually be about). It's good to see groups like New Jeans and TXT also taking part in creating music. And the people that are chosen to get debuted actually do get a very hard training. To me it just feels less fabricated this way and like you're a robot trained to be like everyone else. Those idols are just trained to be money makers for their company.
@randomluv he was the ceo of hybe, and a current chairman in the board, I think bang pd had a big influence on what the corporation's culture and subsequent companies should focus on, the video generalized trainees experience when there's many companies under hybe. So at least where bang pd is involved under hybe, he looks for potential, trainees also have a lot of lessons avaliable to them before they debute which I think would mean they care about building up their trainees
@@CaroCaro7517 Yeah, but that was 10 years ago. Things have changed a lot. Even back then people still saw groups like 2NE1, BTS and Mamamoo as anomalies who "beat the odds despite not fitting beauty standards due to exceptional talent" rather than the standard for how all groups should be. It's even more difficult to enter the industry now if you are super talented but don't fit the beauty standards, because there is a higher focus on visuals and everyone lipsyncs 😂
Sm one is tricky because I feel like so many idosl would've left if the pressure was that hard. And SM must be doing something right because most if the groups they have created are still running today
This one is tricky tho bc in some of those groups, either one or two members have left the group or kicked out or been replaced, and others have left SM and went to diff label but still do group activities bc their group is still under SM. Then some groups under them tho haven't explicitly said they disbanded but not active as a group altho flourishing in their solo careers.
No I’ve seen many Korean online say that they get brainwashed into wanting plastic surgery themselves due to not feeling good enough and better opportunities
The fact that none of the comments think of YG training system as comfortably livable proves how difficult it is to train under yg..... that's why I love the artists who make it so much
for SM, yes PHYSICAL APPEAREANCE is a MUST for them BUT YOU CANT DEBUT without those POTENTIAL that they are looking for - you must be a TALENTED trainee. as you can see, those groups who already debuted are really successful (as well individually) because of their TALENT - they even have works outside their job being an idol. but i dont really agree with that sm would really really force their trainees to get PS or else they wont debut, because as eunhyuk said, the company asked him to get PS but he declined it and look at him now, a very talented one. so yeah, all sm groups are really beautiful and good looking naturally.
AND ALSO, A LOT OF SM TRAINEES ARE REALLY REALLY GOOD LOOKING AND BEAUTIFUL PLUS TALENTED ONES (ex. smrookies) but up until now, THEY HAVENT DEBUTED YET - not even sure if they will still debut. :)
SM never force their trainees to do plastic surgeries. lots of SM well known former trainees already said it. they said that SM did get doctor and gave input about surgery, but the decision is on the trainees' hand. Seulgi even said it too, but she didn't want to do it. So she didn't until now. Eunhyuk also explained that he wanted to have surgery, but SM said that it's better if he didn't do it. So, no, they didn't force it. Also, SM didn't have DEBT system for their trainees like other agencies, so the trainees basically pays 0 during training and after debut; and still get accommodations, and whenever a new group will debut, they have their own Produce 101 among their trainees. it's almost impossible to expect SM to sent personal trainers/teacher for the dozens, maybe thousand trainees they had like hybe did lol. also that other companies have their trainees in DEBT, the company will pay everything, but it's going to be added as the trainees' debt which they had to pay after debut, the artists won't received the full amount of salary before their debt is cleared; some didn't get paid at all until it was cleared. until now, there's no known companies who didn't implement debting system other than SM. YG is unknown, and JYP still have debt system at least until 2pm/miss a era and it's not known whether they still did or not. like 2pm still have debt back then when Jay Park left 2pm. it was known by people then that if he voluntarily left the group, the company would remove his debt, Also whenever SM trainees wanted to leave or being eliminated, they gave recommendation letters to the other companies, so they didn't leave with nothing and can join other agencies right away, even without any audition (depends on the agency's policy); whether it's idol agency or acting agency. for example: Soyeon (ex t-ara), raina (after school), they got recommendations from SM and able to join new agency, and got into the debut line-up right away. there are a lot of similar cases for example from other agencies too. google it!
I think the sm criticism makes no sense when all big 3 have made their idols get plastic surgery. And if you look at gidle and wjsn and ive (I swear only examples because I see their faces all the time lol), smaller companies make their idols do plastic surgery too. Like it's very obvious that other companies have followed the sm etc formula because looks are all that matter these days. And I really don't think 18 yos are thinking I need lip filler
Ngl ppl will make up any rumour about SM, they like targeting SM among the Big3 for some reason, YG's CEO himself called 2NE1 ugly (which forced park bom to do Ps) and this hypocrites like to point the finger at SM, many SM old idols haven't done surgery like taemin, kai, seulgi, key, jisung, chen, chenle, ningning, joy, yeri, DO, suho, eunhyuk, krystal, sulli, eugene many more, I could list more & more. It's just that SM had/has many idols under them compare to any other Big 3 agency that's why ppl always usually blame SM.
Ah yes the only logical reasonable people in here lol. Lot of ex trainee from YG already debut in medium company but of course their group also quite famous.
Kang Seung Yoon of Winner said YG don't promise someone to debut soon but to become a trainee first of their company. Koreans know about YGE but still choose YGE as their top company to get trained with.
i meaaann as bad as SM wants to be this top-tier visual producing company.. They do actually produce really really talented artists, like choreography aside they can fucking sing like.. better than any agency in South Korea tbh lol.
I feel hybe does the correct if they make a mistake they'll improve by themselves like if a mentor shouts some people don't get it properly so learning it by themselves is the best thing
Mentors shouldn’t be shouting at people, they should explain where they went wrong and what to do to improve. How can someone improve if they don’t have a more experienced person guiding them? If learning by oneself was the best thing then university wouldn’t exist. Not to mention literally any other educational institution - things like martial arts classes, language classes, technical education. Trainees are trainees because they’re supposed to have someone training them. Learning by yourself can only get you so far, and when it comes to singing, without proper instruction, trainees/idols risk damaging their vocal chords irreparably.
@@LaurenPebbleThey said less not non-existent. With the current generation filled with lots of kpop groups, they'd probably want trainees with lots of potential, not spoonfed ones. It's not like that industry is for everyone.
Hybe might give less dance Teachers but it helps trainees actually find out their mistakes by themselves instead of having Teachers yelling at you 24/7 and you still might not understand. It helps you develop your own style of dancing and understand why you’re doing it and the importance better. If I had to choose, def hybe

