Sammie Samsung yes indeed, what an amazing group. So many great songs it’s really hard to pick a favorite. I must say I’m jealous that you saw them at 3 concerts Lol! That’s awesome 😎 Lou Graham was such an amazing singer but the band was so good they were able to continue without him. Yes, they contributed so much to the music industry!!! 🤗
I love Foreigner. ALL their songs are good, BUT this is my absolute favourite because of that sax solo!! It is funny because guys always seem to go crazy for the guitar & females may like it or not. Women on the other hand (like myself) always go crazy for the sax. EVERYBODY goes crazy for THIS sax solo though. As an 80s teen I didn't even realize how much of our music contained the saxophone (it wasn't really in 70s music which is mostly guitar & drums.) I only realized it when I started watching these music reactions, although if you had asked me as a teen what instruments were needed in a band I would have said (without question - drums, guitar & saxophone with other instruments added if you wanted.) The ONLY sax that EVER really came into my mind as being there was in this song. I guess all the others were just a part of the good music but this one REALLY stood out! - by John Oates Ritchie 🤣. I LOVED your comparisons in Junior Walker's looks - you were SPOT ON!! (Sorry this is all so disjointed. It is early in the morning & I haven't had my caffeine yet. 😴 😊.)
Drummer Jason Bonham, son of the late great Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham went on tour with Foreigner from 2004 until 2008 with a short break in 2007.
I was lucky enough to see Foreigner for their Jukebox Hero tour... what a show! His voice is one of a kind, he is just as great live! Thank you Jamal! Hope you & your family stay safe & strong 💜💜
@Allan Tidgwell LOL Honest. I couldn't WAIT to see Jamel's reaction. I truly DO enjoy his channel and this is one of my favorite songs. A blast from the past.
My favorite Foreigner song! I loved at the time how they incorporated synths into this song and it still retained its rockin’ out quality. “Cold As Ice” and “Double Vision” are a couple of bangers.
I saw Foreigner after Lou had the brain tumor and he sat the whole time. He blew us away. He has a charisma that can't be copy and sex appeal to no end even though he wasn't in the same shape from medicine etc. I absolutely loved it! He was charming to all of us and so happy to sing for the crowd.
Speaking of Lionel Ritchie, you should check out his song “All Night Long” if you haven’t already! And then there’s The Commodores. That’s a whole different and wonderful road to travel down. Lou Gramm of Foreigner has one if the best voices in rock, period. It’s indisputable! 😄🎧
I was hoping somebody had mentioned Thomas Dolby’s contributions to the Foreigner 4 album! She Blinded Me With Science, One of Our Submarines and Hyperactive followed close behind and then his work on cell phone ringtones. Lots of other good music from him over the years too.,
Lead singer, Lou Gramm, had a great solo effort too. Health put him down for a while but now thankfully, he's back up. Check his song, 'Midnight Blue'. I saw Foreigner, back when this album was just released, in an indoor arena and they were stage-set with outdoor type amplification. Lou Gramm Has one of the absolute best voices in the history of rock music
Almost the same guys: they were down to a four piece band from six. However, they used a lot of talented studio musicians for the album. So for the record, that was the studio version of the song, played over a TV performance. The sax on the album that you heard was played by the legendary Junior Walker, who is not the guy in the video. Junior was 50 years old in 1981 when this came out, also he played a tenor sax on the song, not the baritone sax this guy is playing - you can't hit those high notes on a baritone. I wasn't much of a sax fan until I heard this, then I was all in! Man could that man play! Also, they had 4 keyboard players, and a new kid, Thomas Dolby, did most of the heavy lifting. The keyboards on this album were very modern and tasty at the time, and it helped launch Dolby's solo career (She Blinded Me with Science, One of Our Submarines, Europa and the Pirate Twins, Hyperactive, and Dissidents are some hits to check). The other keyboard players were Larry Fast (a synth programming wizard who played with Peter Gabriel), Michael Fonfara (Lou Reed's band) and Bob Mayo (Peter Frampton's band). Thanks for listening and posting! Stay safe, be well. Peace from SF
