    FORMULA 602 MODERN ESSENTIALS
    Forged from the legendary «602 Bronze» (CuSn20), offering a complete new wide and dynamic sound dimension, developed in close collaboration with Vinnie Colaiuta, handcrafted from start to finish by highly skilled Swiss craftsmen, conceived and executed according to Vinnie’s uncompromising sound concepts for a wide all-round application.
    Formula 602 Modern Essentials cymbals combine the essence of the Formula 602 Classic Sounds models - transparency and stick definition - with the richness, warmth, darkness and a bit of complexity of the Signature Traditionals series besides providing slightly more pizzazz than its Classic Sounds siblings.

I think, initially I had a different idea about the china... and what I though it might have been... But! A few points in the process, I... I told them, I said you know... you guys I'm gonna step back on this one. And I told them, unreservedly, I said... I'm a little bit at the loss! Aaand they said 'It's okay... We got it.' I work for Paiste and can promise you it is not about money. We do not pay artists to play our cymbals. Vinnie heard some cymbals and wanted to learn more. It was well over a year of hanging out and playing cymbals before any endorsement talk was happening. This is a move based on sound, and sound alone.

    Vinnie teamed with Zildjian some years ago, and they came up with his A Customs, which sounded brilliant & breathy. But I've always been a fan of the old 602's, and these have everything that the A Customs had, plus a lot of much-desired depth & girth. Please don't tell my wife what I'm going to spend on these. And don't wake me up.

  • @teetomthomas
    @teetomthomas 11 лет назад +12

    Since "dropping his stick" on hearing the 602 ride Vinnie has got rid of all of his K Zildjian ride cymbals. And he threw his A Customs onto his driveway and drove over them and then reversed.
    Gillette. "The Best A Man Can Get".
    These are nice cymbals no doubt. But it's all bullshit.

    One of the prerogatives that musicians enjoy is being able to choose their own gear to suit THEIR sense of musical expression. Just like you wouldn't appreciate someone telling you what car to drive, what neighborhood to live in, or what color shirt you can wear, you don't get to tell Vinnie what cymbals he can use to create HIS music going forward, no matter how long he might have been using something else. I for one have always loved the 602's -I think it's the best sounding crash/ride ever.

I had a 19" A-Zildjian Crash cymbal that I dearly loved, but my :manager" at the time sold it to someone who got burned in one of his Coke deals!!!! However, that is NOT why I switched companies. A friend’s father gave me a recording and said if you think Topper Headon is the best check this guy out and no doubt changed my life though still love Topper. I had good taste even as a kid. Good price. We have soundproof room, work not mine, and that darker Zildjian tone works very well in there. Paiste can cut through a little too much. I really like the Paiste 22” ride so I am biased. All Paiste for me down to 15” hi-hats but like I say I know plenty who prefer Zildjian but it’s like drinking JD it became popular but no match for a good single malt. Indeed you too. I think this video shows his playing has changed. Before his playing was very explosive, exuberant, voluble, baffling, with astonishing rhythmic phrasing, a playing that kicks ass on and on ! Today, he shows us a playing more withdrawn but more aerial and fine, more ‘’in the pocket’’, softer and looser and more ‘’natural’’. Perhaps the playing of maturity !!!

      Ginger Baker (A zildjian guy) Famously called Paiste cymbals dustbin lids. I used to like Paiste cymbals when I was younger. As I got older and hopefully my ear has improved, I like them less. I certainly love Zildjian's and Sabian's more than Paiste now.

    Vinnie is one of my Favorite Drummers (Hands Down). But for some reason, I enjoyed his sound better when he was using Gretsch, and Zildjian. As a drummer, I know you use what makes you the happiest, and his style hasnt changed. And I use neither Gretsch, nor Zildjian (I'm a Yamaha, Meinl Man). Ludwig, and Paiste, for years have been top notch products. But his sound sounded so good when he used the Gretsch-Zildjian combo. Is it just me?

      I agree his sound with Gretsch and Zildijan was great. The one thing I will say is he is not playing along to music here.
      there is something about Paiste every time I hear them by themselves on youtube or in a musicshop. I don't like them. but I would be listening to certain artisst like Jack White In dead weather or even is sole stuff and say the cymbals sound awesome and then find out its paiste. Steve Jordon its the same thing. I would really like to test them out but Its expensive Gamble.

    I played a really old 22” 602 ride that was easily the best cymbal I had ever heard. Unbelievably unique tone to it. It was at House of Guitars in Rochester, I go whenever I’m in the area.

      +e Old zildjians maybe but they discontinued so many good cymbals so I think I'm done with Zildjian now. I don't feel like hunting down all the old cymbals on ebay and Paiste is a nice different sound.

    of all the Paiste lines, the 602's are my favorite...beautiful cymbals and a great investment. there's a sampled 602 ride in the Alesis Strike module that is even the finest sampled ride I've heard, and that seems incongruous but it speaks for itself as to the quality of this line.

    Out of a 10-min vid filled with great playing and sounds, THAT'S your comment? You don't understand what touring in Europe is like. Your day is filled will the concert, press, hotel checkin/out, practice, soundcheck, and countries fly by at the rate of 1-4 per day. It's easy to forget where you are, especially if you're not driving yourself. It's no surprise he can't remember exactly where he was - it's not out of your erroneous assumption of "American ignorance."

    Vinnie Colaiuta is THE authority on drums. And these Paiste cymbals sound terrific. Moreover, I think, that they sound drastically different from the Zidlian A Customs which were kind of Vinnie's signature sound while his Ludwig's mimick the Vinnie Gretsch sound fairly well. However, heading for new directions is always good to stay fresh and I like that VC is still hungry!

    VINNIE. the only monster i know of who don't eat people ,but destroys and kills on his drumkit. I would die for a paiste 602 22inch light crash/ride and/or a 20inch medium ride, 500-600 bux for cymbals that are unmatched is frusrating, even the 2002 are expensive as hell.

    Also have you ever heard the 20" RUDE ride and 14" rude Hi-Hats? Those 2 are so versatile, that even though this line is designed for harder genres of music, I'd be so willing to play jazz, fusion, blues and so on with them. Especially the hats. God, they sound amazing.

    Vinnie is finally playing real cymbals now. Paiste needs to get Neil Peart and Mike Mangini to play Signatures now, so their records start sounding more professional so to speak. Paiste rocks, the best hands down.

  • @DeanMccormick

    The 'prototype' is for us all, a machined cymbal.. All following based upon & sounding pretty much exactly the same.. The good thing? Consistency in the studio - I played some 602 hi-hats the other day and they were so 'easy' to get a consistent sound from. The bad thing? Inescapable sound, don't wear in with age, may give the illusion of full sonic / dynamic control due to regularity.. I could find a use for them in studio sessions for sure.

  • @drummercook60
    @drummercook60 10 лет назад

    So, I have read some of the comments, and I also think, why Zildjian to Paiste? To me It is clear, listen to some of the work Vinnie has done, and the sound is clear to me, stamped, or hand turned, I've heard alot of both. I think Zildjian all the way. But if there was a drum God, Vinnie would be in the first five.My opinion only. A big change though, money talks.