Plastic surgery probably applies to all the companies, especially nowadays. The competition is tougher and ever and companies focus more on visual appeal of the groups than the music. Like, some of the recently debuted idols barely can hold a note. Not everyone is Mariah Carey but there should be a bare minimum of what idols should be able to do.
I feel like kpop is just a popularity game at this point like if you are in a big well known company and are pretty then u can do anything, meanwhile there’s groups that are talented and don’t get much recognition. That’s why I’m getting into jpop because I feel that it’s about talent instead of visuals
You wrong abt YG, YGent has an assessment every month, the trainees will be assessed whether their talents in singing, dancing and making songs have increased or not shown improvement, if he can't compete among other talent trainees then he will be sent home, you can see how the training system works at Ygent on WINNER, IKON, TREASURE, BLACKPINK and even now BAEMON. If you don't believe one reason can be convincing, how can Miyeon (G-idle) who is so pretty and has good singing technique be eliminated as a member of BP? Even trainees who have been at YG for a long time sometimes experience pressure because their talent is not as good as other trainees so they give up and leave YGent
YG is known for giving financial assistance to trainees and they don't bury them in debts. YG is also known for paying talent fees higher than other agencies.
Its actually a good thing for what Hybe been doing. They made the trainees grow and create their own colour, it also make the competition healthier. It also depends on them, if you want it work for it so when debuted they know they achieve with their own hardwork & creativity
JYP's reason is logical. Why spend so much money on one trainee who isn't progressing fast enough? They's be practically losing money. So yes, it is sad to see how quickly they're let go, but they are one of the biggest entertainment producers and they can't afford to have anything slowing them down.
I watched a video of an ex-Hybe trainee and it’s true that his days as trainee wasn’t that tiring. Pretty chill, they had classes to learn Korean and dance and vocal. But he was also let go after the first round of evaluations. So I’m assuming the higher you climb, the harder the training becomes. This makes sense as why would the company waste resources to train someone unpromising?
tell that to Moon Sua and other girls from Future 2ne1, they were promised that they'll debut and YG kept postponing it and eventually cancelled their debut so they all left Sua literally wasted 10 years in YG not to debut and then debuted just a year after she joined a different company 💀
Honestly it's both though. YG will debut who they wanna debut, whether they keep a trainee for ages because they have a vision/plan for them, or they keep them ages and then can't debut them because YG is being fussy and the trainee leaves. For sm is obviously made up. They cast trainees for their looks and talents and you can obviously see that most ex sm trainees are pretty and handsome. Ya'll just hype up the issue with aespa's ps and assume that sm force their trainees to do ps in order to debut when infact most ex sm traineed are pretty and handsome. The most accurate is that sm keep having a lot of trainees and promising them to debut, but end up choosing other trainees. (Poor hina can't accept what happened to her) Also if the trainers/higher up doesn't see an idol material in a trainee they will send them to other departments like modelling and acting.
@Gigi Herrier no you did not comprehend properly. This video was about what idols hate about their company not what the company invented etc. and it's NOT TRUE that sm FORCED Trainees to do ps in order to debut. SM doesn't require their idols to do ps just to debut. Most of them debuted without ps and most of them did ps AFTER DEBUT! and that is artists choice not forced. Except for aespa who debuted already doing ps.
@Gigi Herrierdropped the artists name 💀 if you can't well that shows you are lying. Drop the name of artists who confirmed that he/she was force by sm to undergo ps just to debut.
@@heart8143 Ik this is kinda late but why was this even an argument?! Almost every idol in the industry undergoes ps and its not like it was the trainees idea, it was obviously the company that wanted it! So whether or not SM “forces” the trainees, what proof do u have? Because they still have majority of their idols and that issue wasn’t even brought up until Aespa??!
If i will be an idol, ofcource,i will choose hybe or jyp 💁.. Actually they are BETTER than promising fake to idols/trainees or just changing the stucture of a person's face 🙂. (My opinion. No need to fight over this).
Well YG just want their trainees to be more patience and have more confident and boost trainees talents but all of their tiredness is worth it because idols in YG incomes are bigger than the entertainment
There is no "Big Four" it will always be "Big Three" , no matter how strong Dr. Strange is, he will never overcome Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor.
I think for the hybe part is that they want their trainees to be creative in producing and writing songs. Hybe is known for giving credits to those who were involved in the album production. Like with yunjin for her self-producing songs, alot of hybe artists did participating in writing lyrics, and bts have 3 members as main producers in the group. They want their artists to show themselves of what the meaning of true artists means. Hybe have hard trainings when it comes to dance practice, based on what txt and lesserafim's stories were.
i agree hybe seems to want and create artists that love music and enjoy what they are doing they don't need to most talented traniee but the traniee with the most star quality
