Paddy once persuaded Sissel to do a tour as vocalist with the Chieftains. He became a good friend. This is one of Sissel's zenith performances in her career. Note how she judiciously works the dynamics latent in this song, how she leans on certain notes to produce the sweetest sound.
I have been following Sissel for 20 years, and I love her voice. Can you imagine what Angelina Jordan could do with this song? It must be the water in Norway that brings us such great talent. It must be the water in Norway that causes the height of its ladies because AJ is not over 6 feet tall, and Sissel is very tall.
Sissel is from my home town of Bergen. She had her public start at the European concert in Bergen in 1986. She was amazing. She is an incredible international star. I suggest you watch her rendition of "Slow Down", witht the Tabernacle choir. Not from a religeous point of view, but simply for the incredible quality of her rendition. Also if you wish, listen to "Like and Angel Through my Room". And folks, I agree that A Jordan is a good singer and possibly an upcoming star. But she is a young lady about where Sissel was in 1986, and has a way to go. But I'm sure she will get there some day.
