    I have never missed a Deep Purple concert. In or around Phoenix Arizona.
    A few years ago my brother passed from cancer. He was a great drummer and learned to play drums from you and your great style.
    My wife and I were at your Deep Purple show a couple of days after his passing.
    Some kind of sprit connection between us because after the concert you reached over some people in front of me and handed me both of your drum sticks.
    I looked up to God and said, For You Brother.
    Love you Ian. You touched all of our Hearts.
    Steven Storm.

    Ian's choices are pretty consistent from line to line, he like 24 or 22 rides and 20 crashes with 15 hats. That 8" splash thigh was killer!

    Paiste rides are absolutely superb! I use a Sabian AA Heavy Ride, but my grail ride would definitely be the discontinued Signature Dark Metal Ride. Been dreaming of it since I was a kid.

    • @Champane97
      @Champane97 9 лет назад +2

      My favourite Paiste Ride is, well lets just say I'm split between the 24in Giant Beat & the 24in 2002 Big Ride. But after hearing this Formula 602 Modern Essentials 22in Ride, (in fact ALL the cymbals Ian used at the end when he jammed) I'm won over with these 602 Modern Essentials. They sound so sweet!!!

    • @MrNickDrummer
      @MrNickDrummer 7 лет назад

      I have a 22" Signature Dark Metal Ride. Nope, not for sale. I play it on my 'Avalon' drum cover.

    • @paistekid

      @@Champane97 The 2002 Big Ride is basically a 24”GB on steroid! I use both of them exclusively but when I need a more traditional ride sound I’d swap them out for the 2002 24” Ride 👍🏾

  • @drumsanddrumming

    I just bought the 22" ride and a 18" crash

  • @misfit2022
    @misfit2022 4 года назад +3

    I like a 10” splash but I agree on the 22” ride. I like a 16” and 18” inch crash. The 15” hi hats very nice. Studio engineers tell me the brightness of the Paiste can be hard to handle in the studio and darker cymbals work better but Zildjian just don’t suit my playing. I am a creature of habit Pearl and Paiste.

  • @loganjenkins5447
    @loganjenkins5447 8 лет назад +1

    I like big cymbals too. Or at least dark cymbals, which usually comes with size. I play a 14" K top hat with a ZHT mastersound on bottom, 17" and 19" Wuhan NT crashes and 21" HHX groove ride. I spent months putting that combo together and I love all of them.

    It's so amusing to hear an 18" china referred to as "small". Although I pleased to hear these quality cymbals, I am thrilled to hear Paice demonstrate his razor-sharp technique and masterful touch. This guy can do anything but suck.

    • @lucianisidro
      @lucianisidro 4 года назад +2

      Really? I have a 20" RUDE China - which is a little one-dimensional, but LOUD - and I would never consider anything smaller. If (when) I buy a second one, it will probably be a 22" B20 (Paiste of course) - as I would appreciate more depth and tonal complexity. So a 602 Essential would fit the bill. The best part of £500 though - ouch.

    Give me 13" hats, 17 & 18" crashes, a 22" ride and I'm happy. I'd rather go up in weight than dimension.

    I got to say, All cymbals that I have found or used that were spectacular were Zildjian. I have had good Paiste cymbals also, but, the cream lies in Zildjian. Just my taste & opinion.

    He used the original formula 602 in the early days of purple, before he and many others switched to 2002..I'm currently torn between the 18 crash in this series, and the 18 signature dark energy..

    I don’t get how Ian uses a china when he likes a really long sustain in a cymbal. He uses these massive crash cymbals to get that nice sound we all know from deep purple songs. I know he explains it in this video. Maybe I just don’t hear it but like he said, we all like different things. Cool video

    A line of girls jumping up and down in thier uniforms. The drum is them standing. The cymbals are Thier skirt as they reach the peak of Thier projected jump up. They likely also kicked thier feet up. Boom mic.
    Where does your kit end or begin?
    Why is it called a fill?
    What's the actual quantifiable size of a fill?
    Standard?
    What about MY wrists?

    • @lancelove9700
      @lancelove9700 Год назад

      Become the clapper. Resonant imaging field obliques. Graphic resonant systems and stimulation for sound design and projection metering and control. Instead of volume use field dynamics. No sound in the booth just a sonic array of field energy of the drums being played. Try tuning or even listening to music like that. In black and white.
      Like it's not.
      Just like you didn't knew it wasn't so what you jammed on it anyways.

      he's all about those 2002's

    • @rhythmista7707
      @rhythmista7707 8 лет назад +4

      He's not there to say if he would use them, just to give his "seal of approval" to someone who may be interested in them..He used the original Formula 602's in Purple's early years because the 2002's weren't in production yet, just as Bonham used Giant Beats before the 2002's came along.. For one of the first Deep Purple singles,
      "Hush", he's using 602's, and the first 2 Zep albums, Bonham used Giant Beats..