Honestly it makes me so proud hearing big4. The fact that BTS made a company rise to that height is such a huge deal. Ik it's off topic but still sharing the proud moment ;-; Edit: Guys I realize different people have different opinions on the topic but my comment was basically just a way to express how proud I am of tannies. No company is perfect and it is obvious that hybe is where it stands mainly due to BTS. Love to all! (Please don't start a war)
@@kimkardashianlostearring5277 It's not more, it's way way more money. BTS alone was towering over big3, but after acquisition and making other sub-labels, it became too high that even the cumulative profit of Big3 can't touch HYBE. NewJeans, Le sserafim, TXT, Seventeen, Enhypen - everyone sales millions after all. BTS members individually can sell millions now.
I think hybe one makes sense....we have had enough of trainess that were forced to fit into categories or forced to sing or rap just cause they were selected based on visuals and had no talent in that field...we can see the increased use of autotune these days as result
I love JYP's way of training, it's like making sure they have motivation to continue their debuting journey. Although it might give a lot of pressure to the trainees, that's just how you debut as a strong and not giving-up-easily idol.
nothing wrong with plastic surgery, as long as you're a consenting adult and you're the one who wants it more than anyone. For underage trainees to have to agree to surgeries decided by staff is absolutely INSANE
Maybe Hybe/ Bighit changed from before since not all artist that debut came to them fully ready but I still don't see a issue. Look at it this way if it's their dream by the time they audition for a company they should be close to ready to debut otherwise what does a company have to judge but their looks and hopes that they'll become talented later on? Glad they take talent over potential otherwise it'd be a group of visuals with little to no talent.
I want to choose SM, just to meet Exo, shinee , NCT and Aespa . I am born beauty so i dont think they will make me do PS. I am bathroom singer 🤣🤣🤣 And i can rap too if their is autotune I can dance if no one see me
For the SM haters/self righteous stans, just so you know, most of your groups have had plastic surgery. Almost all. Like, all of your faves, literally. They change their appearance to fit beauty standards in some way. They have to because it’s unfortunately a part of their job. They may have been pressured by their company or SK’s culture which seems to be very image focused. That’s South Korea and that’s k-pop.
If you’ve seen how YG selects and trains their trainees, you’ll know that they are the hardest agency to enter as a trainee, and don’t forget their monthly evaluations which is probably the harshest evaluations I’ve seen. And let’s not say YG always promises debut to their trainees coz we know they rarely debut new groups unless they ready.
I feel like an example for the trainees not being promised to debut are the pink punk members as most members except for the blackpink members were either cut from the line up or left the company due to yg not promising their debut
@@aoaoutmothers yeah just look at the ex yg trainees who debuted under different agencies now like Gon and seunghun of CIX, GIDLE’s miyeon, secret number’s jinny, billie’s moon sua, P1harmony’s jongseob, keita and dohwan of ciipher
Stuck in the past I see. Guess what, wake up it's already 5th gen not 1st gen anymore. Times change, definitions change, public opinion change and so must you adapt.
woahh hybe’s recent rundown on their training and development system (a video series found on their yt channel) pretty much 100% confirmed that building self-reliance is indeed a high priority when it comes to trainees. however, hybe does offer plenty of practice time and resources. the trainees themselves get to decide their own schedule, so what they want to improve on is completely up to them. this makes me wonder if the SM one is true as well cuz…😳damn
As for SM its pretty simple to prove it, just gather all the idol predebut pict, even their childhood pict. As i stan their BG i can assure you that all of them are natural (I didn't know much about their GG). So, it's debunked that claim (pressure their trainee to have a plastic surgery)
SM doesn’t force their idols to get plastic surgery tho, they don’t even force them to get on diets, its always the artist choice. I remember that when the Red Velvet members gained weight for Dumb Dumb comeback netizens attacked them so much that they had to lose weight, but that was because of the hate the were getting, not because SM forced them. Also seulgi mentioned the company suggested her to get double eyelid surgery but she didn’t want to get it and the company didn’t force her to do it…she even debuted so i don’t think SM forces their idols to do things they don’t want to. SM is even one of the few companies that doesn’t care about their idols dating since debut, they don’t have a dating ban like JYP or YG, and the artists can also get tattoos and piercings if they want too since debut, for example ningning already has like three tattoos and she got them a few months after Aespa debuted
I don't think so!! These are just assumption. If SM only cared about looks then why do they have best vocalists and dancers?? Now their new gen rapper are even skilled. YG one is a bit true cuz they don't debut a group very frequently but worth the wait. Hybe one sound so made up like kpop idols are like industrially manufacted things and a lot of trainers train them. If TXT taehyun was street casted because of visual how come he became a main vocal without any vocal training?? Doesn't make sense and most of the hybe groups like enhypen,TXT, newjeans... Doesn't have a category where they're the best like rap for BTS, vocal for exo and dance for stray kidz.
The SM contract says if you don't want the plastic surgery they will give you, they will terminate your contract and make you pay (and for what? I declined the offer for the plastic surgery.)
@@x_.mizuki._x3231 have you seen an SM contract before !? Where do people get these assumptions !? Not all SM artists did ps and every company does that anyways ! They look for PRETTY people they don't MAKE pretty people !!!
Answer from the companies JYP : there are many trainers from the company so they try to choose the best of them YG : they give more effort on then by training the many years so they get into a catchy group to train every Idol more than three years to debut SM: we want the idle to look as beautiful as possible which all the Korean standards to look attractive and again popularity HYBE : price to use less money as possible for the trainees bi not hiring teacher and giving a proper minimum of success
The one thing I hate about K-pop companies is that trainees have to work for 16 hours with no breaks and some idols said it’s the most hardest thing a person can ever do. Like Imagine Training for 4 years for debut but then get rejected. They definitely deserve better, and K-pop companies need to stop torturing them and stop forcing them to do things they don’t want to..That’s why k-pop idols don’t think there good enough for us if they mess up on things😢I feel so bad for them♥️
I agree with some of the comments. HYBE is logical in terms of making their trainees grow as artists. JYPE is logical in a business perspective, plus it also prevents trainees from wasting too much time (or their youth altogether, if the idol world was never really meant for them). This brings me to how Bang Chan knows half the Kpop industry. I came across a Reddit thread of someone cataloguing JYPE male trainees ever since 2000-ish and A LOT of DEBUTED idols in the industry now had been a trainee in JYP at some point (example, nearly half of Cube's Pentagon). Also, back when SKZ were still rumored to debut, there was this 2016 OneHallyu thread of people snooping around who could be the possible members. At one point, the head count went as high as 13-14 members for the group, including WEi's Seokhwa and JLoud's Gyehun. Now look at the last members to join the SKZ lineup, Felix, Seungmin and MInho. In their variety shows, these three are really quick to learn/pick up stuff and are competitive to the point of going after each other's throats, Minho with the added bonus of being crazy lucky, and Felix being Australian. This probably made the company say they can wing it despite the short training time. No hate, but when I watched the survival show as a new fan, Felix and Minho WERE half-baked AF. It was really painful to watch. But look at them now! Also while digging around on the trainees who were once rumored to be in the SKZ lineup, I found out that Seokhwa's height would fit perfectly with SKZ's fun-sized theme.
I feel like HYBE is very close to all-rounder kinda company. They take both vocals and dance seriously so most of their artists are okay singing live. Even rookies have very good vocals. They give them all types of choreography instead of just hard ones so that they can sing and dance good at the same time. wow i didn't realise my comment would start a war😂the caption itself says "4 big companies" hence i said my opinion about hybe. im not disregarding other companies. i just said this simple thing i noticed about hybe artists. wasn't trying to offend anybody.
Jyp is definitely for me. Im a horrifically fast learner and the fact that they drop trainees would make me practice non stop, forcing me to get better.
@@blueshoes5145yes exactly. Chenle is rich and he already had a music career and he's very funny and distinguishable. SM wasn't about to drop that gold mine.
pretty much true with each particular issue … but they all generally will do everything mentioned to these talents …. Funny thing nobody talks about is that most these Idols don’t even like listening to Kpop and abhor by it …. they listen to K- Indie and American/ Euro music … mostly children and few teens especially geeky boys listen to it in Korea
if that's true, jyp is the only good company out of 4. they over the best trainer and teacher, provide good food, education and all.. it's between you can keep up the pace or you lose, because it makes them want to prepare a group for next debut
This is why if i chose a company to be under it would be JYP. I think out of the big are the most logical. And yes DUH they have their problems but at least they dont just assume your supposed to be good with no growth, dont make you have plastic surgery and tell lies 😅
This narrative of SM expects all trainees to look a certain way (the most obvious being double lids) and that they drop any trainee who refuses plastic surgery is suuuuuuch BS. If it was true, how do you explain Seulgi, or Onew, or Chenle, or Jisung, or Shindong, etc... or hell, someone as unconventional as Amber? To me, this is obviously a false narrative by how unique each idol looks at SM. People accuse them of being the most 'cut' idols, yet they don't have a cookie cutter look to their people, as other agencies do. SM seems to prize unique good looks over typical Korean "beauty standards" any day. I mean, I totally accept that they (AND EVERY OTHER LABEL) encourages PS when they think it's "necessary", but SM (as shallow as it might be) clearly searches for naturally and uniquely good-looking kids first, and talent second... because they KNOW they can draw out every last bit of hidden talent in someone through their training methods, but starting with someone with an already pretty face is going to be ideal... Not to mention, because they're SM they have had no shortage of the best new hopefuls to choose from, voluntarily coming through their doors to audition on a weekly basis, literally for decades. Who they choose to debut, are obviously going to be the best of the best. So assuming EVERY good-looking person in SM's stable of artists has had some sort of cosmetic surgery or that they were forced to while trainees, is just illogical.
Basically the traits the companies look for:
YG - patient
SM - compliant
Hybe - self-reliant
JYP - fast-learner
Thats true
Jyp - dedication to improve, not just being a fast learner. Theyre looking for the trainees' attitude on how much they really want to be an idol.

Ive seen trainees of 7 years not being able to debut at the end, and their time wasted
They do have training there. But maybe less so they have the freedom to develop their own style.

i think thats for trainee who hasn't been fixed into any group yet. maybe to let them find their own style and colors before grouping them all together to give them the proper training that would actually match and work for them later. i think its way better than shaping them all into the same colors which would be a shame. like maybe they also want more determined trainees because that would be a waste spending the resources on kids that doesnt really know what theyre getting into and just do it for the sake of it, not because thats genuinely what they dreamed and wanted for

YG is very picky about debuting the trainee. Promising doesn't mean you debut if you are not improving. They pick the most talented one that deserved to be debuted. You know that YG paid the most salary to their idol so debuting the talented one is the key for the group to be successful and worth paid.
Agreed 💯
Yeah, actually thry have monthly presentation or smth like that, and the best are the ones with the biggest chances.
*you can ignore this reply*
true but over the terrible standards, I don’t think it’s fair if your gonna stay there unhappy and pressured. But NMIXX didn’t have their first win yet, did they?
Objectively NMIXX doesn’t have anywhere near the popularity or a fan base compared to any of the other groups from those agencies
The thing about yg is that even if u didn't debut u will be at least super talented and could go to other company and debut like Miyeon from (G)I-dle

If you watch I-Land, you know how Bang Sihyuk asked Rain and Zico to not only look at the skills that the trainees have but to look more at the potential they have.
Wow, I must say this is well-said

But yg do cover all of the trainees expenses tho😂, they doesn’t even have any debt when they leave n just need to move on and find a better place that can accept them for who they are
That's true. YG trainees are treated best in terms of financial assistance and they debut with no debts.
I feel like that's what makes Hybe idols unique. They have their own style
Yes really authentic too...discipline, BangPD trained them with good behaviour/ manners...
Bighit or pledis rest are not even near 😂😂
Idk, I just think it will be the same in every company when it comes to plastic surgery
And that was like 15 years ago 💀 now 5 out of 10 idols look the same you can clearly see the look they are going for, Wendy changed face like 3 times in her career and not like chaewon when she went from izone being young to lesserefim but I mean actually looking different from before,
@@Dahnamoji7 but I think Wendy's face changed mostly after that falling accident that she had to do surgery for

Chaeyeon, Jessi, Chungha, Yuna, Chaeryeong, Bom, Lisa, Momo, Sakura, Yeonjun, Heeseung, Joshua, Bangchan, Felix, Hyunjin, Changbin, etc. In fact, it’s worse with smaller companies bc they don’t have as good plastic surgeons or the money to afford better, more natural facial changes. Only Aespa in SM have noticeably different features and Wendy of RV. SHINee, the rest of RV, Ningning, NCT, EXO, all have had fairly subtle plastic surgery, which is what SM’s originally known for.

Last time I saw a short on RUclips and ig it was a kind of survival show (im not sure at all) and there was two girls who perfom Nonstop by Oh My Girl. They was really pretty but they didn't sing well at all 😕
@@soyeonsoulmate Yes ! This scene is so sad ☹️ and there were 2 girls with a more rock style but people didn't vote because of beauty standards....
A judge (member of G-idle) has also criticized this in the series.
I mean, many idols come from rich parents and i am okay with that because these idols are talented (Lia, giselle, Lisa, rose, Minnie, sorn, chanbing, etc.) However if there is favoritsim between looks or richness then that's a problem (which mostly happens, like in xiaoting's case).
@@sapphia4612 there definitely is😭
Yup, but that's in all of the agencies I think 🤔
Don't know but I liked HYbe one though 😂
Lol HYBE is the only one that’s not a bad thing. They want talented people to debut. That’s why even new groups like new jeans, txt take active part in creating music since debut. They only hire vetted experts as trainers not just the same ones tht the industry has been using. Plus they have a mental health team for artists and trainees. I wish YG n SM would learn a thing and take better care of their artists rather than just focusing on whoever earns them more money
yeah, it is really great to not train and not give minimal help to a fragile person, a minor mostly, who is developing his/her mind and starting growing up, not educating them. it doesn’t influence their way of thinking at all, the fact that they don’t give a ruck and just want them to be a money machine
@@xnicla They provide guidance to develop your own style. If you don't have the drive to learn and explore what you want to develop on your own you might not be suited to the industry just yet. They say less not non existent.
I also heard that SM has BOA as a trainee consultant for the really young trainees?
Jype also provides their trainee in multiple skills besides the basics: dancing, rapping, singing etc. You can develop yourself in leadership in jype etc etc idk more about sm tho
@@xnicla if you are fragile, you shouldn't be there or in any trainee program in the first place. I don't go to a dangerous place for me like a training then drag the employer and say it was his fault. An employer should care, but only to an extent, the rest is up to you and your family.
YG took the Indian quote seriously😂which is the result of patience is successful 😂
I don’t think YG promises quick debut anymore, people knows it’ll take a long time to debut there 😅
or maybe they're seeing if you're patient
bang pd has been quoted saying that what he looks for in trainees is 3 main categories: teamwork, assertiveness, and future potential.
He only manages bighit and focus more priorities there
@randomluv he was the ceo of hybe, and a current chairman in the board, I think bang pd had a big influence on what the corporation's culture and subsequent companies should focus on, the video generalized trainees experience when there's many companies under hybe. So at least where bang pd is involved under hybe, he looks for potential, trainees also have a lot of lessons avaliable to them before they debute which I think would mean they care about building up their trainees
you forgot looks and being skinny 😂
@@vbsliker3000BTS was called ugly back in the day you feel me. If they were choosing looks over skills, then young emo BTS wouldn’t debut
And SM must be doing something right because most if the groups they have created are still running today
exactly they are just jealous of their visuals
This one is tricky tho bc in some of those groups, either one or two members have left the group or kicked out or been replaced, and others have left SM and went to diff label but still do group activities bc their group is still under SM. Then some groups under them tho haven't explicitly said they disbanded but not active as a group altho flourishing in their solo careers.
No I’ve seen many Korean online say that they get brainwashed into wanting plastic surgery themselves due to not feeling good enough and better opportunities
YG is such a dream company to get in.
Yeah, i saw a video of a korean ex trainees in the industry and they say that they wish they could get in YG
It's big 3 , always will be big3 , it can't be something but big3.
YG is unknown, and JYP still have debt system at least until 2pm/miss a era and it's not known whether they still did or not. like 2pm still have debt back then when Jay Park left 2pm. it was known by people then that if he voluntarily left the group, the company would remove his debt,
Also whenever SM trainees wanted to leave or being eliminated, they gave recommendation letters to the other companies, so they didn't leave with nothing and can join other agencies right away, even without any audition (depends on the agency's policy); whether it's idol agency or acting agency. for example: Soyeon (ex t-ara), raina (after school), they got recommendations from SM and able to join new agency, and got into the debut line-up right away. there are a lot of similar cases for example from other agencies too.
Rightt the plastic surgery thing is an industry standard pressure not an SM thing
Ppl obsessed with making SM as the villain among big4.
@@RubyJane701_ they'd be jobless and miserable if they didn't do that lol

I feel hybe does the correct if they make a mistake they'll improve by themselves like if a mentor shouts some people don't get it properly so learning it by themselves is the best thing
@@sapphia4612 they do have mentors but little less there is a difference in less and nothing
It's not like that industry is for everyone.
with this logic we wouldn't need schools, just learn by yourself 🥰🤗
Hybe might give less dance Teachers but it helps trainees actually find out their mistakes by themselves instead of having Teachers yelling at you 24/7 and you still might not understand. It helps you develop your own style of dancing and understand why you’re doing it and the importance better. If I had to choose, def hybe
This. Imo hybe want trainees to grow "organically" then they'd pick those who suit the group concept, not the opposite which is molding the trainees into the group concept iykwim
It's not just the dance teachers. That greedy rat company has terrible, if even any vocal coaches; for example 5/7 enhypen members don't have any vocal support except for heeseung & sunoo and are weak vocalists. With mediocre dancing you can't go that wrong but without proper singing technique you can fuck up your voice to no return
And what about the vocals? Everyone needs vocal training. It's so essential to carry notes unlike dancing.

Yes
also it not only due to not talented or skill enough but what important is how they fit in the group, that will make them debut
Miyeon was not eliminated she left
LoL Miyeon left because YG the delay of their debut plus YG didn't give them stage exposure
Its actually a good thing for what Hybe been doing. They made the trainees grow and create their own colour, it also make the competition healthier. It also depends on them, if you want it work for it so when debuted they know they achieve with their own hardwork & creativity
being auditionin in yg and passed i think being a artist in yg was really hard to claim.more than other companies
Yg doesn’t promise their trainees anything
They are just very strict in choosing who debuts and some trainees can’t keep up with the thoroughness
Exactly
tell that to Moon Sua and other girls from Future 2ne1, they were promised that they'll debut and YG kept postponing it and eventually cancelled their debut so they all left
Sua literally wasted 10 years in YG not to debut and then debuted just a year after she joined a different company 💀
Honestly it's both though. YG will debut who they wanna debut, whether they keep a trainee for ages because they have a vision/plan for them, or they keep them ages and then can't debut them because YG is being fussy and the trainee leaves. Personally I can't understand the "future 2ne1" thing because from what I seen, those girls were super talented

Uhm i wouldn’t say forced but pressured too cause they were on seulgi for the longest time telling her to get plastic surgery for her eyes and mark they would all up on him to get plastic surgery

Hybe have hard trainings when it comes to dance practice, based on what txt and lesserafim's stories were.
plus they have vocals coaches

I love JYP's way of training, it's like making sure they have motivation to continue their debuting journey. Although it might give a lot of pressure to the trainees, that's just how you debut as a strong and not giving-up-easily idol.
nothing wrong with plastic surgery, as long as you're a consenting adult and you're the one who wants it more than anyone. For underage trainees to have to agree to surgeries decided by staff is absolutely INSANE
Alternative: train with YG, then after a few years, enter HYBE
Maybe Hybe/ Bighit changed from before since not all artist that debut came to them fully ready but I still don't see a issue. Look at it this way if it's their dream by the time they audition for a company they should be close to ready to debut otherwise what does a company have to judge but their looks and hopes that they'll become talented later on? Glad they take talent over potential otherwise it'd be a group of visuals with little to no talent.
SM really want their visuals to match their talents.

And let’s not say YG always promises debut to their trainees coz we know they rarely debut new groups unless they ready.

woahh hybe’s recent rundown on their training and development system (a video series found on their yt channel) pretty much 100% confirmed that building self-reliance is indeed a high priority when it comes to trainees. however, hybe does offer plenty of practice time and resources. the trainees themselves get to decide their own schedule, so what they want to improve on is completely up to them.
this makes me wonder if the SM one is true as well cuz…😳damn
People always make SM as villain in Kpop Industry
As for SM its pretty simple to prove it, just gather all the idol predebut pict, even their childhood pict.
As i stan their BG i can assure you that all of them are natural (I didn't know much about their GG).
So, it's debunked that claim (pressure their trainee to have a plastic surgery)
Sure buddy
U literally don’t make any sense
Yeh and u just think so, we don't know wuts right or wrong
The SM contract says if you don't want the plastic surgery they will give you, they will terminate your contract and make you pay (and for what? I declined the offer for the plastic surgery.)
@@x_.mizuki._x3231 have you seen an SM contract before !? Where do people get these assumptions !? Not all SM artists did ps and every company does that anyways ! They look for PRETTY people they don't MAKE pretty people !!!
It's just for view girls. When you don't have any proof but want to make this kind of video without real evidence.
Answer from the companies
JYP : there are many trainers from the company so they try to choose the best
of them
YG : they give more effort on then by training the many years so they get into a catchy group to train every Idol more than three years to debut
SM: we want the idle to look as beautiful as possible which all the Korean standards to look attractive and again popularity
HYBE : price to use less money as possible for the trainees bi not hiring teacher and giving a proper minimum of success
I like HYBE and JYP’s mentality. If you want it, you’ll work hard. Shapes character
Yea like txt, Enhypen, new jeans, lesserafim, BTS, seventeen, legit all rounded grps
You had me until you said vocals. Most vocalists in hybe are average to under average.
Hybe do got good vocals (svt mad stable) but SM are hardcore on vocals which is why all vocal kings and queens are in SM
@@willo8757 I mean they aren’t average vocalists, they’re actually super strong ones
@@willo8757yeah
Jyp is definitely for me. Im a horrifically fast learner and the fact that they drop trainees would make me practice non stop, forcing me to get better.
If I could become an IDOL im NEVER going to SM cause i don't want to get a surgery at all I LIKE MY FACE THE WAY IT IS !!!!!!
It is true that SM Ent asks a lot of its trainees to do surgery, but they can start without. NCT's Chenle refused, and he made his debut anyway.
But Chenle is rich. I’m sure his parents intervened.
@@blueshoes5145yes exactly. Chenle is rich and he already had a music career and he's very funny and distinguishable. SM wasn't about to drop that gold mine.
@@hermionegranger6405what about eunhyuk and taemin
“HYBE offer less teachers and practice instruction”
No wonder….😌😌
Why do you mean?
There well be always 3 companies.
I don’t like how HYBE prefers visuals over talent which kinda bothers me
pretty much true with each particular issue … but they all generally will do everything mentioned to these talents ….
If i had chose one of them then I'll choose JYPE
Okay but Hybe's is a big problem now
This is why if i chose a company to be under it would be JYP.
